  • made this for a superbowl party and it was so good!! it was gone within a few minutes! :) the only change i made was adding breadcrumbs to give it a thicker crust.

  • would it work the same in the deep fryer ,or would it stick together .

  • @Mustang5516 It would be fine in the deep fryer.

    --Betty :)

  • Look friken delicious

  • @bettyskitchen: hi betty..Can u plz tel me what flour do u use..?? is it Corn or wheat or Rice..??

  • Betty, can you be my mom :(

  • Why did you not put it in breadcrumb before frying?

  • @KiddyPie123 You may do that, if you want a thicker crust.

    --Betty :)

  • @TrickysFeeds Yes, that would be perfect!

    --Betty :)

  • I do not do a lot of frying however, would this recipe also work in the oven? If so, how is it done?

  • @Nidene123 Yes, you can put the coating on, then spray a baking pan, place the chicken pieces and spray the top also (with cooking oil spray). Bake 350 degrees (F) about 20 minutes or until brown and obviously done.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen... Everything you prepare looks delicious... Dinner time at your house looks like a happening affair. :)

  • @fist2chin Yes, the recipe for a complete recipe is written, but I only made 1/2 as much.

    --Betty :)

  • @COLINATORUK The complete recipe is always below the video. Just click "show more."

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks for sharing the recepie. I was surprised that you did not use egg wash, but just plain flour.

If you wanted to do them in the oven would you start in the skillet or toss it all in the oven?

ps : love your accent !

  • @numeristacom I would probably do an egg wash and bread crumb coating if I were baking them in the oven. Thanks for the compliment!

  • @MrGodlessGR That's a lot of 1 half teaspoons!

    --Betty :)

  • o that looks more like "chick fil a" chicken than KFC. but thats not bad b,c their chicken is so good! suprised to see ur only used flour but it looks so good i have to try it! think i might add just a little sugar b,c for some random reason that sounds good even though i dont like sweet :/

  • @bobwatters This will be more like KFC popcorn chicken if dipped in egg and then in breadcrumbs after flouring. I don't know about sugar.

    --Betty :)

  • is not chicken popcorn... -.-''

  • @anonimus1005 No, it's not chicken popcorn, it's popcorn chicken!

    --Betty :)

  • If I want it more crispy, what should I do? it tastes great by the way.

  • @massboss93 For more crispy popcorn chicken, dip each piece in flour, then beaten egg, then your mixture of herbs and spices and finally into fine breadcrumbs. Fry, and you will have all the flavor, plus all of the crispiness!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty did you ever use egg with the pop corn shrimp also your season I though was just too much but look like they was great

  • @Stlou4 Yes, using egg will build up the crust. You may use only the herbs and spices that you like.

    --Betty :)

  • so they only use salt, pepper and msg now? Those SOBs are gonna make the colonel turn in his grave.

  • @bin1127 That's just something that I have heard and also many viewers have reported the same thing.

    --Betty :)

  • by popcorn chicken they mean crunchy more coating means more crunch and that gives it the popcorn like texture

  • @Evankiller9 That is a good description.

    --Betty :)

  • bety i think ur really preaty and beutiful i wanna meet you so i can know you better love you

  • @NinjaRob21 Thanks for your nice comments.

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen alright thanks.. thank you for the videos :)

    --Betty :)

  • Thought americans didnt care about grease

  • @MrIIZZYY Some Americans don't, but I (and lots of my subscribers) do.

    --Betty :)

  • @MrIIZZYY why so heavy pal

  • @vonihlrodriguez Jokes man (sarcasm doesnt go accross well over youtube)

  • @MrIIZZYY harsch sarcasm hahaha

  • What does ur shirt mean???

  • @tvsk164 I did a previous video where I visited the original KFC, called Sander's Cafe in Corbin KY. They have a small museum and sell souvenirs, and that's where I got the shirt. I wore it, because I was making what I ordered at KFC, the popcorn chicken.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

what spices did you use again?

  • @iet187 There were 11 of them. You can find them in the recipe that accompanies the video. Just click "show more."

    --Betty :)

  • I'm allergic to peanuts, what would you recommend as a substitue for it?

  • @sharkey500 Instead of peanut oil, use any oil that you like to fry with.

    --Betty :)

  • Do you need peanut oil?

  • @hankm133 You may use a different oil. I usually fry with peanut oil because of its high smoking point.

    --Betty :)

  • @TheFlamingGamer Thanks so much!

    --Betty :)

  • i am so gonna try this!!!!

  • @smrpupluv I hope you enjoy it!

