This is absolutely great. I love the idea. Any chance you could modify it so that the center of view to the front could be in the center?
I find myself having to look at the left side of the video to see where you're going, and then I am resorting to using only my right side peripheral vision to see behind me.
Fascinating to see both what's in front of you and what's in back of you at the same time. I'll bet people could be trained to see this way without feeling disoriented, the brain being the amazing thing that it is. Very cool.
actually very simple to do(well more simple than it would seem)...Ill probably show how i did it later on...but i used a chrome sphere from a lawn ornament, attached a metal pole to the center of the sphere and to a flashlight lens so the pole holding it is in the direct center of what the camera is looking at... then used adobe after effects to unwrap the circle using "polar coordinates" effect
Good video to watch when tripping on shrooms lol.

Weird question - could I see a clear 360 degree shot of the whole sky as you trancend out of darkness or obscured light?
Just curious.

look at a 360-degree image without distorsion. source is a camera using panomorph optics

That hasn't got anything to do with this, those lenses only cover a wider angle.
More specifically, twice as wider.

When recording like this, there is no center.
It is only what you choose to be the center when you unwrap the circular image to a rectangle.
