Django and Grappelli together are amazing they are both equally talented musicians. one is not better than the other. they are like peanut butter and jelly.
@vestner mate are you serious? django was a great guitarist, he played that music in the 30's, is considered a genius for much people, also did you know he only used two finger to step on the strings? i challenge you tell everyone about another guitar player who could do that with a guitar in the 30's, c'mon, if you say that about django you surely know someone else better who played by that times.
@vestner Come on, you must be kidding about Django :) He is the only European jazz guitarist who influenced the jazz musicians in the states and also don't forget that his left hand wasn't 100% healthy.
It is true that nowadays with his technique wouldn't be a virtuoso but those were the early 1900s.
And of course Grappelli is an absolute master of his violin and adds a high value to this music :)

...Stephan Grapelli often said he learned his style of jazz violin directly from Django's guitar playing!!!

Not that Django isn't an amazing guitarist and take away from his glory, but Grappelli's violin work is what makes this music so beautiful imho.

@vestner ...Warlop had a hotter tone and South was all-around better, but neither of them had Stefane's sense of swing.