    --Betty :)

  • @smrpupluv That's great!

    --Betty :)

  • Hello there Betty, lovely recipe indeed!! Its makin my tummy all growling already... Just a quick question, you know you mentioned later in the video about putting bigger pieces in the oven. I was wondering if I could entirely roast these chicken pieces instead of frying them in the skillet? But if its in the oven I was wondering how would I make the spices and the flour coating stick? Thanks in advance Betty, cheers & Happy Easter!! :)

  • @taryn4080 you can dip the pieces of chicken in melted butter and then into the spices before baking them in the oven. If you want some coating, mix the spices with fine breadcrumbs or crushed Ritz cracker crumbs. I hope you have a Happy Easter!

    --Betty :)

  • wow... thanks for the ingredients recipe... kfc used to be a nice sunday place after the beach... they also offered fried shrimp orders... now adaze, the food is quite yucky/kept in oven... not freshly made... mexene is the best...

  • wow... thanks for the recipe... kfc used to be a nice sunday place after the beach... they also offered fried shrimp orders... now adaze, the food is quite yucky... not freshly made... mexene is the best...

  • wow... thanks for the recipe... mexene is the best...

  • I've always thought "If you want KFC, then go to KFC", & this is why! My boy (14) & I get the hankerin for KFC popcorn chicken frequently. So, we made your recipe (to specs) & I must say, we have elected to make make this recipe over KFC's for over a year now. It's probably saved me $500:). Excellent & Koodo's!

  • @1stcommonsense Thanks for your sweet comment and nice feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Hey Betty, I wanted to ask , can I not use those spices? I really love your recipes like the red velvet cake , i'm gonna do it for my birthday on march 20th.I'm also gonna do the hot wings for my sister's party.Greetings from Malaysia. Louise Carmen =] Louise

  • @Louise4251 Thanks for your sweet comment! You may use any or all of the spices in this recipe. If you don't have them all, it won't make a lot of difference if you leave some of them out.

    --Betty :)

  • Hey Betty, I dont know where to find all of these spices so do you have any suggestions as to what else i can use? I really want to make this because i like KFC, but obviously this is a much better and healthier option! :) I love your videos and your a great inspiration to people who like to experiment with cooking and different recipes!! Your amazing! Greetings from Bristol, England!

    Toby :)

  • @Chunksterrrable Hi Toby! If you can find some of the spices, that will probably be enough for you to really like the flavor. Also, if you only use flour or other light breading, it is much healthier for you!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

Thankyou so much, I cant believe you replied to me! I feel like im talking to a celebrity or something! :D I will definately hunt down as many of the spices as possible as i am dying to mke this! :) I have made a few of your recipes before and i have to say me and my family were very impressed with them! The chocolate fudge was definately a big hit, especially with my nan! Thankyou again :) Toby

  • @Chunksterrrable You are very welcome!

    --Betty :)

  • KFC! :D

  • Oh my Good ! ;) Yummy

  • YUMMY!! I CAN JUST IMAGINE THE SMELL :D .... OH MY..

  • If I'm completely honest, all of the KFC I have eaten seems to only contain a lot of salt MSG etc. I'm not sure if its because they only use a little of each spice, but I can't taste all of these 11 spices. Home made KFC for the win!

  • I guess the flour is standar flour, Have you tried corn flour, that what it is called here in England.. It gives a nice crunch and prevents the chicken from burning and drying out. Great shows I ALWAYS look out for you..

  • your chldren and husband are so lucky

  • This is a great video! I have ate at the KFC in Corbin and have a video of it on my channel...

    Thumbs Up!!

  • Great recipe, my husband and daughter loved it. =] Thanks so much for sharing.

  • @piperkent Thanks for the wonderful feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • I have ate at that KFC many times I go to pineville all the time and stop and eat sometimes.

  • can you do that with pork? o_O

  • @Green2315 Yes, the coating would be good for pork!

    --Betty :)

  • I believe the salt-pepper-msg recipe is for the extra crispy only. The so-called "Original" recipe has more flavors.

  • erbs n spices

  • What a lovely lady.

  • Hi from Germany Wiesbaden, I love Popcorn Chicken :-)))))

    Tom Johnsson (( Facebook ))

  • I did make the coating once with salt, pepper and msg and the coating tasted identical to kfc, but the meat itself just tasted like plain chicken, so I wonder if the 11 spices & herbs they refer to are the things they use in the marinade for the chicken. Try it. Salt, pepper and msg makes an identical tasting coating. But then you bit into the meat and it's just blah chicken meat.

