  • Still waiting for Capcom to top the SFII series' stages and music.

  • No parallax scrolling at all.

  • @DanielFSMedeiros Look closer. It's in there.

  • Playing this destroyed your hands though. The 3do was notorious for its stiff and poorly made dpads, and you felt it with this game.

Also keep in mind that this predated the playstation launch by two years, and and for people still playing the SNES and Genesis, this was a huge leap forwards. People who paid 799 were early console adopters to the 3-d era.

  • @jowrab Saturn had pretty decent support actually, and so did the N64. Sega and Nintendo had more contacts than Sony at the time.

  • Comment removed

  • @jowrab actually the saturn had did have 3rd party suport by most developers, but they all transfered to sony towords the end of saturns life cicle,it had nothing to do with sony's money.capcom and snk leaned more towords the saturn then they did the playstaion, because the saturn had the ram to suport perfect ports of their games.

  • @jowrab Average? For its day it was much better than the competition that's for sure, only the loading times were a pain compared to cartridge based machines. Trip Hawkins bought out something special and could have nailed Nintendo but well it didn't happen and Standard Oil of New York (SONY) did instead.

  • I paid around $1500 for one of the very first Panasonic 3DO systems imported by MD Consoles in Dudley. The only problem was that when I got it I found out I had no TV to run it on as it needed to be sync'd unlike other NTSC machines before it. So I bought a Philips Matchline TV costing me $2500. Oh I also had to buy a quality step up transformer as I'm from the sovereign state of England and that cost me around 100$. The machine was good!

  • @anunnaki2006

...but was it four thousand dollars good?

  • @anunnaki2006 I was happy with it at the time as I had a great featured TV that had picture in picture, photographing, pausing and all sorts along with the most powerful machine at the time when NO one could get hold of them as only my friend had managed to pulled a deal off with Electronic Arts in the U.S. to get hold of Panasonic 3DOs real early. I loved to have everything first and have everyone in awe at my wares at the time haha. Changed a lot since but yeah it was fun :)

  • @anunnaki2006 You would have been better off using that money on a slot machine. The 3D0 was a money burning machine. That's top end PC money you wasted on a white elephant. Only 2 years later it was already technologically obsolete.

  • how much did you pay for your 3do

  • one of the best SFII arranged soundtracks

  • Expensive console but cool Sound!

  • He's put his name as POO, look. lol

  • I like dee jay's face. He looks like biff tannen in back to the future.

  • That is Hyper Street Fighter 2 Anniversary Edition for either PS2 or Xbox. Not SF2T for 3DO

  • @MrLicky106 You are wrong. This is direct from my 3DO. The PS2 and Xbox shared the same soundtrack which is probably where the confusion is coming from.

  • @Gamereviewgod: He's right. I have it also and this is the 3D0 version.

  • @MrLicky106 you are wrong.

  • it was to expensive barely had any game's i like the game's though i didnt have good advertisement i dont remember seeing anything advertisement till 95. 2yrs after the release it was ahead of it's time i remember going to play it and my friends didnt know what it was i would play playstation and 3do i liked the 3do better but no games would come out.

  • @emailme23 you are right it was to expensive but there were loads of great games out for the console - i had a good run with this machine inbetween the snes and ps1 ,, never did i think once that i had expired its playlist - decent games were always coming out (NOT in droves admittidly) but on my budget it was great,, 6 player fifa was the ultimate!!!

  • @jonnythecroww alot of the game's were big portion of the game were puzzle and sport game's they released 238 game's super nes 1,568 ps1 2,418 ps1 was out 5yrs before ps2 came out 3d0 had at least 4yr life span it was 700$ when i first got it it was finally slashed down to 500$ later but by then it was to late face fact there marketing wasn't that great didn't have alot of games didn't have good variety and certain place's stop selling there game's b4 it even died it was horrible

  • This game looks amazing and sounds great on this console. It's a ashame it's other titles were absolute shit. No wonder no one wanted to pay 700 dollars for it. I mean who can take titles like Plumbers don't wear ties and Vampires in my house seriously?

