  • yes, people dont know what is bass guitar.... and how difficult is play as Mike LePond

  • i think those people don't know "bass guitar"

  • Wow, fuck the crowd. Nobody appreciates good bass playing when they see it.

  • Good luck who film this! = suerto el que filmo esto!

  • through the looking glass?

  • woww

  • The odyssey *_*

  • The whole band is simply awesome!!!! EVERY MEMBER OF THIS BAND IS AMAZING!!!

  • 2 masters named Michael

  • @indiaf4 3, there's michael pinnela too...

  • @123321153351 the three gods...

  • no camera guy, just no. pan back to lepond and lets hear him play more

  • thumbs up for Lepond here :)

  • Fuck what an insult to michael lepond.

  • They were cheering both, everybody at a Symphony X show knows how badass Michael Lepond is :D

  • Meh, i still miss Thomas Miller.

  • after seeing the bass stuff for "Domination" I have sooooo much respect for Lepond

  • I want to be like Michael Lepond Cos He is Kick Ass, But he is so Underrated :(

The People Must Pay More Atention To The Bassists! >=(

  • @TheGaustBass haha u mean guitarist. and its kinda get hard to get the spotlight playing with michael romeo

  • Fuck i want that carparison! x.x

  • Mike Lepond is one of the greatest bassists on the planet!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mike LePwnd

  • OMG

  • kjckass duel both excellent old school playing.

  • I have to say... the chord progression is VERY similar to the one in comfortably numb solo

  • i had the opportunity to meet em all. lepond is such a humble easy going dude. hes a hell of a bass player, awesome.

  • Symphony X should have at least a few bass solos like this on their next album.

  • @13guitard00d domination bass solo kicks as

  • If by best you mean sloppy and overrated, sure.

  • pwned

  • Pity the audience are a bunch of fags.

  • Your faux sense of elitism is just as annoying as your tendency of being a grammar Nazi.

  • ...apples and oranges.

  • Ultra-extended Through the Looking Glass. Awesome solos!!!

  • I have always thought Michael Romeo could make it as a solo artists under his own name, he definatelly has the talent to do it.

  • the best one was Thomas Miller, former Symphony X bass player. Unbelievable parts on Divine Wings of Tragedy and Twilight In Olympus !!! And what a sound!

Lepond is good but I don't like his way of playing and his sound !

  • thats a fucking bassist!!!

  • I think to be more appriciated Lepond should make some instructional videos for bass or some solo stuff to show off that he has plenty of talent. JM from DT does that and people think he is a great bass player :)

  • Myung hasn't done anything 'solo' since his instructional vhs in like '95. Myung=overrated, Lepond=underrated; both are great bassists. In terms of 'metal' bassists, neither compare to Troy Tipton of Zero Hour.

  • All of u shut the Fuck up and watch the God damn Video MAN!!!!!!

  • i feel bad for the bassist

he does a kick ass bass solo and gets like a few claps

and then as soon as romeo starts

    everyone goes apeshit

and romeo plays for like 2 minutes

  • Michael Lepond is fucking great bassist and I know it every fan of SX should know that he is as good as michael. Greatest band

  • yes people don't appreciate bass as much as the guitar

  • Yea, I know, but that is how it works, haven't you noticed electric guitarists get a lot more attention than bassists? And a lot more praise.

  • Not to sound like a major prick, but i think it's mainly because guitar players have a bigger and more significant role than bassists do.

In my opinion, it's cool to have a killer bassist, but I know I could do just as good without one.

  • Yo, I think I know you from a certain guild we're both in :P

But yea, I know what you mean, but w/o a bassist, the sound will be greatly reduced due to the lack of BG music (Bass and drums).

  • there is no Bigger or more significant role in music, vocals and guitar are the melody and the drums and bass are the rythm, and the bass can be involved in the melody aswell

  • @allstarcmanscuzin Yes! You read my mind. It is so true

  • @allstarcmanscuzin

Yep I saw him last Thursday night (24-03-2011) at the Corporation in Sheffield, UK and he was fantastic. He did not do a solo but there were many parts of equal difficulty and interest. Tight as hell but with feel and loads of mini riffs.

  • @EgoShredder Can't wait to see them in May. Was Romeo drunk? I've never been to one of their concerts, but i've heard stories like that.

  • @allstarcmanscuzin

    Seemed sober but who knows!

  • @EgoShredder As long as he can still shred XD

  • @allstarcmanscuzin

Boy can he! Actually he does more legato than shredding/picking but still damn good at both. Now if only I could get to see Tony Macalpine solo with a great band, doing his NON Jazz influenced Neo-Classical stuff! My life would be complete! I've only ever seen him as a sideman flunky for Steve Vai, so that does not count. There's a new TM album due soon I think!

