  • Hello, Antrimite here!

  • He sounds like a fag from Wisconsin when he does the American/ Canadian accent

  • Best of luck!

  • Im only kidding!!!!!

  • @reddogcollar No problem! Have a good one!

  • You're accent is awesome

  • @jyfosho - Thank you very much.

  • omg say irish wrist watch!

  • @mrspinkpie - Irish wrist watch!

  • I had no issues understanding you and I am one province over(Alberta). I think you are exaggerating your situation to be honest, because your accent is not at all that heavy.

  • @kipperfan02 - Howdy. That's cuz the Northern Irish and cowboys get on well :) The US accent is exaggerated but the story isn't. It actually happened. I only write about true stories. Cheers.

  • SAY POWER SHOWER

  • @grumpiergrim - PAR SHAR.....:)

  • @iancblack1 - I don't have a British accent, and I can assure you I'm as working class as working class gets. I'm from a council estate called Ballyduff! Thanks <3

  • @wheeliewooz - Ballyduff - I know it well. Please take my comments with a pinch of salt - it's all tongue in cheek. No offence meant. All the best.

  • @iancblack1 - Same to you, no offence meant at all, I like your video! <3

  • @wheeliewooz - Thanks. BTW - I grew up in Mossley so close to Ballyduff...Cheers!

  • @iancblack1 - Ohhhh YEY I have many mates in Mossley, and my sister lives in Old Mossley - God... such a small world when you get down to it! :) <3

  • You HAVE lost your accent somewhat, it's loaded with Canadian (ism). Also, I'm from Belfast and I have never pronouced ham as 'HOM'...... it's just HAM, without the american TWANG. I also worked in Toronto for 1 year, and not one person ever had a problem understanding what I said. It's one of the most multicultural cities in the world. They got me!

  • you spent 5 and a half minutes talking pure shite big son...you have successfully melted my fucking bap. dont even know where i am now or what i actually came on this laptop for. cheers ya big dick.

  • Everything is better when said with a gruff hay nay brayn cay at the end. :L

  • Dude, the greatest Export of ireland, north and south, has always ever been - not oil, or wheat, or machinery, or ships as Newcastle, or even coal. It has been her PEOPLE! You and I are of same, sep'd a long time since I am WAY a Colonial. But never ever EVER lose your N Ireland accent. EVER. It makes you the way you are. They may not like it, but indeed, they LOVE it. It is your home and it makes you interesting to them. Don't change it m8. NEver.

  • @1105Chance now thats irony. not one american can do a good irish accen

  • @keveydaking I can ;) but Northern

  • woop woop go northern ireland i live there woop woop

  • I too am an Irishman living in Canada. still got my accent too

  • @Specky4imblack

    Completely agree 100%

Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland have very different cultures, accents and attitudes towards different things. I've never really seen any actor execute a good NI accent. Only people from NI. Actors always do the typical East Belfast accent and classify it all all of NI!

  • @DJsubzero10 ballymena is nothing the same as belfast

  • Comment removed

  • can people start saying its a northern irish accent!! not irish its different trust me :) where not brazil where Norn Iron!! :P

  • I can understand all English accents. I like the British (Ireland,England, etc.) accents better. The English pronounce better their words and easy to understand. And the Irish emphasise it. I am Mexican and I seriously sometimes can't understand too good the American accent. Thank you for the video it was good to watch! xxx

  • I from Just outside of Vic! I know the ignorant I have never left victoria type people.

  • I live in Canada now. And my family lives In Belfast. They come to visit sometimes and when we goto mcdonalds they're like whaaaatt???

  • @1105Chance That's what is funny - me overemphasizing and exaggerating the US accent - you obviously didn't get the joke....

  • this made me laugh lol great video - your so lucky to have moved over there, im in belfast and cant wait to leave!

  • @jns201 - Thank you. Glad you liked it. Canada's great but there's no place like Northern Ireland! Most of my friends have moved back home. The grass isn't always greener.....

