Its a nice move, for v/russian whateva sit just work flexibility and try to lift up from L sit, the more flex you have the less power you need to get your bum higher. I think dips help with tricep strength and for abs do leg lifts and sit in a pike stretch position and try and lift your legs from there for 20 little reps.
@asskickerfoo no it isn't...lol wtf it just takes more flexibility. it's harder to do a normal v-sit becuase it takes more balance to have your legs further out then right up vertical against your body. also if it's further away from your body, it engages the abdominal muscles more
@asskickerfoo i can do it and i find it easier to do it with my legs straight up. it's not even hard to understand why it's harder to have a greater angle between your torso and legs. its all about the stability in the abs
jesus christ V sit looks hard. i can do half lever for ages but if i try to lift higher (although I have the flexibility, i don't have the strength) i just fall backwards. soz for being weak but that's just how it is.

that's not a v-sit. your legs aren't supposed to be perfectly vertical. it's supposed to make a v-shape with your torso....hence "v-sit"
