  • Beaultiful song ! he is a nice pianist of Japan!

  • i bet when he is playing in his mind there must be many beautiful and wonderful things happening :)

  • What a fantastic composition. It sounds very warm and soothing. Thanks Nobu !

  • Dreadful and dreadfully out of tune piano - horrible cheesy cliche pop-lounge style music. What's not to LOVE about this?

  • he is absolutely gifted!!!

  • I love this song! Gives me a chill :)

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

  • Thank you for posting this video. I loved every moment and enjoyed the antique piano sound.

  • I hate to be a downer here, because I think he's an amazing pianist. I watched all of his performances at the Van Cliburn via the web, and he was awesome. But, unfortunately, this piece is just plain bad. Sorry. It has no originality and is just plain boring. It sounds like elevator music, and not very good elevator music at that.

  • @WiseCookie74 lol

  • @WiseCookie74 I am possibly Nobu's biggest fan in the world, and I do know how you feel. I have an aversion to easy-listening new-age music myself. Nobu now (Aug 2011) has an album of his own compositions that has just come out in Japan. It's not for everyone, but I have come to admire some of his pieces - try his "What the Wind Carries" video, uploaded by me, for example. There are just too darned many pianist virtuosos these days - Nobu does need something other than piano playing.

  • @WiseCookie74 More on this. The truth is, classical piano music is a HARD sell these days. I uploaded quite a few Nobu videos and I know for a fact that his own compositions get far more views (with one happy exception, the "Raindrop" prelude), and people who watch youTube (possibly including you) don't buy CDs. Nobu enjoys composing, and he's doing it for films and commercial tie-in's in his homeland. You must realize that unlike other pianists, Nobu has a staff to support .

  • that piano doesn't do him justice.

  • I invite you to watch a short video about Nobuyuki Tsujii composing this piece - he performed part of it in that video - and the sound quality is better. The title of that video is "Nobuyuki Tsujii composes House of Wind". You can see how this piece is actually very beautiful, Also, with any luck, we may see an upload of a concert performance of this entire piece that was shown on Japan TV recently.

  • You make me so happy.

    Tank you Nobu.

  • for god's sake couldn't the cliburn people have tuned the freaking piano for the reception. did they not think one of the dozens of pianists would perhaps sit down at it? fools.

  • Nobu is a genius in more ways than one.

  • even if my own dreams are never accomplished it makes me feel so well inside to see someone else , especially Nobuyuki<3, achieve such prestige and happiness... i enjoy listening to him so much!

  • Bravo!!! Thank You for sharing your talent~

    All God's goodness~

  • Nov. 24 2010 - if you hurry and search "Nobuyuki Tsujii Morning in Cortona" you can watch a youTube video of Nobu performing a beautiful composition "Morning in Cortona", plus a snippet of the ending of his Tchaikovsky Concerto 1 performed in Corpus Christi last month. This video may not last, so hurry!

  • Another Nobu music treat: there is a classy video put out by Avex (Nobu's Japan music label) of the making of his "My Favorite Chopin" album:

The video features Nobu's recording of Chopin's Nocturne op.27 #2 on the sound track, with footage of the recording session of the album that took place in Berlin in March 2010. You will see Nobu being led to the door of the studio, walking in snow.

Search "nobufans" to get on a site ("Nobuyuki Tsujii Fans”) that has a link to this video.

  • @mlliu2006 Do you know if that has the entire recording of his raindrop prelude performance? There was a short snippet of it on this channel but I really want to see it in its entirety.

  • @demosj

    >do you know if that has the entire recording of his raindrop prelude?

No, and what I wouldn't give to hear the whole thing. I thought about writing to ask the Cliburn people but the sound quality isn't that great on this recording. So my hope is for Nobu to record it someday. Meanwhile, I recommend his "Chopin Works" CD, which has some preludes ( "The Storm", etc.), beautifully played when Nobu was only 17. See my site ("Nobuyuki Tsujii Fans”) by searching "nobufans" on google.

  • @demosj

    >I really want to see (the Raindrop Prelude" in its entirety.

New development: According to a source in Japan, there will be a TV special aired on New Year Day in Japan of Nobuyuki's recital in Tokyo on Nov 7 2010. Nobu reportedly played Raindrop and House of Wind for encores. If anyone knows how to get hold of a copy of a video of this Japan TV Special in U.S. format, I for one would love to hear from you.

  • "There is something magical about Tsujii, who seems physically -- ecstatically -- inhabited by the music." -- art critics John Fleming, "Nobu-mania at the Capitol", a review of Nobubyuki's recital which appeared in the St. Petersburg Times, Florida, U.S.A., on October 25, 2010

  • so nice they tuned this piano for him!!!

Terrible knowing someone so great was going to play!

  • He looks so happy when he is playing... Beautiful...!!! And his smiles are so cute!!!

  • @KogumaMischa seconded :)

  • Oh I didn't know he came here to Spain, to Valldemosa!!!!!!!! Did he pass by Barcelona?? What a pity!!!

  • shaking his head NO NO NO NO NO NO i dont want it NO NO

  • @hohohee1 it looks more like the figure eight or infinity symbol to me :)

  • What a treat! A big thanks to the Cliburn Foundation.

I head that there was a TV special in Japan recently (Oct 23) about Nobuyuki's visit in Majorca; I assume that this work was performed as part of the show. I hope some Japanese fans will do us the favor of uploading a better recording of this piece.

  • @mlliu2006 I saw that show on Oct 23. They only showed first part of this piece (not the arpeggio part). I hope someone will upload a better recording too.

  • @KogumaMischa

Many thanks for the reply! We might just have to wait until Nobuyuki's next CD to hear the whole thing! As a big fan, I must say that I wish Nobuyuki would compose more in the vein of Chopin instead of, ah, new-age. But "Whisper of the River" and parts of this piece are both lovely.

  • Beautiful composition but sounds quite "tin-like"... due to the piano or recording device, I wonder?

  • wow, very nice

  • Thank you for a wonderful music. It really hits my heart deeply. Happy sound!

  • amazing