  • @iancblack1 fuck grass is so green it hurts your eyes there... dosnt mean its a great place to live

  • I'm frae norn iron

  • @shannong361 Me too!

  • hahahaha sorry about our accents?

  • Great video.. Move to the USA we love the Irish!

  • Me is from Belfast, me no have strong accent, but broad accent is da best!!!

  • what did you ask for at the end? a nice cold poke?

  • @Roneekz Hi - Yeh, a nice cold poke - Northern Irish for an ice cream. Cheers.

  • @iancblack1 I have an EU passort, prick. why you're in MY country, i dunno. nice tattoo and erm...shades btw. did you get those in the 70s too?

  • I'm canadian, living in ireland, working with northern irishmen and you're a twat.

  • You need to be in the Maritime provinces! My relatives have a similar accent!

  • As a native, I kind of wish it was easier to order a hom sommich in North America too.

  • your accent kind of reminds me of yoopers :)

  • @sillyjontag321 Thanks for you comment - Which came first the Irish accent or the yoopers accent?- Answer - Irish. So perhaps you could say yoopers accents remind me of the northern irish accent. :)

  • @sillyjontag321 Thanks for your comment - Which came first the Irish accent or the yoopers accent? Answer - Irish. So perhaps you could say yoopers accents remind me of the northern irish accent. :)

  • @iancblack1 I could, I'm just around yoopers more haha but yes your right just Irish accent came first, i think mainly Irish people settled in that area thats why they sound alike .. some words and vowels are said the same way by both of you.. i like Irish accents better tho :)

  • @iancblack1 Answer: neither. Both are equally as old. American accents are descended from UK (England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland) accents, yes, but 18th century UK accents, yeah? UK accents have undoubtedly changed just as much since then. So both are just as old. It's like disputing what language is older, French or English. Both are just as old.

  • @iancblack1 + @sillyjontag321 what's a yooper?

  • @sillyjontag321 Not even close to Da Yooper accent....

  • @CheckM8King2 kinda if you notice they both pronounce their R's alike and some vowel changes are the same, its kinda random and it doesn't really matter, please don't be offended. I know a lot of Yoopers and their not all like the stereotypical yooper

  • @sillyjontag321 Not offended...sorry if I sounded to harsh,,,,not my intention...LOL. u r right about the R sound...probably even the same with the T sound..like I drove tirty mile an hour....come to think of it I guess you're right guess - I'm wrong....LOL

  • Northern Ireland one is Decent!!!!!

  • I like your accent, but Canadian and American accents are SO different. Just as diverse as the Canadian accents are. You kind of remind me of Newfies!

  • meow!!! meeeeeooooooow

  • hes wearing glasses so you cant see that hes reading what he says hahaha

  • Sick Video. Sick accent, i wanna go to Northern Ireland later in life just to have sex with a northern Ireland chick to see how they sound/talk while in the bed.

  • norn iron.

  • Everyone shut the fuck up lol if your not gonna say anything nice then dont fucking say anything at'all

  • is it hard to become a canadian citizen, I'm from northern ireland also

  • I fuckin love you ya fuck in legend

  • I bet you were ordering in Smitty's. I had the same problem there.

  • @robertsez - Ha ha - I remember when I first arrived here I was obsessed with Smitty's until I realized there were other place to eat besides Smitty's. The food is so much better here - not the fish and chips though. Cheers!

  • your full of shit mate. i live in n ireland and i lived in canada for 10 weeks and no bother with problem.

  • @abelton2007 - You must have one of those annoying educated Irish accents that sounds more English than Irish I imagine...

  • @iancblack1 no i dont, i just have the fucking wit to speak clearly when i speaking to someone else with a different accent

  • @iancblack1 You sound like a virgin!

  • @reddogcollar - Thanks! You're right! 40 year old Irish virgin... LOL!

