  • god this is beautiful

  • easily one of the best post-rock tracks in existence

  • SO STRONG!!

If you like the feel of this song go search for this:

The Inituition - Open Your Frozen Heart And Start Living Again (NEW 2011).

    VERY STRONG AND POWERFUL TOO!!

  • 14 dislikes are Madonna fans.

  • you guys should check out dancing for architecture on myspace, awesome music much like this

  • This really is, quite literally, the best song ever...ever!!

I want to go out listening to this and I am going to request that it be played at my funeral!!

  • There's an unofficial porn music video to this song at xhamster.

  • I was there and I remember this moment of the concert as the most intense. I was flying. What a great song!

  • thank you all very much and i will try them out.

    thanks! :)

  • Animal Collective ......any day and any Time .....but do not listen to their last one (Pavillion...)

  • i tried getting into this, and like dont get me wrong its good and everything. just not what i was looking for, can anyone point me in the direction to anything that sounds sorta similar to Battles?

    thanks in advance :)

  • You tried Ratatat?

  • fiery furnaces-widow city

  • nothing sounds like the beatles, or at least not for me. They're unique

  • Just saw them in birmingham alabama of all places....been listening to them everyday at work for 6 years now....Fear Satan was the last song they played last night.....truly brilliant!!!!!!

  • mogwai is the only post-rock you need

  • No, it´s not.

  • ok if you don't agree what better is out there?

  • explosions in the sky

  • Lolol. EitS is pretty generic... Not bad, but generic. GY!BE and Mono are great, Caspian, Tortoise (wether they like it or not!). Tons of great p-r. But Mogwai are one of the best :P

  • How is EitS Generic?

  • 'More of the same' style of music.

Don't get me wrong. I love 'The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place' with all of my heart. But other than that and the Rescue. It's all more of the same. And it falls into that 'crescendo post-rock' section that is kinda not that fun to listen to that often. Mogwai nails crescendos on the head when they try it. EitS, only sometimes.

  • yesir

  • Animal Collective ,any...... day...... any moment any way give your taste a new chance ...try ....Animal COL .

  • gybe.

  • i would lie, cheat and steal to see these guys

  • Steal me, I want to go with you to see that!

  • saw them twice in sg. best ever!!! and they signed my guitar!!! I shall treasure it forever!

  • The best song ever...

  • I'm going to see them at Studio Coast, in Shinkiba, Tokyo in January. Can't wait. The new album is damn good too. Needs a couple of listens but it's on the mark as usual. Might try ansd sneak a camcorder in with me.

  • freakin rad as fuck

  • i saw these guys in austin, tx last night. they played this song and it was effing incredible.

  • September 23 in Montreal,Oh yhea! For sure I'll be there tabarnak!

  • man the kevin shield remix of this song IS AMAZING

  • I saw them last night (9/9/08) in Los Angeles. It was amazing. This track was by far my favorite of the night. when they hit the moment (seen here at 6:41) I nearly lost my mind. I felt the wave of sound hit me in the chest. I love it.

Side note: I had a death in the family and attended a funeral this past weekend. Afterwards I was listening to My Father My King and it made me cry. Like most men, I rarely cry. Thank you Mogwai!

  • they didnt play this song last night dude

  • I mixed my own words up. You will have to pardon me. My mind has been elsewhere lately. Regardless of my marbled-words, I love this track and I loved the performance last night.

  • Its okay bud, I am sorry to hear of your family member, and yes this song is incredible. They were great last night, I was just perplexed because if they would have played this I would have freaked out.

  • That's incredible. My father died two years ago and when I listen to 'My father my king' I remember him as he was before he was ravaged by cancer. In the garden, happy, smiling. But, yes, it makes me want to cry too. Powerful stuff.

I also wrote to Mogwai recently regarding Tokyo gigs and additional fees on the door. Barry Burns emailed me back 3 times in 24 hours to see what he could do about it. Top band. I've never had that from anyone else before not even company customer service depts.

  • special band, special music.

  • That sums them up very well.

They were great in January too & they will be back in Japan for the summer sonic festival...

  • @cl0udtop special moves

  • fucking wow at 6:42!!!

  • ahh agreeded lol

  • except for maybe new paths to helicon pt1 this is my favourite mogwai song, and thats saying something.

kudos on the excellent audio quality :)

  • totally agree... plus you don't know Jesus...

