MCABE WITHOUT RICHARD ASHCROFT WILL NEVER BE AS REAL AS THIS...ASHCROFT IS THE VERVE..MCABE NEEDS ASHCROFT....ASHCROFT DOES NOT NEED MCABE...THE VERVE ..LOSING ASHCROFT IS LIKE REPLACING DARTH VADER....ASHCROFT HAS SO MUCH TALENT...AND I WISH TO GOD I COULD MEET HIM ONE DAY...RICHARD YOU ARE A ICON..AND YOU MADE MY LIFE BETTER EACH TIME YOU PUT A NEW RECORD OUT..DO I WISH THE VERVE WERE STILL A GROUP YES...BUT I UNDERSTAND NOT GETTING ALONG....ME AN MY BROTHER CANT BE IN THE SAME ROOM OR ITS WAR
@wtfisjesus - I'm guessing you didn't grow up in the 90's? All you heard on every radio station and every music programme was The Verve. You literately couldn't get away from them - not a bad thing for me because I loved them back then....as did nearly everyone in the school I was in.
People - let's acknowledge greatness when we see it. The Verve may never get back together, but their work will digitally outlive all of us. If Appalacian Springs doesn't move you, you've got something wrong with you. My opinion at least.
stfu about oasis, they are fierce competitors but i'm going to side with the verve, all oasis has is wonderwall in 1995, thats all they are known for to the average person today. period...
Didn't realie the Verve had so much good music out. While I'm no fan of the new YouTube format, I do like the fact it groups similar sounding music which I can just let run. It has exposed me to so much more than I might've stumbled upon indiviually clicking. So much crap out these days, it's great to run up on something from the past which turns out to be sort of new if never having heard it before. A win win.
Lol, some of the lyrics are Cliche, but Ashcroft's singing's great, and it, like other songs on the album remind me of the kind of mood that was found in Gravity Grave.
i believe this footage was taken at the time nick wasnt with the band during the second leg of the urban hymns tour when they were touring seattle and canada. ya know when nick left the band because of a rift with richard.
so why do u comment under the video of theis song if its that boring to u....richard aschcroft is one of the most talented song and lyric writer in the whole world and this can beeasily proved just by listening to his songs...who could thought of such a genious melod in the song bittersweet melody or appalachian springs?and I have many more examples like that...so plz if u dont like them just dont watch them and dont tell em boring because u cant recognise the masterpieces they have created..
I hope that music like this is continued to be made. Not this pop crap that is dominating the charts all over the world. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen, Pink Floyd and The Stone Roses have gone, Oasis reached their peak in the 90s, it looks as though both The Verve and Radiohead are splitting up...the only really good band we've got left is Coldplay...let's hope they don't turn mainstream on us.
Why have they been so under rated all these years? The band is absolutely amazing, this is what real music is, this is what real talent is. Not those fucking puppets you see on MTV who don't even right their own songs.
Richard Ashcroft is the greatest singer and song writer of the modern era.
Find a new handle? If you don't have faith or know anything about Jesus, you'd probably look better and not cause such inflamation with such a name, especially on a song from your boy Rich.
Thought this was the most Verve sounding song on the record. The other seemed more like they came off of Richard's solo albums. I think they need to bring out Nick Mcabe's guitars more. His guitar playing is what gave the Verve they're signature sound.
Not that I disagree but Richards solo efforts certainly were no garbage. I think Nick's space/atmospheric sounding guitar along with Richards voice will always be one of the best sounding combos in music. Such a sound!
I love the Mccabe interview about this, apparently he really pushed it and credited the vocals as Ashcroft's best performance to date and really pushed the band to get this track right. Every single lick he is completely real and it's great to know they didn't just reform purely for a quick buck
Already one of my all-time favorites. It gives me the same feeling as "Weeping Willow." Some sort of sadness...
I wish I could see them live, but they will never come here. This song must kick so much ass in person. It already sounds out of this world when I turn it up on my headphones.
Great music! This album is as good as any other previous work the verve have made. It only needs time to sink in. In time it will be remembered as such. It is immmensely well elaborated for my taste. To get the full effect, try to listen to this song very loud, specially from minute 2:24 to minute 5:00, It'll blow your mind! You won't regret it. It's just an amazing tune. I get goosebumps when i play this song in my car. ...Oh my God, it's so unbelievable. Brilliant song!
Well I like the new album. I think I probably, like most people, anticipated something gigantic but the album is pretty strong. They've never done anything like Columbo, which is my favorite song on the album, and Noise Epic. I like that they moved from the ballads of Urban Hymns, although the ballads were great, and created something like Northern Soul but different.
As stunning a track as Sit and Wonder. Pity about the rest of the album. These two tracks are the only songs that make the hairs on the back of the neck stand up. By the Verve's standards, they've gone from sublime to human. I would rather have waited twice as long for this album to grow into a finished masterpiece.