  • @allstarcmanscuzin I agree man.. I was at the Hollywood show earlier this month and also really for the first time ever, really took an interest on the bass player (Michael Lepond to his respect). I'm a guitarist, but I feel like bass players are a very crucial part ( shit, the whole band really, i mean, you have an awesome vocalist, keys players and drummer..along with this awesome bassist) of a band. I really took interest in taching this dude jam out! My hat to ALL YOU BASSISTS! U R IMPORTANT

  • God bless Michael Romeo ;) The best guitarist on this fuckin world :)

  • victor wooten would own this bassist, not really a fair competition.

  • wooten is only good for amazing grace

  • not true, you obviously only listened to the first thing that came on youtube search. listen to his stuff with bela and the flecktones and also his rendition of norwegian wood and overjoyed.

  • the problem with you is you assume that anyone with a different opinion has to be ignorant. i've heard plenty of wooten

  • so you have heard lovers leap and wasnt moved by his smooth soulful basslines.

  • wooten is a good bassist but you must remember this is a completley different music genre

  • Wooten has his own thing and so deos Lepond and Myung is a monster bassist of his own kind they all are phenomenal!

  • Technically I would say Myung is one of the best in the world, Wooten is like a short version of Bill Dickens

  • I haven't heard of Tipton, but the best metal bassist is most likely Roger Patterson.

  • you haven't heard about Judas Priest???? oh my God ;d

  • @HuberttXXX17 who hasn't heard of priest? whoever it is i feel very sorry for them, they are deprived

  • Satch tought Vai and Hammet and several others.

  • Never forget the man who surpassed the teacher ... Alex Skolnick

  • what was the name of that song?

  • "Through the Looking Glass"... from "Twilight in Olympus" ...

is the SX album "I love less" ... BUT ... It's a Masterpiece like all the others! xD

  • Through The Looking Glass is one of the greatest song of SX IMO tho.

  • 1:44 Holly............

  • Yeah, Oyster Bay in long gailand New York. lmao

  • ur retarded , a complete asinine imbecile

  • Cool. Thanks. Nice speaking with you.

  • Mikey, give more room to the other Mikey. :p

  • No one spanked anyone. Apples to oranges.

  • Lol, that wasnt a duel. That was an ego trip... -_-

  • "Famous NYC shredders check out this list

    Michael Romeo"

    Romeo = NJ

  • that poor bassist...he never had a chance.......

  • Lepond is so underrated! The guy is a fucking bass beast...

  • For sure, to be honest he couldn't be in the band without being a fantastic player, Symphony X's music is no where near easy on any instrument.

  • @iluvsystemofadown It takes an amazing musician to step into Thomas Millers shoes

  • @iluvsystemofadown yeah i can't count the number of times I think that listening to him lol

  • Famous NYC shredders check out this list

    Satriani

    Vai

    Petrucci

    Vinnie Moore

    Michael Romeo

    Take that west coast!

  • symphony x is kick ass

  • Michael Romeo on the electric guitar!!!

  • fuck!! they didnt play 'through the looking glass' on their latin american leg of paradise lost tour 2008!!!

  • yes indeed it is around that price. I am going to be broke lol. But it's christmas lol

  • MJR is my absolute inspiration as a guitarist, i've just ordered his new caparison model for when it is released, it's the only one which is legally coming into the UK (unless you go to japan to buy one) i can't fucking wait!!!!!

  • isn't that one about 2500 euro??

  • Beautiful guitar...

  • Mike Lepond was my bass teacher for about a year in 2005. Great to see how well he's been doing.

  • that was some of the most amazing, geniously doings of lepond an romeo ever! duel in the middle of through the looking glass xD

    great sound

    very good recorded!

  • not exactly a duel, duels go back and forth, and romeo just spanked lepond on the derrier anyway.

  • que pedazos de musicos se gasta esta banda, si parece que hasta respiran a la par...

  • This sounds incredible!

Now, only if Myung/Petrucci did this...........

    EVEN BETTER!! if Romeo/Lepond/Myung/Petrucci did a 4 way duel..........*Drools*

  • ...This footage is fucking incredible...

Romeo is up there with the bests...and he fucking rules them !!...LOL

I love these "stylized" variations on a song...

    Thanks for putting this up...

  • the sound is more important... and i dont think you listen with your eyes ;)

and yes: he truely is the best bassist ever...

  • not much of a duet... needed some more bass stuff! man what a great bassist. not very often you hear bass solos

  • i wanted to have seen more bass in tehre =)

  • what's the song they go into after the duel?

  • Through the Looking Glass

  • Thanks

  • Well, the solo "duel" actually is an extended part II of the song.

  • everyone in SX is surprisingly nice! and they are perfect live

  • not only is he a fucking geat bass player but a surpisinly nice guy. No rockstar drama when I met him. What a fucking band.

  • Most people don't realize it, but LePond is a son of a bitch on the bass.

  • agree, i think he's one of he best bass player.

  • Great!

  • Awesome.. their both very goood

  • Fucking Epic.
