  • Just to add note for win 8 installation.

For part where you formatting your usb drive, choose this parametres : format fs=NTFS insted format fs=fat32 to get large files to your usb drive. Thats helps for windows 8 installation, because instal file of win 8 is around 4.2gb single file, which one cannot be written into fat32 format.

  • do the files have to be transferred through cmd or could i just simply drag em? please respond id appreciate it thanks..

    tnx^^

  • format fs=32

only brings up a list of commands

I am on xp. Trying to repair a 7 computer

  • its not unnecessary! if you are repairing a computer without being able to use windows explorer this is helpful! NO CD/DVD NO WORKING OS... EXCEPT UBUNTU THIS WAS THE TYPE OF HELP I NEEDED.

  • Thanx it was quite helpful!! and i did the same as you told!! worked 100% !! but dude my vista home basic is not activated!! can you please help me??

  • I've already tried different methods but this one is the simplest and effective method of all. Nice tutorial video. Worked for me. Thanks =]

  • you can also upload it online (if you have unlimmited gb) and then create a client (like 1 mb) and it will be a kind of CMD asking you if you want to download it and showing the results of the items it has received

  • Safe blud

  • How do i change back my boot up driver back to C drive?

  • where is the download file for the Windows 7?

  • @Sh00t3r357 there isnt one, you must provide your own

  • @nellisere then this is pointless, if you want to help people you should provide the link for the softwere. Thanx for the waste of my time!!!!!!!!

  • i have problem. when i type list disk it shows only my hard drive, but not mu usb drive.

  • you using windows xp?

  • dont worry. now i know, why this happen.

    thanks anyway.

  • @spikypete its vista

  • I have the windows 7 files already in my usb do i sitll have to do the command prompt steps or do just set up so i can install

  • .:PLEASE READ:. .:VERY IMPORTANT:.

Very good job with the video. However you may not want to do "select disk 1" no matter what. for thos with multiple hard drives or partitions disk 1 may not indicate the target flash drive. be sure that you do "list disk" and verify which disk your USB is to prevent cleaning the wrong volume. Please understand that im not bashing your video as it is very well done. Just dont want anybody mad because they formatted the wrong disk.

    Thanks,

    Chris

  • @cat41693 i alsmost did that...

  • use multi disk, u dnt nid mount or an mount the program

  • i think multi disk 10 is much easyier

  • @baul

try to mount 1st the iso

    then copy it

example i mount it from a f: drive which is my virtual drive

    then you have to type

    xcopy f: *.* /s/e/f e:

e = is your usb just assuming

  • that's xcopy....:D sorry

  • when i tipe xpocy c:\Windows7\*.* /s/e/f e:\ .....is says invalid drive specification because my usb drive is f: not e: ive tride to change it but does not work what to do? thx

  • close the programthen try again

  • you can also do it from an external by putting it in the main directory and clicking setup

    and that works...for windows 7

  • hello i have i problem booting from my USB... when i go into the bios>boot options, the USB HDD shows up as

"-USB HDD"... and i set that as first but my computer continues to boot normally.. am i doing something wrong or missed a step?

  • Mine keep getting stuck at a black screen after i tried to boot from usb thumbdrive

  • i type in list disk and it only shows disk 0!!!helppp

  • it says invalid number of paraimeters when it type xcopy c:\windowsv ... what do do?:(

  • Do this. Rename folder to Windows7. Just like he did. Idk why but it actually works. The folder name is Windows7. Doesn't make a difference. Then it should work. Reply if it did. Cya! Hope this helps ya! :D

  • It did thanx man youre the best

  • Your more then welcome. Anything to help you. And thanks for subbin!

  • hey how to i make another partition to install windows 7, i am running xp.???

  • first, install vista, then when vista is installed do this windows 7.. not that hard... :/

  • @drsmith100

XP no ve a las memorias usb como discos fijos por eso diskpart no las va a enlistar nunca, solamente se puede en vista y win 7

  • thx dude, nice and easy tutorial, 5/5 stars, i am now going to try to install Tiny Vista onto my netbook, i subbed too =D

  • wow!!! nice thats what i searching for.....

  • Easier way: Just use the Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool (Google it).

  • Thankx dude tis rocks have installed a lite version of w7 to 2 netbooks everything fine!!

  • all this kinda unesesery, cause vista and 7 can be installed from image, so you can install all from .iso and dont use any external drive for that... (and your time, cause from image its fastest way)

  • Actually that is untrue. A .ISO file is not executable, you will have to mount the image somewhere in order to run the executable setup files. The only options are DVD or 4gb+ USB flash drive. You may even be able to mount it in a virtual disk and install in the OS, not sure though, haven't tested it.

