Yes, a lot of the simulation field uses technology already used in the gaming industry. ExpeditionDI looks like Counter Strike. SECORE2 is an engine the army is developing, promising that existing and future hardware will be plug and play. America's Army has a purpose beyond recruitment as well, some units use it to build communication skills. The difference between gaming and simulation is there is more money in simulation.
I whould love to see them in the real thing, only diffrence is they whould probably be runing in circles saying were gona die were gona die..i just want to go back to my lazy boy sofa and play my games in my pretend world ware i am something, LOL.
bad choice, I doubt that with the mouse can feel the weight of the rifle, I doubt that sitting in front of a PC feel the sweat of your body with the heat of the desert, and I doubt you feel the weight of the helmet when you run your balance and wobble body.
These factors may never play games on a simulated.
@Topulis91 they have real guns mounted with sensors on them dipshit just please mind your own buisness this is for people that are thinking and or all ready decided to join the army so please do everyone a favor and think about your own life
@Topulis91 This isn't a game, its a real virtual reality simulator being developed by the united states army. Part of that simulator is the soldier's actual m16 with attachments simulating the feel of an actual trigger pull. The soldier puts on a helmet and these glasses and that is the screen. To move in the simulator you have to actually walk on a specialized floor. This stuff is being worked on it is in development.
ill be damned when one day in the future they make a simulator where they put a head set on you and put you in some kind of pod, and so realistic that it will give people nightmares and ptsd even though its just a simulation
I was about to cry when they said I couldn't play. I went to an airshow JUST FOR THAT simulator. I was 10 years old, and they're like. Sorry, you're under 13, you can't play.
I think it's great Americans can experience a taste of what the real military is like. Such as: The value of cover and teamwork, listening and understanding your orders, and finally executing them.
for me as an airsofter (also a marine on vacation) its pretty tempting because i havent played video games in a while. i just go there and play and just go away
Help educate young people about the misleading marketing, advertising and recruiting strategies of the U.S. military, including but not limited to the Virtual Army Experience, by joining and supporting the website that is the same as our user name. We demand that the U.S. military stop using video games, motorsports sponsorships, college and pro athletics sponsorships and deceptive associations with youth groups like the Boy Scouts of America- all of which have NOTHING to do with the military.
Yesterday I called and asked if I could try out the simulators. They said yes. I called first because I was driving from 2 hours away. When I got there the simulators were not working. It cost the tax payers 12 million dollars and it doesn't work. I'm going to BCT and I wanted to try out the AEC before I go. But I'm never going back there again because when I asked questions they were rude to me. I signed up and took an oath to defend this country but they treated me like I was Osama Bin Laden.
The schedule has been removed because of all the protests. A pretty good indicator of how well this thing is being run is all of the links all over the Army site and google still directing you to that page where the schedule used to be. Don't waste your time trying to track it down. It sucks, anyway. Not worth standing in line to be deceived about military life with a half ass video game that doesn't even always work.
just another one of the capitalist proletariat's bullshit propoganda trying to brainwash kids and teens with the idea that they can change the world by killing a few terrorists. they need to instill hatred and racism and fun in their propoganda to get them to join.
Shoot guns 2% of the year... sweep out hangars, buff and mop floors, clean latrines, and do trivial tasks for 65% of the year. The remaining % will be spent doing training and job related items with weapons not being involved.
You best go special forces if you want to shoot guns a lot more. (Do NOT...I repeat DO NOT become an company armorer as it is a shit job.)
Just another propaganda tool to glorify war. Neglects the darker side.. Must register with the Military (share personal information) for recruitment purposes to play....Do we insure peace through war ?
america's army is basically the same thing...it is based off americas army. =P i used to play it. it was fun and about the same so if you don't want to wait for the line get america's army...