  • @KayoteThunder

Actually, there were quite a few pretty good games on 3DO. Star Control II, Space Hulk, Star Fighter, Alone in the Dark, Samurai Shodown, Need for Speed, Road Rash, etc. The thing is, it doesn't matter how many good games are on a video game console if that console is horribly overpriced. There's only a certain amount of money that most gamers, even the uber core early adopters, are willing to spend on a console. Look at PS3: launch $599 price messed Sony up for a bit there.

  • @spiffyvictory The other problem was many of the titles you mentioned were on other consoles for cheaper prices. I think if the 3DO were cheaper and had more support it would have still lost to sony's playstation though due to simple popularity.

  • I remember this game being a lot harder...the music is great though :D

  • I once played this and never went back to playing the SNES it was either 3DO or Arcade.

  • This version's graphics and speed were shocking at the time. You felt like you were king of the world if you were lucky enough to have a 3DO.

  • those gamespot magazines would really make you want and dream about owning a 3do cause of the superior graphics and sound compared to the snes and sega vers.. also this would be the closest a game would get to teh arcade

  • Sound Quality is 10x better than the Playstation 2 version.

  • @EricSchwin22 Agreed, because Sony are notoriously lazy when it comes to port forwarding. The PS2 could (and should) have had arcade perfect versions of this, Ghouls And Ghosts, Strider etc etc etc in their 'arcade collections' games but they couldn't be bothered. Microsoft are just as guilty. Same rules apply:(

  • @00woolley More Capcoms fault since they outsourced those collection games. PS2 and Xbox had more than capable hardware for an arcade perfect port..

  • @JuicyPlayer Capcom merely permitted (for a fee) Microsoft and Sony to use said games, It's up to MS and Sony to use their hardware to bring those titles alive, which they never did, same goes for Taito collection which came out on both consoles.

  • @00woolley MS , Sony and Nintendo have nothing to do with how 3rd party developers make games on their console. Their only role in the process is to make sure the games are bug free and that they follow the content standards that they have present in their respective systems. If that were the case multiplatform PS3 and 360 games would be the same performance wise.

  • @JuicyPlayer I'll concede this argument as you are right about 3rd party developers and I'm in the wrong:( But I must ask you a question - who's to blame for a poor conversion... I'm confused... I always thought that it was up to the console eg XBOX, PS2 etc??????? Although Ghosts And Goblins, Ghouls And Ghosts and Super Ghouls And Ghosts were sick on the PS2:) Hit me back...

  • @00woolley Its the fault of the developer if the conversion process is bad , most classic games can be run on current consoles with no problem. Although back in the day Arcade machines were usually more powerful than the console so developers had no choice but to downsize the game.

  • @EricSchwin22

Are you kidding me? It sounds muffled as hell. I don't really know about the PS2 version since it wasn't released in Europe.

  • i remember going to the local video game store all the time just to play the 3DO because it was so damn expensive nobody I knew had it.

  • My 3DO Cost Me £300 in The Early 90s,The games were way ahead of there time, shame they flopped, that was probebly because possibly sony had paid the games companies to make games for the ps1 instead, and they all jumped ship..

  • The damn thing had 1 controller port, no matter which hardware version you bought, you had to connect the second controller to the first controller, as if it were handcuffed to one another. My brother bought this and ruined life for me as my Dad didn't get me a Playstation because he said we had the 3DO, and by then my brother stopped playing video games all together. I had to wait a long time before I finally got my N64.

  • @krazygreen

True, it would've been nice to have two controller ports on the console itself, but then again the daisy chaining that they used made it so you didn't have to by a multi controller box for 4-8 player games. FIFA Soccer with up to 6 players was friggin' godly on this thing. Shame that there wasn't a Bomberman released on it like Saturn though, cause Saturn Bomberman's 6 player mode made it the best of the bunch.

  • @spiffyvictory You're right, it did make the use of a multi controller port obscelete. Also, I loved that it gave you that true arcade experience. All of the Street Fighter up to that point were good, but weren't up to par with the arcade version in terms of fluidity of the graphics, frame rate, and imo what the 3do did best, the sound. It sounded great on regular TV's, but it was even better if you had a surround sound system connected.

