@Noobpatty I have a NDM-86 in 54R, and I have shot a KBI imported Russian SVD. Both are phenomenal rifles. The only 2 differences is the receiver cuts for weight in the Norinco which is found on the earlier pattern SVDs where as the Russian version no longer has these, and the finish. The Russian SVD is a blued finish and the Norinco is a very durable gloss paint finish. Before you rag on the paint, realize this, that paint will never allow rust to happen on the finish of this firearm

If you have ever owned a firearm and lived in a humid area you will realize very quickly that it doesn't take long for surface rust to spread across the rifle. My NDM isn't a safe queen and gets regular use, and the painted finish is still chip free.

Respond to this video... For their surplus from long ago,, it must have been cheapest to mass produce (and much of that was for the M44^ which I also love). I was going to say their snipers use the 7n1 round today, though I just informed myself they replaced that with 7n14 in '99..

anyhow those were meant for them and not sold to my knowledge. US produces wolf rounds (non corrosive,, and expensive :o ), tracers, or incendiary rounds,, so for a price you can still be lazy :D

@1982vergil not quite a fair statement. There are a few different types of 7.62 rounds. The current body armor with ceramic inserts will stop the 7.62x39 round. However I dont know how well it would fair against the 7.62x51 (.308) round or this the 7.62x54 round. Probably not quite as well.

The thing is this is not a true sniper rifle it was made for long range support not for sniping positions since the range of the rifle is out striped by true sniper rifles another reason is it is outfitted with a bayonet for close combat situations the scope does not block the rail sights so mid range aiming can be done with out the scope

Although it may not be able to compete with the likes of the Chey Tac or L115A3, it will compete with the likes of other sniper rifles such as the M24, and M21. Most sniper rifles have back up iron sights as well, and a bayonet lug can be fitted to almost any firearm.

@NigelGriff Try one of the sound packs made for OFP or the first ARMA. You need to unpbo the pbo file, then find the file with the gun shot sounds and use one of the official sound fx converting tools to make them into wavs and then back into the game's file format. Or just unpbo them and move them to ARMA directly, if you don't want to listen to them first as a normal sound file.
