I'm depressed when I see people doing those vid showing their windows moving and some useless effects... ubuntu & linux is so good for many other things that no one point.......
For example, you can use many different programs without having any lag (and windows ones) when windows with a respectable computer crashes or lag very quickly.
I've stopped using ubuntu because of the games and compatibility for many kind of files.
@Xiloforce i am showing these "useless effects" because i want people to be attracted to it @ the first sight of it.. most people would not even give a second glance to this if it wernt for these effects...
these effects were the first to attract me to ubuntu...
@aceraezac btw the first time i typed in ~ idk remeber exactly i was like "cool desktop effects" and i saw the transparent cubs i was like WOW this guy must have on hell of a computer (and he probly did cuz it ran Vbox) but still and then i downloaded ubuntu 8.04 or 8.10 cant remeber

Also you say you have windows 7 ultimate. is it a genuine one or pirated?

A friend of mine that works with computers and stuff, went and had microsoft windows 7 courses, etc...and he got a full version for free.
I had a beta version (the one that was ready to release), he installed the full for me.
It is still user offensive, and my windows 7 is awesome, it doesn't crash (even the betas didn't crash), its fast, it looks great, and i have no viruses (i am careful).

if you took a closer look at your ubuntu, microsoft word , and excell all office are there in ubuntu,Open office, bundled with the operating system,
And if you take a closer look, again, u will see that Oen offiice is the same as MS word, u can save it as .doc and open the ubuntu created word doccument in the MS word. and vice versa, its totally compaible. and you dont have to pay for your Ms office, as you did! and dont say u got office also free. by the way open office is there for windows!
you were lucky enough to get a free windows 7, but so was every one else, microsoft provided every one with free windows 7 ultimate (Release candidate) valid till june of 2010 .
i tried it also, its a disaster as it is based on the previous windows versions, it is flawed, prone to viruses and you have to pay for softwares, just wait and see....oh! and i want attacking you, sorry if i offended you!

Windows 7 is the bomb, it is perfect for me, i just love it!
Ofcourse, viruses are a big problem, but that can be solved by not opening spam emails, by not clicking on dangerous sites (my AVG free detects infected sites and marks them with red), by not downloading p0rn through limewire, etc, etc.
I had a virus a fiew weeks ago...i scanned, and deleted...and it was GONE!

Windows 7 doesn't have virtual desktops like Linux or OS X. I have no need to play commercial games on my computer I'm not knocking gamers. Keep working with Linux and you still how powerful it is. Windows 7 is Microsoft's first OS to ofter creating .iso files with having to use 3rd a party app. Why is Microsoft still behind with those to issues.

Windows 7 looks better than linux, and is easier to use.
I've tried both, im not a computer expert, but i can tell you
ubuntu is a pain in the ass for the average user.

it loosk better, and is easier to use, and of course has about 10000 times more support / drivers/ software than ubuntu.

Show some of the functions that will be needed on a day to day basis
Such as how certain Distros will find drivers,have a software repository,or have many software for the average joe already packaged

I have Windows 7 ultimate full.
A friend of mine that works with computers and stuff, went and had microsoft windows 7 courses, etc...and he got a full version for free.

i get the same performance with an integrated intel card (i945gma).
With compiz you dont need an uber pc to get smooth eyecandy unlike aero