  • well i was mean virtual DVDROM, vell it install by mounting just fine in running for example xp, cause vista / 7 at setup beginning copys all needable setup files to hard drive, and after restart, it no needs the image files no more, i can continuing installation itself alone.

  • @wiseadam You could just download Dameon Tools to mount and not have to use a usb or dvd r.

  • @Ultralman2

Dameon tools will only mount the ISO so you can then access the files from windows explorer. You can use this if you have no other way to access the .ISO. WinRAR or even 7Zip allow you to use them for a long trial period or free, all you need is to right click and extract. The learning curve of using Dameon tools is too extensive for this write-up. Installing, rebooting, learning how to mount the ISO then continuing may be a little off track.

  • @wiseadam well what ever..i had a problem...and this vid helped me....thanks wise man!! :D

  • @wiseadam The only way you can install it from .iso is if you have a networked computer and mount it and share the drive. And then boot over LAN on the computer that needs to be formatted using PXE server and some sort of PE (pre-installation environment) and then map the shared drive using "net use" in cmd. But for what its worth, its like 50 times more troublesome since you have to mess with drivers and boot loaders and networking.

  • I know this may sound stupid but when I download w7 will i lose all my files(music movies etc.) thx

  • were u running xp before installing 7 ?'

it will be a clean install if u are installing it on xp ):

  • you can create another partition on your hard drive and install W7 onto it if you have enough space. That way you can have Windows XP (or whatever you're using) and W7 on the same computer and your files will not be erased.

  • does any one know if this is possible with a memory stick pro dou

  • only with a USB card reader

  • I have the file on my usb, but for some reason when I try to boot it after restart my comp says there's no bootable files in my usb? Appreciate the help

  • WOW how did you remeber all the things to type in command prommt

but i'm kind of scared =s

  • @MicrosoftBratz1234 he probably had them on a piece of paper infront of him

  • Comment removed

  • it wont let me clean disk and when i put in list disk all i get ### but doesn't say the disk and if there is free space. I HAVE DISK PART VERSION 5.1.3565. CAN ANYONE HELP ME? JUST WRITE ME BACK IF U KNOW WHAT TO DO

  • hey bro i cant install it says i dont have space or something help

  • very Ty Ty Ty

    i gave u kiss ^.^ :P

    C Y A

  • And... I can install from Ipod 4GB??

    Is the same??

    Please reply wiseadam

  • Thanks a lot this trick just saved my life :D

  • Wiseadam what happen with the usb drive after the installation? I mean, Can I uset it normally or I have to change something? Because I have a 16Gb usb Drive, and I don´t want to loose it

    thanks.

  • Im sorry, but it will be completely destroyed in the process. Your computer will leech the materials used for the USB-stick via the USB-port. There's simply nothing left. There's an upside though. Highly heat-resilient components won't smoke and the polycarbon-plastics used on laptops and desktop computer cases won't even seem warm to touch.

  • Well that's not nice! The real answer HITTER10 is that once you are done installing the OS from the usb drive you can format it and reuse it like normal, but you will have to go through this process again if you ever want to reinstall from a usb.

  • This video looks great. I believe this is the "real deal.". (Aspecially since you did it yourself).

Befor I do this, would a 4GB flashdrive ok, as well as upgrading from Vista Basic?

  • A 4gb will work as long as the install .iso image or DVD disc is under 4gb's. I do not recommend upgrading from any OS, I always prefer a clean install. If problems are present on the Vista install they may carry over to the new Windows 7 upgrade.

  • Hay nice background .. lol .

  • ah its alright! i settled it! its just that i should change the booting device from the bios not from startup option but weird i don find any difference xD btw thnx for the tutorial, been searching for it from google but was clueless ;)

  • hey, mind to help me here?

Is it just me or its impossible to boot windows 7 RTM atm. I still havent try other OS. Ive followed few steps of wat u did, not all.

I quick format my external hdd and set it as exFAT as theres only 2 options for me t choose which are NFTS and exFAT, then I do the xcopy thing and i tried to boot it from the boot option "USB-HDD" , not from the BIOS, in the end it nothing happens.

  • whenever i type in format fs=fat32 it just pops something else up it doesn't count up to 100% wat do i do?

  • There is another way to format I have found, it's a whole lot faster too. After you type Active , go into my computer and find your usb drive letter and double-click and it will ask you to format the drive, make sure you choose quick format and then check the drive letter, and you can then skip the format and assign and go straight to the exit, then the xcopy

  • in diskpart there is also quick format ... "format fs=fat32 quick" for more help type "help format" or just "help" but with windows is easier for normal people :)

  • Thank You, I will make a new one and add voice and/or music and put that in there, it takes way too long to format otherwise.

