  • no suits?

  • I wish there was a way to prevent or condemn spreading. Although this is far from an example of spreading.

  • Spreading just shows that you have a future in the auctioneer business more than anything else. Its a shame to see anyone spread in LD since it goes against the actual meaning for the original Lincoln-Douglas debates. L & D debated values like slavery etc just like debaters do today, but I doubt they talked that fast simply because no one else could understand them. Sure spreading makes you feel smart, but it also makes the average joe think your social retard on speed.

  • @bradshawoklahoma Don't look down on spreaders now. Spreading helps Affirmatives bridge the gap of time between the Negative's 7 minute Constructive/1s Rebuttal to the Affirmatives 1st Rebuttal which is four minutes. Otherwise, LD would be like Public forum which has no time to cover everything well. Sonce the Advent of Negatives running 3 offs, in order to get a technical win as they are A-Prioris, has appeared spreading combats it. As long as the judge and opponent is fine with it, go for it.

  • Wow. Everything I thought I knew about debate was just crushed. I'm a senior in high school and I compete in Lincoln Douglas debate and I was all psyched when I saw this video and I was like, "OH SWEET, PHILOSOPHY" but it sounds more like policy than anything. Odd. xD

  • Wow, so i continued reading the comments and realized how many people are calling this "fast" and not debate ?! I'm a senior in highschool and this is debating at a snail's pace.... like i said to scott, you guys must be debating on the oklahoma circuit or something.... come to a tfa dallas area tournament. Whats the issue with speed in an enviornment where both debaters and the judge can understand it ? it maximizes the information that can be presented, the same goes for a progressive case

  • The resolution sounds like policy, the debaters sound like policy. . .How is this LD??

  • @imatreyu cuz the standard of the round will always b linked to some kind of philosophy

  • he talks too fast... whats the resolution?

  • @scott33195 This is slow for mainstream ld..... ? do you debate in oklahoma bahaha ? maybe its cuz im from the dallas circuit... lol

  • Thank you for saying "nuclear" and not "nucular" -.-

  • This whole fucking thing is bullshit. This isnt what i would call debate, this is a bunch of fucking retards talking soo fast it looks like theyre having epileptic seizures. this just made me lose my interest in the whole LD debate. garbage.

  • @Hardwood9192 LOL thats not even spreading

  • @Hardwood9192 ur so fuckin stupid, jus cuz ur retarded and cant understand people who can speak and think fast in no way means everyone else is the same way u fuckin dumbassmotherfucker

  • Am I the only person who's not picking up a framework? Or is this just how LD in college is run?

  • ld in college uses policy resolutions. high school moves towards value like old ceda debate. the speed has increased from an increase in policy oriented judges, think of ld as a slow version of ndt/ceda

  • ok, now what the fuck did you say?

  • This barely even qualifies as LD... LD isn't even supposed to have spreading. this is basically policy debate

  • its Policy debate. You can tell by the resolution.

  • LD has plenty of spreading what are you talking about? NFL kids including myself spread plenty

  • plus they're not even spreading and if they're actually trying to they're slow as crap

  • @BeforEvilsDemise no im an ld person and you can't spread ld isn't like cx you don't have enough time

  • @rayfan222 lol i'm telling you i used to spread ALL the time especially once you hit TOC levels its expected. only people i know who absolutely don't are UIL kids

  • Aff has some weak weak spread. I've seen faster in JV LD at the Princeton Invitational. Neg is better, but still not that fast. See Jake Nebel or Chris Theis for some fairly good spread.

  • several of my high schools debaters had the opptunity to debate Frank Murdoch in high school when he competed for Delta (CO) let me guess who won this one?

  • That's not fast.

  • well, spread is not allowed in the event and since this was taped they were probably asked to go slower... just saying, tek

  • spreading is definitely allowed in LD debate - just not public forum.

  • thats some weakkkk spread

  • I love that idea

  • Why not speak slower and be given more time,

  • They speak fast to get in as much as possible. If you add more time, they won't speak slower, they'll add more to their case.