  • I remember wanting a 3Do solely for this game!

  • This is practically arcade quality!

  • there's no denying the sucsess of the ps1 but I always prefered the 3DO I picked one up as the price was on the decline only to find the games for it were on the way out, I managed to hunt out some of the great games for it including this one and was so happy with it until I was burgled and lost it, I later replaced with a playstation and got some of the same games back but in comparrison they were blocky and jerky, nfs and road rash on 3DO for example pwned!!!

  • That sound quality is amazing for it's time! So crisp, so clear. I'd love to see how other games sounded.

  • haha POO

  • wow that really is a true arcade port

  • @itwa5me only problem is that you were missing strong punch and foward kick on the 3do's default pad...

  • @itwa5me yea, i was so jealous of the 3do back in those days.

  • Wow the audio quality is amazing! Why did the 3DO flop so badly when its capabilities were so good?

The CPU wasn't very fast, but the graphics and audio were great and the OS was apparently pretty decent. Shame really, maybe it was just too expensive.

  • @batlin Purely on price. $700 for a console, even today, is well beyond what the market will bear. By the time the price came down to reasonable levels, the PlayStation had better capabilities and games.

  • @Gamereviewgod Yep, that is a lot of money. The PS3 was very expensive when it arrived, but it had the benefit of building on the fame of the PSX and PS2 (and more gamers with more money nowadays, perhaps).

  • @batlin It's just recorded music. The 3DO is CD-based hardware. The voices and sound fx are not so great actually, so I'm not real sure what you mean in terms of capabilities.

  • @neoalec Really? I had figured it played tracked music as well, similar to the PSF/PSF2 for PSX and PS2, and similar module formats on the N64, Dreamcast etc. Either way there has to be some audio mixing capability to get sfx and voices on top of the streamed soundtrack.

Maybe its 36 DMA channels allowed this?

  • @neoalec I agree PS1 and arcade versions are way better than this.

  • @Luigi84289

Dude the 3do was on the same level as PSOne (PS1). Graphics, audio were on the same level as a Playtstation One.

The main reason was the fact that it cost too much to buy one and some the games were lame.. But it still had some good games, even tho it wasn't many.. It was a great system in theory, but they market it wrong and design badly.

  • @WarshipAngelus Yeah I'm not gonna argue that the hardware wasn't superior the 16 bit consoles that would be ridiculous but the way it was utilized for this game is not very impressive.

  • @batlin 3DO failed for many reasons. The price is one of the main problems it had. The only reason why I owned one back in the day was the fact that I found an ad in a local newspaper. Some guy was selling his 3DO with 2 controllers and around 30 games for $400, which was a steal. I was young, but I had a newspaper route and I had enough money saved up to get it. If you didn't have one at the time they came out, you seriously have no idea how badass 3DO was. It was a quantum leap ahead...

  • @batlin I bought the Panasonic FZ-1 when it dropped to 500 dollars and even the price drop was crazy people still did not want to pay that.

  • @mp4podcastDOTcom The WP article gave one reason for the high price - the 3rd party manufacturer license, where manufacturers had to make a profit (compared to Nintendo and Sony's hardware which is sold as a loss leader, so they make the profit off the games instead). A shame really. I'd never have been able to afford one of these. In fact, like the Neo Geo, nobody I knew had one - you'd only seem them in big games shops or arcades.

  • @batlin (1) It was $700. (2) It had few games and most were terrible.

  • I own this for 3DO and I will have to say the music is great and animation of the characters are quite good for the console. Also the loading times were not as terrible surprisingly enough.

  • The backgrounds dont have as much parallax scrolling in this version but its still better than the others of that time.

  • This looks nearly arcade perfect.

  • it almost takes 10 seconds to start the fight!!!!!!

  • This 3DO version is simply a newer version of Street Fighter 2 on a more powerful system than the Sega and Nintendo versions.

As with gamepads or arcade sticks, I`m sure there must be some decent alternative controllers for all systems.

I owned the Sega versions but that does not stop me from checking out different versions and ports of the game. It doesn`t matter if it`s 3DO, Sega, Nintendo, 16 bit or even 8 bit. They are all Street Fighter and that`s part of what makes them interesting.

