The difference between weather and climate is a measure of time. Weather is what conditions of the atmosphere are over a short period of time, and climate is how the atmosphere "behaves" over relatively long periods of time. The first and most important thing to do is understand that there's an actual problem that needs to be dealt with. Basically the entire world, with the exception of conservatives in the USA, has crossed that bridge already, but the USA is important, and our lack of leadership is a major hindrence to addressing this global problem.
Complaining that dealing with GW might feel burdensome is like complaining that quitting smoking might feel burdensome, and so one should be able to smoke without any health consequences. Reality doesn't give a damn about what you want. We're causing global warming, and it's going to create serious problems that WILL be addressed - sooner or later. By playing ostrich and waiting until later instead of starting now, dealing with it will become more costly and its consequences more severe.

The first and most important thing to do is understand that there's an actual problem that needs to be dealt with. Basically the entire world, with the exception of conservatives in the USA, has crossed that bridge already, but the USA is important, and our lack of leadership is a major hindrence to addressing this global problem.

The biggest fear in this whole thing isn't that the planet will burn to a cinder but that warm air in the arctic is forcing out the colder climes it is built upon, causing the ice caps to melt. That, of course, leads to rising water levels which could eventually lead to flooding.

The kind of change we're seeing now is unprecedented as it's happening at a faster rate and coincides with an increase in CO2 and other gasses in the atmosphere.
