I'd go with Unreal Engine 3. Unreal is one of the games that actually made it into the history (the other being QUAKE, DooM and Half Life). Unreal Engine 3 also comes with UDK, which is a free tool for anyone to use and create outstanding visuals for free using the leading technology.

i recently bought an xbox360 for $400, bought a few games played it for like 2 weeks and then sold it and all my games on ebay.

Because the output graphics are HD resolution. You just failed for trying to compare DVD Movies with Games pressed on DVD Discs.

The reason movies are on blu-ray/hd-dvd discs is simply because they support increased file size, so they can put more quality on it.

You can also put a HD movie on a dvd, problem is that it'll be limited to 20 minutes or so.

I think the increased bit density gives you a little higher bit rate, but any mathematician can tell you that the storage capacity ratio between two discs increases with the square of the bit density, whereas read rate only increases linearly.

So, you're entirely right. Blu-Ray is much more bigger than it is faster, but it's certainly faster too.

on the contrary, its already been implemented on the 360, works fine except it need's a update for the UI interface. but the ps3 has had problems because of it's formatted blu-ray hd drive which seems to be giving the cryengine some tear and graphical issues.

the console version of the engine may have to be dumbed down due to the weaker gpus in the consoles. so the engine is prolly more scalable than the cryengine 2

The only impressive thing it has is nice looking forests.

The real name of the engine should go along the lines of "CryEngine Console edition" or something.

Although, Unless Crytek make improvements over performance AND graphics, their new engine won't be ready until the next real line of graphics cards (rather than the recently released overclocked versions ie GTX295)

ps3 gpu is fine and the cell processor takes the brunt of the processing for physics ect and ps3 is 10x the power of a reg comp and game comps are only like 5x the power of a reg comp

game comps are FAR more powerful than the ps3. the cell (just like every other cpu) is supposed to do the brunt of the processing since ITS A PROCESSOR. the rsx is a gpu and its main job just like every other gpu is to process the graphix to put it on screen. the rsx is one of the main things thats bottlenecking the ps3. the rsx is based off of the nvidia 7800 or 7900 which is at least 3 generations behind in graphics tech.

KZ2 had to be checked and rechecked to make sure that lag wasnt going to happen not to mention they had to get rid of every thing that would make it lag. and it cant be compared to crysis because KZ2 was a linear game and crysis was sandbox style and linear games are easier to do.

The rsx does really need to get updated...to about an 8600 or at least an 8400 for the ps3, 360 im fine with, but the 7800 which is in the ps3 is REALLY holding it back. own both systems, and an xps m1530 custom, 10gigs of ram, 600mgb of hd space, 3 nvidia 8600gtx cards and i forgot the audio system i bought for it but w/e.

they cant update it now. its too late. if they were to do that then ps3 owners would be pissed. they would have to had done that back during the design phase. doing that now would be financial suicide to sony... Ive had the relatively same hardware in my pc for two years now (One GPU upgrade, that was it.) i bought a new monitor at christmas which is a BenQ E2200HD, it cost £120 and i can game at the same resolutions you console gamers would have to shell out thousands on a TV alone for. And all the BEST games are on the PC, on the 360 and PS3 all the game are full of pre pubescent retards with the intelligence of an amoeba.

i wasn't talking about multiplayer first person shooters, there are other games in the world that don't have a multiplayer aspect, things like metal gear solid 4, uncharted, fable II and games like that... games that aren't just about a competition, they are an experience.

how much did your system cost, i am pretty sure u could get a ps3 and a fullhd tv for the total cost of your system.

please list those best games of yours, to each is his own but i feel like my fellow gamer is missing out.

MGS4 does have multiplayer so you slipped up on that one. But my whole system cost about £800 all in. Full HD is only when an image is 1080p not 720p+ then upscaled which alot of TV's do, alot of 1080p standard TV's are £1000+. The whole Half Life series, is better on the PC, there's the vast amount of mods catering for all kinds of tastes and of course, theres the racing games, which simply cannot be matched on consoles. Gt Legends, the GTR series, RACE (the proper one.), LFS and rFactor.

Also about mgs4, i should say that the single player game totally eclipses the online component.

I concur that the modding community is really great on pc, and for shooters the keyboard and mouse cannot be beaten.

Also you can use the same benq screen for gaming via a ps3 aswell, all you need is an adapter.

I actually don't need an adapter, it has a HDMI port :>. But MGO really can't be considered a seperate part of the MGS series. I could say the same for you console guys when it comes to shooters. But driving games, PC cannot be beaten, you ever raced in a full grid of Le Mans on a proper simulator, using a G25? That is something that you just don't get on consoles.

yes shooters are in a similar state on consoles, but most of that games on pc are shooters, on consoles there is a much larger variety of genres that actually contain titles that one would want to play.

I am pretty sure i can use a g25 on granturismo 5(i know it isn't out yet, its a proper simulator though isn't it?) on lemans with a full grid, and i can do it splitscreen aswell, but not with a full grid though.

Fair play, you can use a G25 on prologue, but prologue still isn't all that realistic physics wise contrary to popular belief and it also has a limit of 16 cars a full le man grid is over 60 :D