  • Genesis version is better simply because of its controller. The Genesis 6 button controller owns 4 button SNES anyday. The special moves are much easier to perform on a genesis.

  • you have to admit that the music , graphic and sound on the sega genesis is total crap compared to the superieur 3DO Version

  • The 3DO was a commercial failure, and music, graphics, and sound don't matter when the difference is MINOR, what matters is gameplay.

And Turbo was never released on the Sega, we're talking about street fighter II in general.

  • @ShinobiXRevived

The difference was far, far, far more than "minor". Go look over the 3DO game library, and compare to the consoles of the previous gen (TG-16, Genesis, and SNES). Games like Star Fighter, Need for Speed, and Alone in the Dark could not be done on the previous gen consoles. The difference was MAJOR.

  • @spiffyvictory

And? There are a lot of consoles way ahead of there time that were commercial failures or not very popular. Deal with it? Look at the Sega Nomad.

  • @ShinobiXRevived

...and he was saying you were wrong about the differences being minor. No need to go off on a tangent.

  • It's still weird that there's little to no parallax scrolling in the 3DO version. Even the Genesis outdoes it in this area. Oh well, larger sprites, more colors and better audio make up for it. The music is debatable since some like myself prefer the CPS2 beats.

  • personally, I loved the music for the 3DO, it just helped make it epic. Considering everything else around at the time was all synthesized, 3DO at least pushed the limit for sound quality in most of it's games.

Also, don't forget the super frame rate and animations. After playing this game like crazy on my SNES and at my cousins house on his Genesis, there was nothing more satisfying than seeing your character, walk backwards, and using a different stride...lol

but hey that's just me :)

  • hey when I played the Playstation one I was happy to Guile's walk backwards with that one fist out. The 2 16 bits systems couldn't do that. to me his walk backwards says. "HEY! HEY! BACK OFF ME! YOU DON'T WANT NONE OF THIS!" I'M CHARGING! I'M CHARGING!.....but uh....yeah. very happy to see it :D

  • LOL yeah...I think 3DO came first though, I don't think Playstation was out at the time of this game's release (i could be wrong). So the only other console I had to compare it to was SNES

  • yeah 3DO was first but hard for me to get at the time. I had to wait for the two SFII collection games to come out for the Playstation.

  • SNES actually also has 6 buttons, the L and R buttons included. I prefer that one, plus you didn't have to pay extra for it

  • @ShinobiXRevived totally, i can't stand trying to do the strong tornado kick or fireball using those awkward L and R shoulder buttons, and even if i change the designation in the settings, i hate using the shoulder buttons for the low kick/low punch

  • Poo's score is still higher than yours.

  • this is a good game for the 3DO snes version of super street fighter 2 didn't feel as great as SF2 turbo or am I that shit LOL at least I beat it.

  • @xRocketzFighterx This is the best port of the game even it's better than the arcade one

  • actually I take that back when I said its a good game for the 3DO its a excellent game :D I would love to see this game on Neo geo :)

  • You only like the SNES version more because it's the version you owned.

  • @ExtremeBogom Arcade>>>>>any home console.

  • @CCCPSoviet1917

    I agree.

  • The GBA version is best, but I owned Turbo on PS one, PS2, PC, and PSP, so I know what's best.

  • @WebVMan

So what about the Xbox1 version? Master System version? Megadrive version? Saturn version? Dreamcast version? Gamecube version?

If you know what's best, then surely you've played these versions too?

  • @WebVMan Only four buttons though and the shoulder buttons were a nuisance to use. My favourite has to be Streetfighter 2 Turbo on Streetfighter Collection for the Sega Saturn played with the Virtua Stick

  • @ExtremeBogom Exactly, you can't like the SNES version more than an arcade perfect port...or the arcade game.

  • @ExtremeBogom I owned the SNES version and liked a lot but I played the 3DO one and I recognized it is better in every way except for the loading times.

  • basically the 90s version of hd remix

  • I never understood why this version didn't have multiple layers of BG scrolls. Other 3DO games had them...

