  • Chopped frozen spinach packs are awesome to make a spinach dip and keep it as a side to eat with your chicken! YUMMO! I use 2packs chopped spinach, 1 bar of real butter, 1 pack real cream cheese, and sauteed red onions and a couple spoons of garlic! Top with parmesean cheese, bake 350 for 12mins, absolutely DELISH!

  • Don't forget, at Sam's Club that big Philly Cream Cheese.

Have a mock danish, See Bowulf's YouTube Recipe.

Put in some real Blueberrys, just about 1/3rd hadfull and extend microwave time to 2minutes 30 sec and top with sugar free Smuckers Blackberry Preserve and butter.

Oh boy...great panacake substitute by the way.

  • I buy that all the time! :)

  • I like to sing...don't you? :)

  • The only trouble with the "cheap" meats you recommend is that they're often full of who-knows-what kinds of preservatives and chemicals. Yeccch.

Have you ever considered creating a video for those who want to go low-carb and stay environmentally-friendly? I think a lot of people would be interested.

  • Oh, you can definitely be environmentally-friendly by reading your labels carefully and buying the good stuff. But oftentimes that will cost you more money when you do which was NOT the purpose of this video. But I appreciate your comments. :)

  • Great tips, thanks for posting. Some more ideas: Kroger has 73%/27% ground beef in 5 lb. rolls for <$10.00. The rendered fat that doesn't go over my greens, I add to my leaner meats. All this stuff goes a long way since it's so satisfying. I also switched from diet pop to iced decaf green tea. Even though I "splurge" on organic greens and coconut oil, it turns out that eating low carb is WAY cheaper for me than how I was eating. Thanks again. You're an inspiration.

  • PERFECT! THANKS for sharing your success eating low-carb on the cheap, Marcus. :)

  • Hey you two Skinny helpful love birds, I have a concern and would love if you could address it for me. I have been really constipated the whole time I have been on Atkins, to the point to where I haven't gone for a week or more. What is the best fiber supplement for Low Carbers to take that will help resume regularity? Thanks Jaremy

  • Hey Jaremy, GREAT QUESTION!!! Besides all the wonderful fiber you get from consuming non-starchy and green leafy veggies, you might want to supplement your diet with some Fibercon or psyllium hulls (avoid the husks, they can scratch your internal organs). Hope this helps!

  • Thank you much my good friend. I have been eating my 3 cups of salad veggies along with a little other low starch veggies. I make sure to drink plenty of water as well...I know that it is dire on this regimen. I am staying on the induction phase for a few months because I have an excess amount of weight to lose. I will be sure to get some "Fibercon" today.

    Thanks a million!

  • It'll help you more than you know! I stayed on Induction for 4 months when I weighed 410 pounds starting off. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

  • We do not have a bulk store close to us but I shop at Aldi's weekly. They have cheese, butter, Frozen foods such as philly gourmet thin steaks and grilled chicken strips, hamburger patties and so forth which make great meals quickly for less than most grocery stores. They also have many fresh veges as well. Their salad dressings are really very good. After 4 years of doing low carb it hasn't bankrupted us yet. Healhty foods are not that expensive if you shop smart. Thanks for this episode.

  • Shopping "smart" is indeed the key, Skeeter! THANKS for sharing your experience. :)

  • Standing Ovation!! I love your statement at the end! Totally right about that, and it really is true you don't spend alot on low carb if you compare the cost of Carbage aka junk food to good wholesome body nurishing lowcarb produce and meats. The way I feel about the low carb lifestyle is getting back to the way my grandparents ate, very simple. Growing up on a farm such as they did they naturally ate low carb ... produce they grew on their land and livestock they slaughtered themselves. :)

  • THANKS Sadekat! People don't take into account all the money they waste on more and more and more of these high-carb junk foods that make them eat too much. Low-carb foods, on the other hand, are usually able to be consumed in smaller quantities because of the satiety that comes from both fat and protein.

  • 5.....Star Video;) Once agian jimmy and christine deliver so much LC bang for the buck!

  • At least you got your money's worth. :D

  • So Jimmy or Christine ... why do you limit yourself to 4 oz of cheese a day? I'm new to low carbing ... fill me in. :)

  • Dr. Atkins warned about overconsuming cheese while losing weight because it's too easy to get too many carbohydrates from them. So limiting yourself to 4 ounces means you'll get no more than 8-10g carbs at the most. Hope this helps!

  • Gotcha! Thanks for the explanation. Makes perfect sense. DAMN THOSE CARBS!

  • LOL! You shall overcome. :)

  • great video. glad you did this one.

  • THANKS Teresa! We've been meaning to do this one for a while.

  • Tuna is a great money saver. You can buy canned solid white albacore in bulk. Add some mayo, chopped celery or cucumber and tomato. Put a few mounds on a plate, top w/cheese. Microwave 'til cheese is bubbly. . Yummy.

Another low cost staple - peanut butter(check label for low/no carb). A teaspoon of pb makes a great late night snack to stave off hunger.

Also, Linda's Low Carb website is a great resource for ideas.

  • EXCELLENT suggestions, RobinAnn! Although the peanut butter can be tempting to overeat, so be careful with it. I agree Linda's recipes are amazing which is why I'm glad she is a moderator at my LivinLowCarbDiscussion dote come forum.

  • So true about how much we all waste on junk foods! I think I spent more on junk foods than I do now on healthy low carb meats and veggies! The low carb foods also keep you full longer resulting in less consumption! So all around its a wonderful decision to do low carb and your body thanks you :D Love your channel its very inspirational!! I have about 100lbs to loose.. been on low carb for 1 week and already down 4lbs!!! God bless you both! -Vanessa :)

  • Vanessa, that 100 pounds will be a cinch for you following a low-carb nutritional approach. CONGRATS on your success so far and KEEP IT UP!

  • Good video folks. I have actually found that low carbing is not that expensive. Like you said in your vid, watch what you buy. I started induction last week jus to letcha know:) Already feels good to be back. ope I can drop that 89lbs again like the 1st time. One concern now is me having "MS" I wonder how this will effect me? I'll let you know as I go. God bless you two,, and all the rest reading..

    John

  • YOU CAN DO IT, John!!! Le us know how you are doing. I would not be surprised to hear your MS symptoms improving from being on a healthy low-carb diet. GO GET 'EM buddy and let us know how we can help you along in this journey.

  • thanks!

  • You're welcome! :D

  • Lettuce ($1) and ground beef (less than $2 per pound) are extremely cheap and versatile. If you shop around, even whole chicken can be cheap (less than $1 per pound). I have never found low carb to extremely expensive diet except for when I go on a steak buying mood, and even then I buy a whole NY Strip or ribeye roast and then slice it up. A local butcher does it for $6 a pound for a choice cut. That is excellent deal!

  • Great suggestions, Kent! THANKS for sharing.

  • Thanks for the video, you too are cute together.

  • THANK YOU Seedcovers! We like to have fun with these videos. :)
