@parcelcity I don't think he has. I would love for him to see it. (Getting him to see it is one of my life goals.) I just hope he doesn't think my film is judging him.
@williamstone96 they gave us the camera and a full set of lenses and accessories for the weekend. (friday, saturday, sunday.) it came out to $1500. they liked our project so we got quite the deal. for transferring we went to fotokem. they did some basic color correction and transfered it to a hard drive. that was the most expensive part. $2300 i believe. we shot at a very low ratio, with little unused footage to keep costs down.
hi!, you made and increible video!, i am from ecuador and my favorite director is scorsese, when i saw your video i like a lot, i remeber that rumor was amazing!!!, if you need someday an actor in south america i will glad work with you! :)
you kind of have the story a lil mixed up, he and the producer HATED each other, amd he only had mean streets and a box car bertha, and alice doesnt live here anymore out at the time so how could de palma be in his shadow, regardless of the fact that he is way better nowadays, but overall its pretty cool dude the cinematography and lighting was sweet, i'd love to see some more stuff
@stickfa93 Hey, thank you! I understand that De Palma had more work out than Scorsese at the time, but with how much praise his first couple films were generating I thought it would be safe to create a fictional jealousy in De Palma who at the time had made, what people thought were Hitchcock-rip-offs. It is a fictionalized version of De Palma and he and Scorsese are great friends in real life.
A shame to see that these kind of quality videos don't get the amount of views they deserve. Really great short film, although I think that the super dramatic violin build-up sounds could have ended less abruptly, but maybe that's the style you wanted to go for...
@iwantoldschool Tarantino tells the story with alcohol being the substance of choice, however Marty was in rehab for coke a couple years later, so I would not doubt that.
Haha, well yeah, De Palma was as keen on technique and the unchained camera as his father Hitchcock was, and that shot in the dream sequence of the camera panning from the gun to the film producer's shaking hands is as Hitchcockian as anything I've ever seen, I enjoyed it quite a bit. De Palma's love for technique can be seen Tarantino's work, but the style most prevalent in your technique I noticed after a second viewing is PTA's post Boogie Nights, which is taken a bit from Scorsese, in those
I enjoyed the movie, particularly the subject, I love Scorsese myth and philosophy, and I have to say my favorite little bit of the film was the line of dialogue Marty says to the producer, that God gave up his only son for his art: humans. Great work, hope to see more from you, take care!

Yes, I'm a huge Marty fan. Do we know if he's seen this yet?

What camera did you use for this?
williamstone96 1 week ago
@williamstone96 We rented a Arri SR3 from panavision. It is a super 16mm film camera.

@samsdayfuss Thank you for answering. How much did it cost per day and how did you transfer the film on to the computer.

Marty was a MAJOR COKE HEAD back in those days and everyone knows that. I think whoever made this should've dabbled into that a little bit.

I've heard that rumor! Julia Phillips was telling the truth, and yeah, Marty did almost kill that guy.
iwantoldschool 7 months ago
@iwantoldschool One minor point though: according to Julia, it wasn't Jack Daniels - it was cocaine

Amazing! Really enjoyed it and love the fact that you shot this on 16mm film.
