  • Which Gaither video is this on? I so miss George Younce. Such a wonderful instrument of God's love.

  • My wonderful cat of 15 years passed away last month. But this song tells me he is in a wonderful place. Noooooootttttt! The crematory is not a wonderful place. He is not with his friends, his friends were not cinders. He went back to where he was before birth. Not a bad place or painful. You did not cry til you got here did you. Oblivion is Heaven.

  • if he didn't make but i sure he did we will alway be seeing him soon

  • AMEN!

  • I am so ready for God to take me home. I'm so tired of the pain others are causing. I'm so tired of being so tired. I'm so tired of my body hurting so much every day that I don't feel like I have a life. I am thankful that God gave me a husband almost 40 yrs a go that loves me more then he loves his own life. I know God is in control of my life.

  • This poem "Should you go first and I remain" and the song "Beyond the Sunset" are perfect match. Life is fragile but we share the same Hope and Unity in Christ.

  • our time on this earth is almost over.Soon Jesus will come in a cloud of glory to take us home.

  • Thank you so very much for sharing this with me. Its strange that this particulae prose should have been read and sent to me as my precious husband of twentyone years went on to be with GOD on our anniversary Aug 25th two weeks ago and he had a habit of taking daily walks at least three or four a day but due to my illness I could not walk that path with him and at a time of grieving and prayer to GOD I asked LORD if I only knew where he went on his walks and what he did or thought about.

  • Bless his beautiful heart!

  • I wish I had the oppertunity to sing this at my ( absent) fathers funeral, I never knew him, but I loved him and thus was huis favorite song, I was ionly 16 Y.o, when he passed, I maybe saw him 2 times in my life, but, guess what, WE look just alike, and I love him!!!!!!!

  • Mr. Younce... it is your tender song and voice that has allowed me to finally come to the grips of losing my husband and son some 12 years ago. If you can..keep watch over them there in heaven until I come home to greet them and greet you with a hug and gentle handshake

I can not imagine my life without her, but I know that one of us will probably be left behind in the not to distant future. If I am the one left, I will have to carry on just as you, but this song will stir memories of better days and reassure me that we will meet again on that other shore. • He has put to music a thought I oft times encounter as I watch my wife sleep and I realize we are not getting any younger. It takes a lot of years of marriage for two to fit together perfectly and then it is time for one to go. Alas for rapture.

  • Heartouching indeed !

  • Should you go first and I remain,

One thing I'd have you do:

Walk slowly down that long, lone path,

    For soon I'll follow you.

I'll want to know each step you take

That I may walk the same,

For some day down that lonely road

You'll hear me call your name.

  • I'll hear your voice, I'll see your smile, Though blindly I may grope, The memory of your helping hand Will buoy me on with hope. Should you go first and I remain, To finish with the scroll, No length 'ning shadows shall creep in To make this life seem droll. We've known so much of happiness, We've had our cup of joy, And memory is one gift of God That death cannot destroy.
  • Should You Go First by Albert Kennedy "Rosey" Rowswell Should you go first and I remain, To walk the road alone, I'll live in memory's garden, dear, With happy days we've known. In Spring I'll wait for roses red, When fades the lilac blue, In early Fall when brown leaves call I'll catch a glimpse of you. Should you go first and I remain, For battles to be fought, Each thing you've touched along the way Will be a hallowed spot.