  • @malducci

The 3DO has more processing power than the CPS2 board but less RAM. Those 2D fighters were heavily RAM demanding games for their time. The system probably doesn't have enough memory to load the additional layers and maintain the right frame rate and character animations ...

  • apart for the loading times, I think 3do had the closest to arcade street fighter 2 port up until it came out on sega saturn and psx

  • the voice of ken is crap compared to the original street fighter

  • uh they sounded a lot funnier in the original all characters not much depth or tone to the voices at all.

or at least just my opinion.

    Aberran

  • the VS track is the same who appear in the Street Fighter Collection of PSX with the remastered sounds

  • This is by FAR my favorite version (3DO) of street fighter 2. I used to play the hell out of it. Also, best soundtrack IMO.

  • Sloooooow loading time?

  • 7 seconds :D

  • Think thats slow? Try downloading street fighter alpha to ur PSP, its horrible!

  • Exactly, I regret that I went to the PSN store and bought SF Alpha for my PSP.The loading is beyond ridiculous.

  • @Calvers06

Download? Get the disc - it's faster.

  • NOEWOOoooo

  • RY:

Oh, God save the queen! A game from my favorite series on a mediocre console.

  • Dude, as suprising as it may sound, this port to the console is actually superb, still wasn't worth shelling out like £600 for the console when first released...... FML

  • 3DO reads data directly from CD, this causes the loading screens and the frequent disc errors.

This was the only problem with 3DO...

  • in that case it must be the problem with all new systems that uses discs and OMG have loading screens.

"frequent disc errors" - i guess you've never had a bad cartridge before have ya.

and CDs/DVDs last a long time if you take care of them. usually the drives wear out before the discs do.

  • yeah man, you don't understand me well. I said that the 3DO, including the M2 project, had many problems in reading because it loads data directly from CD, instead of using a cache. A simply scratch could cause a disc error. I had a 3DO, and beyond that, the console was perfect.

  • oh oh I get it now. god daaamn. so did like all CD consoles before Saturn/PS1 not have a cache on their drives at all? wtf is up with that.

  • Did this reading error occur in all the millions of versions of this console, I think there was like 3 or 4 or something

  • Comment removed

  • WOW the music and graphics are really something on this version of the game. Excellent!

  • Wasn't this the only SSF2T on consoles at the time? I still have this beautiful game in a CD case. Hanging out with all my other 3DO games and Sega CD games.

  • Very true. IIRC, it was an exclusive, or Capcom did not want to oversaturate with Super SFII just coming out... and that game did not do so hot.

  • Pretty sure it was, I remember being pissed I couldn't play it.

  • This is super street fighter 2 turbo that was it's full title,Cause remember in street fighter 2 turbo we did not have camey,Dee jay,fie long, or T halk, in that version yet,So you hade the title right just forgot to add super.

  • a melhor versão da época....simplesmente fodáááááááástico!!!!

  • this game is the reason i bought a 3DO. 399.99 in 1994 was a fortune.

  • LOL it also came out in SNES and SEGA Dreamcast

  • Wrong this version is not on SNES it's only SUPER STREET FIGHTER not the TURBO version of the game with Super moves and finishing combos

  • WRONG AGAIN dont say stuff u nothing about this is on snes cause iv got it SUPER STREET FIGHTER 2 is exactly the same with super finishing combos

  • they didn't have the super power meter on the bottom of the screen i should know too i have the game too!!

  • this is turbo not the regular SSF2 so there wasn't any super fireballs or anything like that just turbo speed and this is the first apperance of Gouki!!!!! So play the SNES version and tell i'm wrong again

  • no but they did on street fighter alpha wich is basically exactly the same as this game it was just named diffrent alpha is exactly the same as SSF2T it has got all the same characters same levels same moves and firballs and supers its just basically a clone i know cause iv got it

  • just say that i'm right and that you made a mistake man, SSF2 was a great game!!! God damn this SF has been killed by so many releases under differnent names fuck!!