  • some music or something maybe any type of sound?

  • Yea I know, it's my first video, just testing it out. I'll one day put more up. Sorry, maybe next time I'll put it to a melody of windows sounds...I need to get a girl to talk to my video's....aaah good idea

  • Will this work on my 1GB flash drive

  • No. The size of the install files are around 3 to 4 gigabytes.

  • wise adam i need your gudience..my window 7 rc shutdown on me and now it take 20 min to load but it go to system reapir and it cant fix the problem and i did the diagnostic check and it say no OS disk found ..i didnt make no back up disk either any command prompt

  • I cannot help you in this matter. Windows 7 is still in beta form and to make it bootable again may be difficult. You may be able to boot back to the USB and run a repair on the OS to see if this helps. I'm sorry, good news is that the retail version will be out soon. Good luck

  • Thanx for applying back..But i got the problem fix..i just burn another w7 os and put it in the comp and turn it back on and it let me reinstall all new again..hope if anyone have this problem you let them know

  • Can you install the OS on a Mac as well? If so how? I have a XP PC that I can make it on but I want to install on my Mac not XP.

  • You should be able to install this on a Mac as well, I believe leopard came with a program called boot camp that will allow you to dual boot Windows and Mac OSX

  • In the end do you have only one single ISO image on the USB? Thanks in advance!

  • No. An ISO is a image file of what was on a disk, in the video I extract the files from the ISO onto the hard drive to then copy over to the USB. In the end you will have multiple files, the same way it would look on a CD/DVD disk

and whats the difference between both methods any one can help ?

  • can any1 answer this question for me too ? ;)

  • What kind of flash drive is it?

  • my usb memory doesnt show up in list disk! help please

  • i have flash drive on disk 2

    when i type

    select partition 2

it doesnt shows up wth is this just a waste of time?

  • select partition 1

    I have disk 7

    type "partition 1"

  • lol i have already installed it 7 days ago xD

  • anyhow thanks..

  • it doesn't works and it corrupted my flash drive and now tell me how to fix flash drive it doesnt formats and shows 0 capacity :(((

  • PLEASE make sure you do not format a drive that is not your USB. If you do not show a USB drive in list disk then you may be using a older version of Windows XP. Make sure you are using Vista or XP Sp3

  • already installed it through flash drive..

    anyway thanks for help..

  • when i gave command to list disk it doesn't show flash drive... it only shows 2 hard drives 73 GB and 233 Gb

    plz help :(

  • Thank you sooo much man that was very helpful now i will install windows 7 ultimate through usb i have kingston 4 gb flash drive... thanksss!!!!

  • very good tutorial!!!!!

  • why did you had to show us the unzipping process?

  • The reason I showed the unzipping process is because WinRAR is capable of unzipping an .iso Windows itself cannot unzip an .iso

  • rolf we're not that noob. k thanks for uploading though

  • nice pic as your background homie haha

  • when i try the create partition primary it doesnt work it says : there is insufficient free space to create a partion at the specified size and offset.

specify different size and offset... i have done every step and i have a 16gb data traveler 100

  • Hey little smart glass. I liked your video but how do you install from USB to A partitioned hard drive?...like i partitioned my D drive and took 40Gb...i want to install it as a muti-boot in that drive...how?

  • liked the vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!

btw wanna ask is it working on xp or vista 32bit?

  • whats network location? is that like a virtual hard drive(partition) if so how do i get it.

  • When you see "network location", where are you seeing that option? In the BIOS as a boot option, or where?

  • no in computer you know the orb then computer and then where the last part is it said network location(in you computer not mine, it has nothing to do with the video just want to know how to do it)

  • The only thing I can think you mean is in the start button, you want the "network" option to show in your start menu. Correct?

  • no just look at 1:37 (in the video) where you open computer and the last group it says network connection (3), how do you get connections?

  • how come my usb is not lised as a disk??

  • If you are booting your computer with the USB drive in the computer, and in the BIOS do not see it listed either as a specific boot device when choosing boot order, or in the list of hard disk boot order, your motherboard may not be capable of booting to a usb flash drive. What is your motherboard brand and model #?

  • BIOS recognizes the usv perfectly fine and I know how to change the boot order. The command prompt does not list the Usb as a disk. It only shows my HDD.

The command prompt does see the drive's volume though.

Also, do you think the boot would work if a formatted (FAT32) the usb under its properties then extracted the iso directly to the usb??
