In my opinion it was completely irresponsible, and as a nation of experience and history: there was no need to piggy-back on the blinkered, materialistic views of another: their mistakes should have been theirs alone. I think that would be self evident. It is terrifying that a nation that fought (allegedly) for Freedom, Liberty and Justice for all - not just the wealthy ruling classes (as in Britain) which is still a Monarchy based society known for great atrocities (i,e. India, S. Africa, et al)
