U can't fooled me u hang the car with some stupid driver inside then hit the gas all the way.... Every single car can do what it says on speedometer..... Dumb ass.... Come on where not 2 years old here....
I actually have done this on the road. But it takes a bit of tweaking. First off, my transmission has 3.69 FDR gears, and a 38 tooth reluctor wheel, and at the time I had a 2500 stall torque converter. All of these things with a stock PCM cause the speedometer to read 26% too high. For instance, when the HUD says 100, you're actually doing approximately 80. It's possible to display 199, I've done it on the road, but it's also fake.
@SuperKazra yea a grand prix gt which only has a standard v6 with out a supercharger producing about 200 horsepower did 195mph get a life kid the only person your fooling is your self
I have a 1998 gtp. I have put in new plugs, spark plug wires, PVC, feul filter and new catalyic coverter and the feul pump is about 3.5 years old. And a new crank shaft censor. While driving at 45 mph, when I give it gas to pass it hesitates like it's out of gas. Check engine likes comes on and resets itself and goes off. Code reads mass air flow censor. I'm going to change it but can it be something else. Someone please help.
its really easy to manipulate a VSS. I like GP's. my first and current car is a '03 GP GT. but to even think that is is possible with 4T65E don't think so. the tranny case is way to small to get any gear that would go up to 199mph in there..
@taftcali The smaller the gear the faster the wheels spin. This is possible on the stock as there is torque converter that can actually have the car spin to those speeds but it won't be possible to brake the wind force therefore this car won't go pass 140-145ish to say the least or it will reach higher speeds in very long times.
The 4T65-E is substantially stronger but is still not bulletproof in stock form. I blew up one without too much trouble. You can really prolong their lives by not hooking up slicks or drag radial. It's a lot easier on them if the tires are the weak point.
@HaloScreamerLoverR95 Yeah i like to play in mine alot , When it rains i slide and spin tires a lil . and the car has 210 k on it . all original parts , trick is i dont dog it .
@HaloScreamerLoverR95 Yeah I have always noticed that if you make the tires the week point the tranny last a LOT LONGER . I have a 99 cougar fwd that is stock . And I have doged it on wet tarmac ( about the only thing it will give right on ) and it dont seem to stress the car that much . And with the addition of me always putting royal purple in it .
nos bottle was removed at the end of the video thats why it got up there that fast. i love gp's ALOT but i just lost respect for that. i like performance that has none of that nos. im sry
this was without. the nos bottle was empty from the run before, just didn't get around to taking it out. This was shot on video tape, then converted to DVD, so there was a minor glitch.
I apologize if anyone saw that last comment I posted (I deleted it) I hit reply to the idiot below me (hockeyman474) and it posted it as if I was commenting on the video - which I was not (though I am quite impressed with the GP regardless of the freewheel)
@hockeyman474 You fail. That pretty much sums it up. Have a nice day!
wow you are pretty damn ignorant. do you not hear the dyno noise in the background? and see that the hood is up? maybe the indoor echo? nothing? Christ go buy a civic and be done with it
car should still have resistance when it approaches top speed. go buy a civic what does that have to do with anything you idiot!!! ya by the way i have a 95 mustang GT vert...i dont buy imports
are you serious, dude, the car is on a dyno, with no resistance, its not set to pull the car down to test power, it was freewheeling. if a car can do 100+mph moving itself, i think on a set of rollers it could turn the wheels 200mph (so long as the gears would allow it, and i have one of these cars, and there geared high enough to do it)
Fake. It's only possible if you alter the speedometer readout in the PCM. This happens on my gtp with 3.69 gears with 38 tooth reluctor wheel and a stock PCM speedometer readout. But i've done this on the street with a 2500 stall.
I'd rather the chip still. My dad chipped his '92 blazer knocking the speed limiter off, (don't even ask me), and not that it matters in a blazer anyhow. But it gave him about 40 more horse and the sucker is still goin' to this day. Had that blazer well over ten years with 400k miles and still pulling vehicles behind it. Haha. Exact same motor and tranny, too. Never been replaced.
if you can't get over 120 in ur car as it then somethings wrong with it
I got one still with the limiter and its not very hard, pick up doesn't even slow down up till then. You get to 129 and the rpms just stop moving you'll be in final gear with like 3500 rpms and a redline 2500rpms away
wow you must have the fastest grand prix on earth, or you just jacked your front end up and let the tires free spin. I wouldnt believe this video for a second unless i saw the dyno readout. I own a gtp and i love pontiac but i would LOVE to see the dyno readout
Always wondered what happened when it gets THAT high in the count. It blinks at you like W...T...F...are you doing to me! LOL Awesome man. I've only had mine up to 147MPH on the open road, thats fast enough for me. (unless you count the photochopped picture of 172MPH)
Actually, we didn't use the N2O on that run. I was uncorking it at that point. We did use it in later a later run that day but were afraid of the fuel shutoff leaning out the engine and we backed off before the redline. Still, it made over 300 hp at the wheels. Fun day!
The cast iron block is better, IMHO, the 3.8 series 2 is a highly over engineered engine which makes for some crazy durability. I'm at 225k miles on my Grand Prix GT and still running very strong. The transmission, however, is another story.

wow you got up there quick!!!! but, probably shouldnt have showed the nos bottle at the end. still a good run. what are your numbers? (i have a blk 2dr gtx and i love it also)

97-2003 are the only real GTP, and Gt's the rest are just built on the best.
would like to get my hands on a 3800 III though. and drop it in. hahha, it would provide so much more power, and its lighter than the 3800II
Gtsstrife 3 years ago
Aren't the 3.8II made with a cast iron block? And the 3.8III w/ an aluminum block?
officerdick5151 3 years ago
yes, that is why they would be lighter. haha. they would lower the whole car weight of the gp. becasue they are heavy as it is. lol.
Gtsstrife 3 years ago

officerdick5151 3 years ago
The cast iron block is better, IMHO, the 3.8 series 2 is a highly over engineered engine which makes for some crazy durability. I'm at 225k miles on my Grand Prix GT and still running very strong. The transmission, however, is another story.
