Hi! I hope you will respond once you get this message. I am from the PH too and I am planning to get this kind of camera. I love its ZOOM feature but I read reviews and there were two major points.
1.) The flash thing that pops out every time you turn on the cam.
2.) You can only shoot a total of 15 minutes of video because the battery goes FAST.
Please respond. Ok ba siya or should I look for something else? TY!!
1. Yes, the flash pops up every time you turn on the camera. You just have to get used to not placing your finger on that spot; otherwise, it stays shut if you hold it down. That might damage the flash motor in the long run, though.
2. Yes, the battery goes fast when you're shooting in HD. That's because: 1) the NB-5L battery has been in the market for over 5 years; and 2) video will always be a secondary purpose on digital cameras.
@A7WFG Despite those flaws, the SX230HS is an excellent camera that even rivals some DSLR cameras. Also, the NB-5L battery is reasonably priced (Php1,000 for an off-brand at most Canon stores), so it's best to have at least two extras. Yes, it's a considerably huge investment for a camera, but it pays off in spades and you'll be the envy of everyone.
Its a Good Camera,i have mine too! :-)

I love your camera and the way you shot everything - the voice, the background, etc.
