Yes, a lot of the simulation field uses technology already used in the gaming industry. ExpeditionDI looks like Counter Strike. SECORE2 is an engine the army is developing, promising that existing and future hardware will be plug and play. America's Army has a purpose beyond recruitment as well, some units use it to build communication skills. The difference between gaming and simulation is there is more money in simulation.

@Topulis91 This isn't a game, its a real virtual reality simulator being developed by the united states army. Part of that simulator is the soldier's actual m16 with attachments simulating the feel of an actual trigger pull. The soldier puts on a helmet and these glasses and that is the screen. To move in the simulator you have to actually walk on a specialized floor. This stuff is being worked on it is in development.

The schedule has been removed because of all the protests. A pretty good indicator of how well this thing is being run is all of the links all over the Army site and google still directing you to that page where the schedule used to be. Don't waste your time trying to track it down. It sucks, anyway. Not worth standing in line to be deceived about military life with a half ass video game that doesn't even always work.

Shoot guns 2% of the year... sweep out hangars, buff and mop floors, clean latrines, and do trivial tasks for 65% of the year. The remaining % will be spent doing training and job related items with weapons not being involved.

You best go special forces if you want to shoot guns a lot more. (Do NOT...I repeat DO NOT become an company armorer as it is a shit job.)
