I used to ref highschool games, i quit to continue coaching, heres the deal, "most" refs wont call a travel unless it is really bad or you use it to gain an unfair andvantage. this rhythm of shooting is very common with youth today, and is rarely called a travel from what ive seen., maybe if the shot was being contested and you hopped to the side, but as an open jumper i think you are pretty safe
I don thtink its a travel really, but i think its leading to an extremely slow release if you dont work on shooting without those extra steps. Talking about Ray, look at how he instantly goes up - he has his rhythm down so he doesnt need any hop or step prior to catching/shooting.
nice shooting...but always get that elevation...when u get tired thats when u should practice ur shot...cuz ur legs r weak and if ur tired and getting that elevation imagine the elevation u will get when ur not tired.
It's not a travel but it's VERY VERY close to being a travel that might get called by some refs.
Tip: work on shooting off your other leg. You seem to be compensating a lot on the same form, I duno how well your other leg is but there's gonna be a lot of times you won't be able to set up your jump shot off your left leg. Gotta be able to shoot off of both legs accurately.
Shot looks good but you are practicing a travel and it will limit your ability to add a shot fake and a secondary move because you will and should be called for traveling every time. Time your two steps as the ball is coming not after it comes to your hand,.
thanks for the input. i know it seems like a travel but if you watch closely my foot is steeping out right before the ball touches my hands therefore jus makin it a step in. thanks again.
@Juelz1234567 I wouldn't want to rely on umpires "watching closely" 100% of the time. If it looks like a travel (regardless of it it is "just before") then it has a higher chance of being called.
That is step is for balance and same lift every time he make a shot attempt. It does not count as traveling. Watch how Ray Allen shoots and you will know.
Though try not traveling before every single shot and try shootin' from different spot, the times where you will gun a 3pointer on that spot in game situations are quite rare.
good job for posting retarded comments that just shows how self centered and stupid you are because of course he steps into his catch but still ends up traveling and yet he doesn't have a suitcase so thanks for your reply faggot and suck a dick because if you want to be a big asshole you need to work with your faggot ass friends to help "just trying to help" XD
Im not like a Coach K, but on your three, you should land on the same spot you jumped off. Dean Smith used to put a dime doen, shoot, and have to land on the dime. Nice stroke though
Shot is too slow ball in air feet in air what to be set and ready to go right up with the shot before the ball get to you. That extra second you take by sitting you feet is the difference between nba and d league.
I have a video of me shooting around now, but it really isnt what I would call my real game jumpshots except for the last 3 I did... I was thinking of doing it at the park since it's easier for me there, but nobody would hold the camera or pass the ball for me, so I just did my shots at home... I'll get another one for the park when I get a ball getter and a video taker lol
Reminds me of me when I do my shooting drills... almost like looking through a mirror... I dont take 2 steps tho... I'll try to get a video as soon as I get some batteries and get some1 to take the video for me... other than that... great job man, keep up the good work!

u should start stepping while u r about to catch the ball..but other than that GOOD
Ap31hoted 2 years ago
These ppl are calling a travel becuz you sometimes catch the ball, then step in (Yes, its true).
There are times though, its legit.
:25 = Good,
The next one after it = Not ok.

this guy is the left-handed ray allen

and that's not a travel at all, it's just the way you come down from your jumper. lots of great shooters do that

@Juelz1234567 TRAVEL... left foot on the ground with the ball in your hands. More than obvious, if you don't see it use the pause button.
PipoXV 8 months ago
@sweetbells i see what you mean, i make the same mistake. steve kerr and dorell are the best at stepping into their shots and faking.