  • @abelton2007 narr mate your full of shit , they cant understand us half the time.. they also cant understand the rural redneck guys from the south either..

  • @frisky2dingo well i suppose if you type ''narr'' for the word no then they prob wouldent understand you. speak properly you tramp

  • Theres a difference between "American" and "northern" (canadian) accents

  • Finally, a fucking Northern Irish accent video that isn't a strong accent. I can now show people my accent.

  • Great vid. I never left NI but I've travelled a lot, always find the Northern Irish accent comforting to hear when I get back, ie 'I'm home!'

  • post traumatic sandwich disorder hahaaa brilliant :)

  • @jiableedsgreen - Thank you!

  • Northern Ireland is pretty interesting. My grandmother left there in '56 to live in Ontario.

  • My grandparents are from Killarney, so like most people in Canada I've always been curious about my roots and where I come from. Although I've never been to Ireland I'd like to go one day. I admit at first it seemed obvious to me that the north should be a part of the rest of the island and unite with the republic, but now I realize I should just stay out of it. It's none of my business. Anyway, the future looks good. The PSNI is 30% Catholic and Maginnis is Deputy Minister.

  • @shmiggen mate i live in NI and the majority of NI want to stay part of UK, it is like the falkland islands... sure it should be part of argentina but the majority of falkland islanders want to stay part of the UK, it is more complicated than a lot of irish diaspora think. NI is a safe place now since the good friday agreement and with the ongoing peace process, as long as protestants and catholics are both catered for and we eliminate sectarianism then itll be fine

  • @haz464 Here here! Well said. All the best.

  • @NIFootie2010 Dead On. Well said!

  • Wow. What a total fluke. I also live in Victoria and I've been researching the Troubles on Youtube. Total fluke. I bet you're happy you don't in NI anymore. Welcome to Canada.

  • @shmiggen - Thanks for the welcome. I have first hand experience of the Troubles, having grown up there in the 70s. What are your ties with Northern Ireland or are you just interested? Cheers

  • @shmiggen It's changed quite a bit shmiggen. I'm happy in NI, don't think that its the same place it was then.

  • @shmiggen im from northern ireland nd his accent his nothin compared 2 mine im real norn irr lakk d i wudnt move away from this country 4 the world i wanna stay here nd here my bros talkin about the riots nd those fuckin catholic bastards lol

  • @rj4525 - Thanks for your comments. Glad it made you laugh. All the best. Ian

  • @Jonnyrus132 do you have an norn iron accent?

    hehe i do :L

  • going to Kelowna, British Columbia for three months this summer Im from Carrick, NI will people understand me ok?? lol and will they all think im irish?

  • @TheFluteBandLad - Hello. You're going to a nice place - Kelowna's a BC hotspot. Don't bring your DMs :) Your accent won't be a problem. Canadian's are polite - if they don't understand you they won't say - they'll just nod their head. I became Irish when I moved to Canada as they didn't want to hear the Northern/Southern question. They'd say, 'So you were born in Ireland and you have an Irish accent - to us that means you're Irish...' All the best. Ian

  • @iancblack1 haha thanks....whats DMs? and whats the weather gunna be lyk during the summer?

  • @TheFluteBandLad - It gets pretty hot there 80s-90s in the summer, hence the joke to leave the DMs at home. Not sure if you've been before but I'm sure you'll love it there. Cheers.

  • @TheFluteBandLad Kelowna is such a beautiful city ! I lived there for 2 years. For your question, I think they should. Have a great time !

  • I hate wen ppl cant understand my accent wen they cant i scream in their ear haha from NI btw

  • @billybobongames - Good one. I'll try it!

