When will this sad post-menopausal botoxed creature Lumley comprehend Britain should NOT act as a dump for every third world refugee charity case. These people are in fact paid a pension that gives them a good standard of living in their own country. These so called “celebrities” such as Lumley and Redgrave should stick to acting not prostitute themselves through the media to force their extreme unelected left wing views regarding third world parasites on the British taxpayer.

yet more immigrants!, i don't mind the idea of gurkhas living here because they earned it. but whats with letting so many more immigrants in the country when there are no jobs!, meaning more people too boost the unemployed rate. sorry but you know nothing your just another political correct tosser whos too high up from reality.
I don't have anything against immigrants, all my friends essentially migrated here. But like, the party is full don't let more people in for no other reason than we lack the space.
Good job on the Ghurkas... They fought with the British Army so they get to stay in Britain. But now lets extend this reasoning to cover the Iraqi interpreters, who have a lot more to lose if their asylum applications are turned down...
typical lying treacherous politicians all jumping on the band wagon !!!! myself and loads like me have been petioning 4 this for 2 years, facebook has done their bit in providing a platform to show peoples feelings on this matter...all of a sudden all the traitors in westminster have realised "the people aint happy"
lets see if we can appease them and get their vote..well piss off we see through you !!!! thanx to joanna lumley who also fought for this cause
Actually, Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats have also been fighting for this for years. It was David bloody Cameron who "junped on the bandwagon" at the last minute. The pictures of him outside Parliament celebrating with Joanna Lumley made me feel sick. Typical Tories just voted for it because they knew it had popularity, whereas the Lib Dems did it out of principle.
The Gurghas have always had a raw deal from us and I feel the above comment ie "they knew what they were gettin into",
Extremely rascist. The point is the Gurkas have aklways been respected and known to be great fighters, yet we wont let them live here, but we rely on their courage! We should be ashamed.ShellSadie
shame on us, we give certain immigrants everything, from houses to health care just for turning up at our door, but those that have served us in war zones etc we turn away. where is the justice in this
When a Gurkha signed up to serve in the British Army he knew the contract he was getting into. This did not include citizenship for him and his dependants in the UK. You all need to grow up a bit and stop being so wet and stupid.
u need to get your head out of ure ass and thank those that have helped to protect the society that allows u to make stupid fukkin comments on u tube !!!! PRICK
Ah! One of the semi-literate multitude speaks! I think you ought to research this issue a bit more closely before getting so worked up about it. If you knew the background you might calm down somewhat. Great Britain has always looked after the Gurkhas: all Gurkhas retire on a generous pension (a fortune in Nepal), all post 1997 Gurkhas are allowed to settle in the UK, all pre 1997 Gurkhas with awards for bravery are allowed to settle. We have already given them far more than was outlined in 1947
Funnily enough, I actually live in Hong Kong, in China, which is not a democracy. Amazingly I am still free to post messages on Youtube! Don't think I am not grateful to the Gurkhas for what they have done, I am entirely grateful to them, but they have their rewards and do not need citizenship. This was never part of the deal. The UK is currently on its knees and burdened with debt and the needy. The last thing it needs is any more immigration.
well said!, just ignore the uneducated illierate extremist. his just another of many english people with there head burried in the sand, too busy worried about keeping his political correct views in check.
are u british, cause u don't sound and act like a british. these people has fought and laid down lives for ur country .................................and money can buy everything for u but not for me........................so may be u and ur forefathers fought for salary or money but not the gurkhas
The Gurkha vote has flushed out the Gordon Brown cheerleaders. Here, in Holborn and St Pancras, Frank Dobson voted against a fair deal for the Gurkhas.
Only the Lib Dems stand up for fairness now. The Tories leapt on their bandwagon (just as they belatedly decided to follow the Lib Dems on ID cards, on Heathrow expansion etc etc)
Where are your ads? The Conservatives have started putting them up locally; it does my head in to seen 'VOTE FOR CHANGE' next to the Conservative logo. I'd much rather have a Lib Dem opposition.
Here is a question. How come the Conservatives appear to be taking credit for this when it was an issue championed by LibDems which the Conservatives joined?
In Prime Minister's Questions today, the Conservatives mentioned it and Nick Clegg was silent on this issue. What gives?
great work cleggy, i hope you will be leader of the opposition after the next general election. a quick question though, why isn't a motion that is debated in parliament and wins a majority not go straight to law?
It wasn't a vote on a law, just on a motion expressing a view, but it's disgraceful that the Government seem to be planning to ignore Parliament's decision. (Laws have to go through lots of stages of scrutiny, and through both the Commons and the Lords.)
thanks, on another note, since you are so knowledgable, why at the start of PMQ's does someone say something like 'no.1', then gordo says stuff like he's in meetins and stuff? always wondered that?
Questions to ministers are submitted in advance and printed on the day's order paper, so at question time, rather than reading out the whole question, the MP says the number of their question.
At PMQs, there is an odd tradition that everyone just asks what the PM's engagements are rather than give away their surprise questions in advance, so the PM always answers this as the first question, and the person who said "No. 1" then gets to follow it up with a proper question.

Please put more effort into campaigning for private use(Growing, Eating, Smoking) of Cannabis.
This is a basic human right.. It's a plant less harmful than tobacco and alcohol.
I don't like the government telling me what I can and can not put into my own body.
The government doesn't own me, It's about time they realized that.
dackjaniels555 2 years ago
It is official Lib Dem policy to legalise Cannabis.
What more can you do than have it as official policy?!
maxpert1 2 years ago 3
Yeah, legalizing cannabis means it can be produced more saftly and cleanly making it far safer.
