i have a pitch problem but i dont think its the pitch controller. do i have to replace the electronics board? one of my technics spins realy fast for about one minute then stops and then its fine. if i bang on the top of the platter realy hard several times then i can get it to pitch normal faster. my other turn table just has such an eratic pitch even when i unplug the wire for the pitch lever its still pitching all crazy. any suggestions??? djslew4u@yahoo.com
Crap decks that don't work they are. I have the same one and you can hardly hear any sound out of the speakers, yet with my ordinary bush mini turntable the sound comes through perfect with that.
I wasted a lot of money on one oof those Technics dj turntables and wouldn't advise anybody to buy one.
@DJNardini No I don't. That's why I asked isn't it. It's the first time I got one. Got it cheap off Ebay. Threw it away long since anyway. I'm sticking to ordinary tunrtables.
@nealthedude Ur asking me wat was wrong with ur turntable that u bought ages ago, dont have any more and i never seen it???? how can i comment on ur turntable? i have been dj'ing since 2003/4 and started with crap turntables then bought direct drive turntables, and to this day still use them, i love them. Though if a turntable is really cheap on ebay chances are the seller abused them and wanted rid of. you were probably the unsuspecting victim. if you had bought a new one you'd still have it.
Just had pitch swappd out! However now whenever I move from 0 to +1 or +2 the Pitch the platter spins slower as opposed to spinning faster so it is actually slowing down all the up until the point I get to about +2 where it goes back to zero and starts to speed up again. The shop I took it to get fixed for the pitch have never seen anything like it. They stated that sometimes the pitch can have dead zones because their maybe some type of problems between the pitch and the actual motor.
Tell the shop to use a multimeter on the pitch control circuit board. They need to place the positive probe on the first wire of the plug and the negative on the second wire. They should read 2.7kohms. They can move the potentiometer that is on the same circuit board to get it to that value. Remember, none of the unit should be connected to electricity. Instead of placing the probes into the plug to test, it is easier to place them where the plug is soldered to the board.
hey, i just took one of mine to a guy to do it, BEFORE i saw this video. FUCK i wish i saw this earlier. maybe i will take it back before he gives me an estimate. how much do pitch controls usually cost??
what's the standard time the pitch should last in sl1200?
i bought my first sl1200 deck early this year (new) and found out today that the pitch needs replacement. i do practice everyday and ride the pitch quite alot but i thought these things would take bit of more beating.. any ideas?
You should post on changing the rca cables, I'm sure all would agree they suck. I changed mine before with some cheap cables. Would like to use monster cables, or quality gold cables
nice tutorial, but after seeing you break it I got a pitch+pcb pre-wired on ebay, plug and play rather than solder and break my poor deck =) great video nevertheless
you need to watch the red led dots on the platter, they should not jump/shudder in any way when you move the pitch, if they do then the pitch is on it's way out. all the best johnathan
I don't know if you mix/match beats but you'll notice when you're mixing. One record will spontaneously fall out of time (and kill your mix).
Also if you have two copies of the same record, you should be able to beatmatch them with the pitch control on each turntable at 0. If one is off zero, then the pitch could be replaced.
not shure as i have never opend one up, but i would of thought that they would be roughly the same, best ask at a reputable technics/panasonic dealer though.
Great vid....it remembers me of a time i did do a lot with electronics myself :P . Is it a common fact that pitches of SL1200's cause problems after a couple of years or so?
Hi would you be able to do something on servicing decks yourself. Like cleaning it all up and making it run like new. Also just a query i have 2 numark TT500s and on one the tonearm is a bit loose from the collar (thanks to a younger brother and his friend)so its a bit wobbly and moves a little when scratchin or back cueing. Its not a major problem yet, i hope, but is there also a way to fix this or replace the collar on the tonearm lock. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
if you mean the red dots they represent the speed of the turntable( go see vid on buying a second hand dk) When you are at 33 or 45 and on the green the large dot will not move, as you speed up the dot,s will then start to move.
great video. im just not skilled enough to pull this off lol

Is Technics SL1200 M5G Pitch Control works with the Old Sl 1200 Mk2 or to SL 1210?
novalichestrack 3 years ago
i don't know, but you can actually remove the clicking at 0% by removing a tiny metal ball in the pitch control

ellaskins 5 years ago
they tell u the speed of the record from 100%.
the bottom one is -3%
the second from the bottom is 100%
the third from the bottom is +3%
and the top one is +6%
as you change pitch (speed), it gives you some visual idea of where you are.
also, a newmark deck i saw today in a store didn't have this. i think this is just stupid.