  • Hi Ian, I had to stop by and see your videos again. Really love all of your but this one stands out. I'm always lifted when I see this one. Thanks and have a great weekend. Your friend, Vicky

  • @VickyGoss - Thanks Vicky. Glad you like this one. Ian

  • why do foreign ppl love N. Irish accents? i really dont know. btw im frm N.I

  • @Aisling251

I'm also northern irish, i cant stand our accent. My boyfriend is american and he loves it.. its weird

  • @Aisling251 - I've no idea. I can't stand listening to my own accent....:)

  • don't lose that accent!:D its lovely..someone commented on my videos asking if im from northern island..so i came by to see how they actually sound like. :P and now i dont want to stop this video because of your accent;)

  • kk, ur gay

  • Your accent really isn't hard to understand. I have no idea where their confusion came from. Then again I've always been good with accents, probably has something to do with all the British shows I've watched lol

  • @freakyfro99 how the buck is it hard to understand?

  • @Aisling251 - Some people here have never left this place and have grown up listening to a Canadian/US accents only. So, whenever they hear anything foreign it's shock, horror, and they're dumbfounded. Lots of well travelled people here so my accent's not a problem. All the best. Ian

  • @freakyfro99 It depends on the region hes from ive never seen him before but it depends...i have irish friends i have to focus so hard to understand and are suuuuuuper thick where as i have others in other parts that are different and that sound more near what he sounds now....also some parts sound even american to even other irish yet americans think theyre irish...if that makes sense :D

  • up the RA

  • @DarkSparkNI up your MA

  • @DrRhythmStyx MPhil

  • @iancblack1 Lol, I would consider taking a philosophy course but I believe you need English at A level, I did not follow it on that far unfortunately...

  • @DrRhythmStyx - Good on ya. All philosophers talk bollocks anyway - I still haven't a clue what they're on about and I don't think they do either....

  • Better learn that Canadian accent eh eh eh.

  • I like how the Irish guy wears a green shirt.

  • Good one mate/M8. Yes, Canadian here. Had the same hilarity in Larne. You know where that is. It was comical. It took awhile, but we got it all right. No sarcasm or wit intended; I was a guest in Northern Ireland. Lovely folks. I know when to toss the switch. Great video.

  • @EasilyWowed -- thanks for your comments. I used to live about 4 miles from Larne - know it well. Cheers.

  • @iancblack1 where did you live im from carrick?

  • @TheFluteBandLad - Antrim town

  • Trathnona Dea. Your accent is beautiful and your video is very funny, btw. You definitely sound Irish to me, heh. :) Many people in Michigan especially of those of the Upper Peninsula sound quite like Ontario, Canadians. When I moved from Arkansas.. I had to adjust to the nasal tones of many. ;)

  • @silentsoliloquy82. Hi there. Thanks for your kind comments. Happy you liked my video. Was that Irish you were speaking?

  • @iancblack1

Yes, it was Gaeilge. I have a friend in Northern Ireland who taught me a bit of the (Gaelige) Irish language. :) No problem as for the compliments as I was just speaking the truth.

  • You're good.

  • @Mottahead Thank you for that

  • @Jonnyrus132 Yep he must never loose hes accent

  • it's funny cuz canadians are annoying

  • Thumbs up for Post Traumatic Sandwhich Disorder. lol

  • Just here seeing how this compared to Bubzbeauty's accent. I always thought it sounded fake.

  • Sounds very much like the accent from Northern Ontario, ironically :D Around the Sault St. Marie area anyways.

  • @jakevelez Yes $30 an hour :)

  • Thank you for all your comments. I appreciate them. I try to respond to them all and hope I don't miss any. Cheers. iancblack1

  • Hahaha, you are so funny with those face expressions :D

  • @Akira2665 . thank you. My 4 year old son loves my facial expressions also - Northern Ireland taught me well! All the best.

  • Antrim accent is the best.

Belfast is too dirty, Ballymena too sheepshaggy, Antrim just right

  • @nhorsey - Ha ha. How do you know I'm from Stiles? You're profile says you're 22 - your parents perhaps? Cheers

  • love it though! haha!

  • @cbellbagxo - Thank you

  • oh wow, we sound so odd!

