Nice... Pop's this baby off the deck before he was at Vr. to take the rolling drag off the mains. Drops the nose to stay in ground effect, for that extra lift neccessary to stay airborne, while he picks up the required airspeed for Vx, or Vy... Text book maximum performance short field takeoff...
nous avons de tres bon pilote de bush au canada mais celui la est tres tres bon, je voudrait avoir son nom , car j`ai un estime pour les tres bon pilotes
yes, without the STOL kit, with the kit you can get 37 knots, my friend has done it. by the way, i figured you meant knots, I woulda done the same thing.
Some of my favorite videos on youtube are of this guy landing his STOL Highlander on hilltops, after watching all his videos I searched to find who makes the "Highlander" and didnt find anything.
flyboy8492, what exactly is a "Highlander"? Is it a piper? Is it a kit plane?... an ultralite??
Check the link below if you have the interest and time.
Ya - I knew they were gone - and the short take off I Did was at Anc Intl Airport on a check flight... Scared the ____ outta me... Nothing like finding out the dork who cheated off you in high school was now the guy in charge of your life... Thanks Chris....

Perfect bush flying plane without a doubt isnt it capable of taking off at 45Knots?
USAFThunderBirdsFtw 3 years ago
Pending weight, 45kts is a bit extreme but light she'll pop up at 55-60kts or so full flap. Usually around the 80kts mark.
gnarkillkicksass 2 years ago
I believe the stall speed is 37 knots.
sorry about the late reply to the comment.

RE: flyboy8492
Impressive! Even the Warrior TDi I fly has a stall speed of 50 Knots (44Kts Landing Configuration)!
ChrizRockster 2 years ago
Nah, the stall speed isn't that low with this plane, it's just under 60mph with flaps at 40°.
jnjoblon 2 years ago
...oops, I meant Knots, not Mph lol.

an STOL means short takeoff and landing
I dont know what a highlander is, probably something like a kit plane to land in that distance, and I think I know what video your talking about
flyboy8492 2 years ago
I suspect you mean "Islander" not "Highlander"

no, I said what I meant and meant what I said, lol

I was a flight attendant on the otter for ERA in 1985... I had one short take off... and THIS take kicked ASS over THAT ONE>!
katpickett 3 years ago
Era never had to deal with very short runways. The ones it did deal with were state maintained. :P If you didn't know, the Era TOs are gone.

I think the runway would be better like it is in this video. Make it to long and the no skill prop jockies then think it is a nice place to go.

Right on. Did the Caravan land on the same size strip or was it bigger then?
droptube24 4 years ago
there was about 900ft when caravan landed, I will add that video soon.

Is the stall speed something like 58 kts in Twin Otter with flaps fully extended? Almost same as Cessna Skyhawk, crazy!
VirtualPilot13 4 years ago
Nice one
morrisonak 4 years ago
We had about 400ft packed down when he landed, the airstrip is now 2300ft.