  • @likethepear That might be the case.

    --Betty :)

  • pressure cookers scare the BEEJEEZUS out of me!

  • hi betty great video but every time i try this the flour comes off the chicken and forms into a big mess at the bottom of the pan and the chicken ends up with no coating what am i doing wrong ?

  • @mcpartridgeboy It sounds like the oil isn't hot enough when you put the coated chicken in. It should sizzle and immediately seal the coating to the chicken.

    --Betty :)

  • you look like a somebody in cooking show.

  • Hmmmmmmm. Thank you, I will have to try this on the weekend.

  • Thank you, I thought I could not make fried chicken cause I bought skinless breast,

but you just saved me, THANK YOU, that popcorn chicken looks so good.

  • You're too skinny to eat KFC!

  • you have a lucky palet :)

  • USA must be so fascinating

  • nice job excellent chicken :P

    subbed

  • Oh! And by the way, can I use chicken breast?

  • @MasterSean217 You think those big slabs of meat she's using came from the chicken's back? Come on!

  • Oooh...It's absolutely DELICIOUS! Thanks for the tips! So I could make it without going to KFC to eat! :)

  • yum yum!! could you show how to make a honey mustard sauce? maybe a you could do a video just making dipping sauces and dressings?

    thanks

  • @love2hatedrugs I will give this some thought; I do have several dipping sauces in bettyskitchen already--like sweet and sour, blue cheese, Russian dressing, Caesar salad dressing, etc. But honey mustard sounds interesting!

    --Betty :)

  • Years ago I was given a recipe card by a friend that was for "knock off KFC chicken". It called for one packet of dry Italian salad dressing mix to be added to the flour coating I never tried it as I was afraid my family wouldn't like it. I think I might give it a try now It seems easier than accumulating 11 different spices

  • KFC uses salt and monosodium to save money.

  • Miss Betty, I want to thank you first of all, for what you do. You have given my family, and so many others, the ability to cook good quality food at home! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I also want to say thank you to your camera man! Now for the question . I have noticed most of your list of ingredients say 1tsp, but in the video you say 1/2 tsp. PLEASE understand, I'm not trying to be nitpicky... just trying to do it right. Thanks again for what you and the hubby do!

  • @rasor64 I think I recall that I did not want to have a lot of the spice mixture left over, so I only made 1/2 of the recipe, but I wrote up the whole actual recipe. That's why *everything* is 1/2 as much. So, you can follow the video or follow the recipe write-up. Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • @rasor64 I made the recipe smaller, so that Rick and I wouldn't have too much chicken to eat, but I wrote up the full-sized recipe, because I thought most people would use more than the two of us would. You can use either set--the video to make a small amount or the written recipe to make more! It's the same recipe, just in different amounts.

    --Betty :)

  • @rasor64 Thanks for your lovely compliments!

    --Betty :)

  • i love your dish and really great, specially for kids no monosodium glutamate

  • im normally a troll and an asshole and leave degrading comments on youtube. BUT....I think your recipe looks absolutely delicious Ma'm! I will definately be trying your spice combination, as well as your tips on frying. Great video and i thank you!!!

  • @playdrums You're welcome! Thanks for the nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • @playdrums, yeah me too.

  • @b1rdkeeper Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • great video Betty keep up the good work :)

  • it's nice to see some one making a cooking show that isn't rehearsed all that much, as I miss the old days when cooking programs were about the food and not the glamour as they are now a days.

so keep up the great shows (subscribed)

  • Hi betty! What was the last spice and the spice after all spices??

  • @ChiomaxD Marjoram. The complete recipe is always typed up near the video. Just click the down arrow or "more info."

    --Betty :)

  • I did not have 11 herbs and spices. But It was good. And I did not have a bag so I use egg wash. I used some of my own mix

  • @marilynmonroesugar Thanks for the nice feedback! I appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Do I have to use peanut oil? Is rice oil fine? Thanks!

  • @shimmerpole You do not have to use peanut oil. You may use any oil that you typically use for deep frying.

    --Betty :)

  • I thought you were supposed to put the spices in the flour and then dip the chicken in the flower and then some egg wash.

  • @badcat1324 I made a lighter variety, but it would be more like KFC if you dip it in egg wash and then spiced flour.

    --Betty :)

  • i love grease :O

  • my vegetable oil gets blackened when i put in the flour coated chicken

    why??

  • @monimstarfox If the flour is burning, your vegetable oil is not deep enough.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

your right and i realized that i was also cooking with too much heat thank you :)

  • looks delicious and beautifull =) made me hungry xd
