I dislike fancy goldfish, but I'm glad these guys are in a caring home. There's no doubt in my mind that these guys will live their full 25 year lifespan. How are they doing now?

I would love to see more aquascaping in the tank, possibly some rock, driftwood and anubias?

@FreeTheSticks Two of the fish in the tank passed away early last year. I believe it was due to stunting. The others are all doing well and getting HUGE.

I tried some aquascaping but the light fixture isn't good enough. So the only plants that survive in that tank are four gigantic amazon swords. Also, all of the driftwood I added became moldy.

@nhstitan18 That's weird, driftwood does rot, but very slowly. You could look into really hardy and low light plants such as anubias, java moss and java fern.

It's cool that goldfish get so large, feeders can get 16+ inches long!

I agree I have a pond and keep gold fish. And am getting a 37gal for some guppies neon tetras Molly ect fish like that with live plants. On the tank in the vid some Dark grey rocks would be nice or sand because fish poop and food gathers on the bottom and stone hide it. :)

Nice lighting, that's what caught my eye. Nice to see someone appreciate an old time favorite fish, rather than some more popular "Arowana" or obsessions with African or South/Central American cichlids.

I think a planted tank with cardinal, rummynose tetras, rainbowfish etc. looks 10x better than a neurotic tank filled with aggressive fish.

@Pvjinflight If you're just starting off, scour the kijiji or craigslist adds for aquariums that people no longer want. It's a hobby that comes and goes as people lose interest, or are moving and simply can't take it with them. You can usually get good deals. Just be sure to buy a tube of aquarium sealant, to avoid leaks. Also bear in mind, that 1 U.S. gallon of water weighs 8.3454 pounds. Then there's the aquarium/equipment weight. So be careful where you set up the aquarium ;)

@MrFishman113 no offense, but arowanas look like a big piece of shit compared to goldfish. Goldfish come in a multitude of beautiful patterns and colors. They're peaceful and can be housed with lots of different types of fish, they don't try to eat everything they can fit in their mouth, and they look adorable: While arowana can be housed with almost NOTHING, they can get to be too big (even for this tank) and they are way too expensive. But that's just my opinion. :)

BEAUTIFUL TANK!!!!!!!! I think that goldfish are perfict for a 180g. It is perfect just the way that it is. It is much easier to maintain a tank without gravel. Goldfish are HUGE wast producers. I would not change a single thing on your tank other that if you want get more filtration. You can never have enough with goldfish. Again BEAUTIFUL tank. Goodluck trying to grow plants in that tank, even though the best looking tank I have ever seen was a heavily planted goldfish tank.

brilliant, love it, my 1 fancies enjoy their 180g too. i dont see how anyone could say its a wasted tank, fancies can easily exceed 6-8inches, they are fast growing and messy, and very active so make use of all the room. i dont understand why people favour 1 type of fish over another when it comes to stocking.i have a 10inch oranda in my tank, he wouldnt be happy in a 'measuring cup' thats for sure! your tank looks great, and your fish look healthy so its all good :)
