thanx all, first of all ofcourse BOC, but also the uploader and the people who wrote comments. it's really great to read, the background, referals to other tracks, pointing out specific things in the tracks, it makes me listen to it even more closely, and with the comments in the back of my mind it ads to the experience. i just wish more people would leave comments like that on youtube instead of the boring and negative useless ones that u can find everywhere.. :)
@bobbygnosis I just see you said exactly the same thing a year ago in 2 sentences what i want to say,and i almost needed all characters xD you hit it right on the spot. :)
@eshnic Funny. That happens to me often. I feel strangely compelled to type something on videos that I like and then I find that someone has said something so profound or interesting that I decide to say nothing. On the other hand, why not say something? Haven't some of the greatest thinkers said things despite all trepidation? What else does one do on this spinning rock in space?
Oh well. For now I'll raise my cup of coffee in cheers to you.
Thank you--yes, to me, this song is like the optimistic counterpart of "Twoism", not just because of the drum sample being the same but due to the minimal style being almost identical, the only difference being the mood.
There are some absolute gems in Boards' old unreleased work, like the track "Spectrum" from A Few Old Tunes. It's just so strange, apparently they were a trio all the way up to the recording of Twoism, their third member assumedly being their drummer.
Now that you mentioned it, it does seem to be a much more lively counterpart to the much more darker "Twoism."
I never knew about them being a trio, thanks for letting me know.
Spectrum is great, as well.
Another of my favorite tracks from A Few Old Tunes is "Sequoia." There is also one i've been listening to from Old Tunes Vol. 2, "David Came to Mahanaim," which is honestly one of their strangest, but great works.
Yeah, almost all of their unreleased work is incredible.
:) Well, Twoism is much more melancholy, kind of like a bleak self-reflection. I wouldn't call any of their music dark except possibly Sixtyten and An Eagle in your Mind. Regardless, this third member of theirs apparently went on to do a musical project called "Christ.", complete with a period at the end. I've yet to listen to it myself but I'm intrigued and will do so as soon as I get the chance.
Also, I am also strangely addicted to Iraq Says, mainly because it gives perspective that the world wasn't really that much better back then, we just interpreted as that way because none of the major problems affected us yet.
Maybe I would add "Smokes Quantity" along with those songs, which have a "dark" feeling to them. I agree that none of their songs could be directly called dark, since I think all of them evoke different feelings about them.
Now you have me wanting to find that "Christ." album. If the third member was half as good as the BoC brothers, then that album should be great.
Yeah Iraq Says is really good. It also show to me how BoC were still finding themselves at the time and how they would evolve
The ChrisT tracks are excellent. You can sense the shared roots, but the evolution too. The melancholia is there for all to hear and it's touching in a slightly different way to BoC.
Holy crap, that kid is Matt Groening!

This might be one of the single greatest pieces of music BoC has produced.
They way it begins and the way that it maintains the single emotion that this song evokes is incredible.
Its haunting and beautiful and thoughtful.
Keep posting these videos, they're great.
