  • OMG this actually worked??!

  • lets sue telltales for bad story and stupid puzzles

  • That's cool, but who the fuck has the patience!?!

  • how did you get that

  • It would take about 70 days of nonstop playing, at a rate of about 1 grub per minute to reach 100,000 grubs the old-fashioned, non-cheating way.

  • Dusky leaf monkey.

  • ... wow.

when I heard De Cava saying that you need 100.000 grubs i knew that they were going to do some sort of easter egg but that they were actually going through with it... I'm buffed. It would have been better though if he gave you the choclea as an item allowing you to view the cutscene and didn't just skip to the rising of the ship.

  • Lol i tryed this it takes forever and its barly worth it unless you record it

  • Wow you can really collect the 100k grubs. I wonder how long it would take someone to do that.

  • not fake just used a cheat engine

  • i cannot believe this... who in his right mind would have this much patience?

  • only god my son :)

  • Amazing! This crossed my mind but there was no way I was going to try it! I like the cut of Telltale's jib.

  • i was thinking about ttrying this myself, but thought no one in their right mind would be able to gather that many.

  • Wow... this is why Telltale are amazing. "dusty leaf monkey"... :D

Wonder if Armato and the other guy knew that these lines would probably not be used (or maybe they were intended to be used but abandoned/thrown in as an easter egg)

  • Nice! One question though... how does the story progress if you do this?

The other poster had a good, related question -- what happens if you still have Murray in your inventory, or what happens if you don't get Murray at all?

  • The storyline will be the same and Murray will be not longer in your inventory, but again on the skeleton.

  • i read a comment on the telltale forums from a telltale cre member that sumwhere in the 100,00 de cava says some lines

  • This is true: the extra lines are at 50,000 and 99900. (I did not discover this; someone else at the forum figured it out). I've tested it, but didn't make a video.

  • ah kool :)

  • Very nice attention to detail. Although, without a cheating program, such a task would be... hurrgh, I shudder to even think of its actual length.

  • i have thought about to give DeCava 100k grub but indeed haven't got all my life for, but i've ever thought someone will do that either with cheats or not, i didn't believe to see that way, cool for that thks !

( sorry for my grammar, french guy )

  • Oh - my - fuc - king - god! :D

  • Well surely avoid scurvy if we all eat an orange

  • ahh dude no way! LOL brilliant!

  • Hi; author here. This is indeed real; I used an old program 'CheatOMatic' to find where the number of grubs given to DeCava is stored in memory and changed it to 99,999 to see what happened when I gave him the 100,000nd grub. (Once I figured out that the game was keeping track I figured there had to be *some* kind of payoff). But no, I didn't sit around and give him 100k grubs.

In regards to screwing with the crew: the game picks up as if you had surfaced in the 'normal' way.

  • Wow! Nice work! Dusky leaf monkey! :-D

  • Can you explain exactly what have you done with CheatOMatic? I'm trying to do what you've said but it's not successfull... You can send me a mail if you want.

  • Pretty simple. I started before I had given DeCava any grubs. Gave him 3. Searched for '3' in CheatOMatic. Continued to give him grubs and search for the updated value (eg. '4', '5') after each grub. By 7 it had locked on to the memory value, and I set it to 99,999.

  • Wait a sec...

You still had Murray in your inventory, what happened to santino?

  • Wow. I definitely want the author to comment on this

  • WOW! Is this real? :D

  • Yes, this is real. I'm working on the french translation of Tales Of Monkey Island and we have found these lines of text in dialogs files.

  • Seriously? No way!

  • Whoa. You sir, are a true fan.

  • . . .My god.

Wouldn't that screw something with the crew after that point story wise though?

  • WHAT? no way....
