A nice phone size. I have a 4" screen phone at the moment - if I'm looking at it for too long it hurts my eyes - I think it's just a bit too small.

Next phone, I wouldn't mind trying out something this size.

they made it 5.3 because its the optimal size., just like there are tablets that are 7.7 as well as 7.0 but then there are tablets that are 8.9 instead of just 9.0 and 9.7 instead of 9.5 or 10. and of course there's 10.1

the only tablets that come in round numbers my friend is 5.0 for the Dell streak and a hand full of 7" tablets. also keep in mind the aspect ratio of these tablets which are 16:9 or 16:10 hard to maintain that by worrying about round numbers for screen sizes.

@JonGarrett2008 that's what I said... dell streak is 5" and the new HTC Titan is 4.7 which are much better chices than 5.3...... what you wrote doesn't really make much sence, because there are almost any size of screen chioces in tablets. staring from 5 to 12.1..... so this is a PHONE it should have been 5" or less...... like 4.5 (Glaxy s2 US, Infuse 4G etc.) also new HTC Titan with 4.7! (best chice in my opinion)

5.3" inch is just way too big for a Smartphone :)

What YOU wrote doesnt really make sense man. who told you phone should be 5" or less? its just because you think 5" is too big for you. and designers dont choose the screen size just because the numbers sound good. they consider a lot of things, size for thumb keyboard, main functions of the phone, arrangement of the hardware within the device etcetc. think of a larger picture.