  • hey nwo, your entire life has been a waste of time. When you die your body will be gorged by worms and maggots. no heaven no hell. You poor foolchild. Anyway, mogwai are fucking nice.

  • wow, that was brutal.

  • Does anyone here know this guy? Because I think he's at the wrong party

  • WTF!? What the hell as this go 2 do with Mogwai dickhead?

  • freakin cant wait to see them in chicago

  • This song is one of the best post rock songs ever made, full of ambience and atmosphere, sweeping dynamics and intense energy.

    Shame bout the vid quality!

  • i don't ever want that song to end.

but it always does eventually :(

  • yeah, just like watching justin timberlake up there

  • foad

  • What the fuck is your problem?

  • sexed up - because they're moving on stage?

  • mogwai have always come under bitter criticism and this song is one reason why. For some reason they just seem so self absorbed and too sexxed up on themselves to be taken seriously.

If this was simply about the music, I would go to Winnemucka and watch the trailer park videos. Get yrself a snakeskin tracksuit and sack up on yr musical history chart.

Mogawai is A++ but this track on this site makes them sound D-minus at best.

  • a sea of jew fros is blocking my view..

  • and now...can you say that you know every emotion ?

    ****JeLaisseMaVieAlaDestine****

  • Hearing this live is one of my happiest moments.

  • ummm, no.

  • i had a nightmare. it was about mogwai and satan.

  • Maybe because it is an epic 16:17 saga, has varying dynamics, and uses the flute.

I quite like it, one of my most favourite songs, great for chilling out.

  • A real masterpiece.

  • fantastic.

  • I keep rewinding and watching 6:41.

    SO GOOD!

  • sticking my nose into a sediment of ballroom sentiments...

  • Seen the boys live a fair few times and Fear Satan is always fucking epic!!!

    Goosebumps ahoy!!!

    'mon the 'gwai!!!

  • Seen them live several times. This, Like Herod, and Christmas Steps are the best live songs. Try not to tear up from the beauty of it.

  • 6:41 :D

    Great Song!

  • altamente ! ;)

  • everywhere you go, there you are

    - b. bonzai

    thanks

  • this song got me into music and picked up a guitar!

  • i saw em do this way back in 97.. just awsome!

  • favorite song, awesome

  • Oh, man... shivers down my spine. I need to see them live. Really.

  • music needs no image, picture, or eyes. just to be heard with your ears. my brother is blind... he's an amazing guitarist, working on grade 7 now! we would put vids of him on you tube, but he did not want it. peace out

  • just ... perfect

  • I always thought of this as more of a blue-greenish song than red.

  • Interesting, you visualize tracks in colors! I do it too, but I can't think of anything to this particular track. I don't think, or see. I just feel...

  • Indeed! That's probably better. The color thing could kinda cheapen music, I'm thinking. I personally get a narrower emotional response as my "color" of a song gets more solid.

Good to hear I'm not the only one though!

  • For me, it's actually the exact opposite. If I like a track, I can visualize it, and not just in colors. And if i can't visualize something, chances are I don't like it. This track simply drones so strongly, especially live, that I find it difficult to visualize it.

  • definately blue green.

  • love the drum pattern...and the genral song!!

    May they live forever!!

  • Well, this is the perfect track live. Totally explosive, the drone could knock you down or push you to a wall. Plus, this is compelling as hell! Orgasmic, I tell ya!

  • These boys know how to rock!! The Royal Albert Hall was blinding 2006. This tune makes your bum open and puts goose bumps on your ears. Good work 'sweaty socks'!!

  • i now fear satan

  • The ultimate post rock song and one of the greatest songs ever recorded! Definitely a song for my funeral :) They also played it live when I saw them a week ago in my hometown Amsterdam. Amazing how they play this track live, the flute is not missed and the guitar sound is electrifying! One of my all time live experiences.

  • I like the flute. damn it!

  • I saw them 2002 in santiago of chili ,

Then, we have two funerals with the same song, does someone add?

    love the flute...

  • Was that in the Melkweg ?? I was there as well.

Absolutely adored that show and they did this track in a different version, shorter - but still quite explosive and gorgeous.

  • I wish they would come to America sometime.