  • @cbellbagxo Ha ha - Speak for yourself! :)

  • @iancblack1 - i know, but it's just compared to like the american and stuff, like on tv, if someone from belfast comes on it's like wooww! you can tell we're different! :D

  • @cbellbagxo - You're right. We do sound strange, but then so would an American in a Northern Irish movie with Northern Irish actors. Cheers.

  • I myself am from Belfast, and now am living in Edmonton, and am a member of the Orange Lodge here. Ever thought of joining the one in Victoria?

  • @LordWellington15 - Greetings. I thought the Troubles were over? I left the Troubles, politics and religion behind me when I left N.I. 30 years ago. Thanks for your comment. Cheers.

  • belfast alltheway :D

  • @MrPeeonyou yee haa

  • Hello Ian i know what you mean, i was in London when i was younger i asked for fry and i told the doll what i wanted on it she stood and looked at me and asked "Do you come with subtitles love" lol

  • @CRAFTYMARCUZ - that's funny - what I'd give for an Ulster Fry. they haven't a clue over here!

  • I'm from Canada and I understand you completely. But that's probably because I'm not retarded. :)

  • @BlissfullyNerdy Me neither - last time I looked. Thanks

  • Comment removed

  • @ColorBlind4Life thanks for your comment I think - you removed it:)

  • I'm Canadian and I am from northern Canada, Me and my friends sound similar to you in a lot of ways.

  • @ColorBlind4Life - Good to hear. Some people here don't actually know I'm Canadian - they think I'm from some remote part of Canada.

  • @ColorBlind4Life - I mean Irish. Doh!

  • hey me freind...me parents live in victoria...came to canada in sixties....they live in victoria now..from the shankill road...you seem like a good guy...fuck all those uptight people...annywaya i was watching you're video here...and i think i had too manny pints...so off i go..take care...(all the best...as in....georgy best!

  • @u2trev Hey Trev. Thanks for your comments. I'd love to meet your parents here in Victoria - we have some Irish geographical similarities, if you know what I mean. I was back in Belfast 2009 and it was great to see the George Best International Airport - the least they could do for arguably the world's best footballer ever. All the georgy best to you too. Ian

  • @Thelengendarymark - I grew up in Mossley and moved to Antrim town when I was 11.

  • @iancblack1 lol i live in mossley, just round the corner from the mill

  • @iancblack1 i live in antrim town now!! it's a shit whole.

  • I am Canamericam Southern drawl canadianby birth southener always...

  • I heard much harder Irish accents

  • Well done Ian. Great entertaining video and a brilliant point. Jeez all that trouble for a fucking ''Ham sandwich''. I'm from Derry City and know exactly what you've experienced as I've been working and living in NYC for quite a few years, and apart from having to really slow down my speech for them to understand, there isn't much else you can do.

  • @angels77100 - Thanks for your comment. I love NYC - I'm envious. I moved to London when I was 16 and worked a large store. Some English customers would ask if I could get someone to assist them that could speak English - True story. I think my speech slowed down after that.

  • That was beautifully written!

  • @pleezstopdancin2 - Thank you for your comments and recognizing that I'd actually written my wee story! Cheers.

  • Northern irish accents are SO hard to get rid of LOL me da's from Belfast, but I was born and live in spain (or speean), well, I learnt english and spanish at the same time and caught a Belfast accent, even though I never lived there, everybody thinx I'm from N'Abbey hehehe

  • @CrUithNee - Thanks for your comments. I'd prefer to live in Spain than N.Ireland. I grew up in N'Abbey and it rained everyday!

  • @iancblack1 uff... yeah, when I went there in summer my uncle used to talk about liquid sunshine LOL

    You're from N'Abbey!? grand!

  • im from Belfast, i dont like our accents, but yours sounds quite nice lol, i didnt know what a 'poke' was until my mum told me haha

  • @roisin171 - Thanks for your comments. Glad you liked it. Didn't know they stopped using the term 'poke' back home.