  • lol there is tons of street fighters out now it gets extremely confusing cause the

SSF2T wich is this 1 is exactly the same as the street fighter alpha on snes lol and today street fighters are just plain shit ps3 version sucks

  • gotta love the classics man i can't help but bring out the old SNES or MAME and play them. Gotta love Mavel vs Capcom 3

  • 3?

  • ya 3 haven't you seen it? fuck!

  • there isnt a 3 you retard

  • Bumbaclot

  • there was a 6 button controller i have 2 of them . i have a panasonic 3d0 (not the fz-10 the later one) but at one point i had the gunmetal grey goldstar model . that one was awesome it even had a MPEG CART to watch movies!

    ahh the 90s

  • Ah, so THIS version had the "arrange" music from Street Fighter Anniversary Collection. I never realized that until now.

  • while u are correct, to be technical........ sf anniversary edition had the 3D0's soundtrack

  • 3do had the best tracks becuase of the better quality in sound

  • @x6x6xryu The 3DO and PC version are on the same level. I think the PC version is even better although the actual game was terrible...Missing animations, only ran in MSDOS etc.

  • sound bkn of 3do se nota que panasonic tenia buen sonido en sus productos

  • Was there even a six button controller released for the 3DO? The only gamepads I ever saw for it had only three buttons (plus a start and maybe select button). Do you have to switch between punches and kicks?

  • God, I have thi system and honestly this is the HARDEST console edition of this game. Also have the compilation for the Sega Saturn and it is not half as hard as this one!

  • What made it hard was the controller. Not only was it quick to give you blister but pulling off moves was so difficult.

  • Agreed. I never tried it with the super nintendo controller, as there was an adapter to hook that up. I can imagine it was easier

  • Actually my friend picked up the adaptor and it did make some difference. Who ever won the match would use the controller. :)

  • I'm going to have to go on Ebay and try and get one. There is a "Play n trade" near my house but they never get anything 3do software or hardware. Goes to show how limited the units were for this system.

  • BEST CONVERSION OF SUPER STREET FIGHTER 2 TURBO EVER!! i loved this on my 3d0! only problem? play akuma on balrog stage and do an air fireball while balrog has a full super.. he will use it.. and then freeze in the courner ready for you to beat the living fuck out of him!!

  • i want this game on my pc T.T

  • Lol i have 3DO and i had this game but it broke like 2 weeks ago but i just play xbox 360 now

  • They called in OC Remix to do the music for that game.

Pfft, I say. I use the CPS2 themes. So much better...

  • best sf2 soundtrack ever. shame on capcom and david sirlin who doesnt put this soundtrack on the new SSF2HDRemix

  • LOl i still have my 3D0 in my garage with this game still in it :P

The game Twisted was pretty fun too as well as Crash and Burn. :)

  • hate that F**** deejay!!!

  • whate a menut.

  • odd the music is so hi-fi and the sfx are not, it really stands out!

  • I just bought a 3DO for $6 at a thrift store. They used to be $700! Anyway, this was impressive for the time, but you can play this game on the second Capcom arcade collection.

  • Yeah too bad Neo Geo's never went down that far....cheapest one I found was $300-350

  • r yall stupid or somethin....this was way better than the snes and genesis..the music on this ver was way better than the both systems....this game is the best the came out for any system..genesis was crappy music and sound..

  • My 3DO does not have such a loading time... FZ version (front loader) and us version of the game :)

    Love it!

  • Street Fighter 2 turbo and Road Rash were the only decent games on the 3DO in my opinoin.

  • the 3do sucked major ass this was the only game worth playing on it 2 me

  • Very slick 2d games ruled for the 3do...what fond memories

  • Why is everyone mimicking me? (I check dates) 1. This is Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo (SSFIIT) 2. This is supposed to be a review, WHERE is it? Please check my name for the REAL review of Street Fighter II Turbo. Thanks and please leave a comment.

  • at least the music in this version is good...

  • i agree 100%

  • arcade quality for a home console, nice

  • Sound is off pitch

  • That's because this isn't Street Fighter II Turbo; it's "Super" Street Fighter II Turbo - different sound samples.

  • the SNES version has amazing sound dumbass!

  • no

    the snes sounds were horrid

the turbo grafx had the best sounds

    not muffled or staticy
