Used it today, and used the Meguiar's polishing machine with it. Made the rookie error of starting the machine just before I applied the pad to the vehicle, and of course splatter everywhere I had just washed and dried, but hey, a good learning experience.
Fact is, I am of the opinion that this stuff worked as advertised. I did have to wetsand a few deeper scratches, but when compounded with Ultimate Compound they looked, well, they didn't look like anything because they disappeared.
@HeavenLastHope Si tienes que descontaminar todo el coche antes con la clay-bar, para dejar la superficie lo mas limpia posible antes de proceder a pulir
Just got done using this with my polisher and it worked wonder on an 1994 Acura that was oxidized and also took out minor scratches on the clear coat. I suggest if you use any powered tool that you do a wet application with a spray bottle. I found it worked better and a little went a long way. Also, follow the rule of polishing and do this in sections no larger than 3x3.
I was disappointed when I ran out of LIQUID EBONY. I've tried just about every product out there most with disappointing or lack luster results.
Just when I was about to give up I came across this product. I'm in love with it. It works!!!
I start with a wool bonet on rotary polisher and this product for a fast cut. Gotta be careful though, the wool bonnet and this product will burn an edge easily.
Then finish with a foam bonnet on a Porter Cable orbital polisher. Awesome!
this product has worked for me on the fleet of 76 cars i work on all showing swirls and faded paint and other defects. the professional i spoke 2 told me how 2 use it right and it works. i also use poorboys now due 2 workin in the sun alot and it hasnt let me down
@boofdfast if you used it in the sun it will do that. my tbird was dull as hell and i used this product and it brung it right back to life. i then followed it up with coat of meguiars nxt gen. 2.0 wax and its shining like hell still!! and that was 6 months ago.
@ridgygmcgeneralford Yea, maybe I should of used an orbital buffer. It seems like red cars fade more than other colors. Oh well, time for a repaint. lol
@boofdfast lol i know what you mean. i have a red 62 falcon im currently restoring. i used the ultimate compound on it and it helped but not as much as i was hoping. so i used some medium diamond cut cleaner and then the ultimate compound and it came out great!! too bad these products cant fix scrapes that are all the way down to the metal! thats a prob i have with the falcon so im just gonna paint it
@ridgygmcgeneralford Yessir, red is an awful color when it gets faded. That's why I have a wide range of different colors to repaint my Nissan... since it has a grey interior. So anything should go. lol
I have a white 1994 Town Car that has heavy swirling all over the body. The paint condition is still good ... no rust, fading or oxidation and there is still shine. But on certain angles you can see endless swirls and even scuffs in spots. I tried Meguiars Swirl X and didn't see much result ... is this the logical next step and do I need to follow up with Swirl X after using UC before waxing?
Hi MeguiarsUSA, can you please tell me what product to use to get rid of stains caused by bird droppings (I have a black painted car)? I used the Ultimate Compound and the Clear coat safe Rubbing Compound by Meguiars but it did not work. I did it by hand though and I am wondering if using an orbital would help. Is there another product that is more abrasive but clear coat safe that Meguiars makes?
@shinmajuk23 I just used this stuff today, the Ultimate Compound on a small area on my Sienna that had the selling dealer's decal on it but when I removed it it left some scratches and a hazy area. I did not know how abrasive it was, so I had to do it three times lightly but I finally got it all out and I am amazed myself, you might have to repeat it if the first or second round doesn't do it, it's not that abrasive.
You can use a piece of terry cloth with UC but it might haze your paint so if it does, go over the hazed area with a less aggressive applicator once or twice with LESS pressure to remove the haze(terry, m/f, foam.) The reason the dropping was so tough to get off is that it was probably not noticed or removed before it had time to etch through your wax (if there was any) and then into the clear.
Does a compound like this need to "break down" like a polish? I was going to use this with aPC XP buffer and was wondering how long I need to work it in. Some polishes take a few minutes to break down.
I do not think anyone answered you, UC and Swirl-X contain S.M.A.T. Super Micro Abrasive Technology and only need to be worked until your desired results have been achieved. Better to start with Swirl-X or maybe something milder on soft and/or lightly swirled paint as removing too much clear coat could result in having to respray. UC has a long "work time" in most conditions and it`s cut is influenced by type of pad, machine or arm speed, amount of product, and many other variables.
I used this stuff with a craftsman 7" buffer and wool pad and I couldn't believe the shine I got from it. It made the finish on my car look like glass. I've used a lot of different products through the years and this has been the best I've ever used. I'm not affiliated with Meguiar's, just stating fact in my case.
i use it on my front bumper it will last for 1 day and then ill wake up and see all the oxidation etc back so i dont like that it dont permanently remove the problem just hides it. i even went over the bumper with wax after the compound helps it last a bit longer but still it eventually comes back to the same old bumper =[
I don't understand that because this does not contain fillers, so it should remove the swirl marks not mask them. The only thing I can think of is your not working the product enough to do it's job. Some paints are very hard and need more rubbing!
try 3M's scratch remover, i used t in a deep scratch..but i really did put it on, buffed it off....put it one...buffed it off.... around five times. use a generous amount...do it five times so that the particles fill in the scratches...rub it in.
IT'S BEEN A YEAR , and i have been waxing my car every fiveweeks or so and until now i havent seen the scratch on my left side door again. Try it.
This stuff works very well. I only did one pass in a small area by hand, and the scratches and swirl marks are almost gone. I'm going to buy a DA polisher to do the whole car.
@davewhodavedunn Why don't you drive down to the United States. I see many Canadians buying stuff out here cause they don't sell it in the "great north".
@davewhodavedunn come to america! in buffalo we have a store named BJ's (come on get the jokes out) that sells a bottle of NXT 2.0 wax and this compound with a foam applicator for 15 bucks. 15 bucks will get you 2 reg size bottles of quick detailer and a bottle of quik wax as well. quick detailer alone is 10 a bottle. im so happy i found the automotive section at that store.
@davewhodavedunn Canadian Tire has carried it for quite some time. I just bought some today in Abbotsford. It's the best product for 1 or 2 stage paint.
@davewhodavedunn dnt worry ur not missing nothing. Ive bought this ultimate product and the swirl x and neither of them does anything. just seems like a better version of car wax. my swirl marks are very very very fine and light. and it couldnt even remove those... how ever i must say i dnt have a buffer. i didnt use a buffer. but i can say by hand nothings happening.
If its not working right for you then your doing something wrong. You may need a buffer. Modern paints can be quite hard and sometimes don't respond well to working by hand.
You can buy it but it's more agressive. If your paint has light swirls then buy swirlx. If it has heavy swirling and scratches then buy scratchx. You use this product as a cleaner or scratch and swirl remover. It also removes oxidation.
Once the paint is clean, wash the car and apply your favorite wax to protect your clean paint.
You may not even have to wash it first, that's just the way I do it.
Use a foam pad on a random orbital polisher.
Awsome product!!!

it was almost cream color and you couldn't see the carbon webbing at all
after 2 times using a 6" buffer til the compound is almost buff away
just run the compound until its no longer white
its a lot easier to wipe off
