  • lol that is an american, alright.

  • wait, who's this tanaka kakue lol

  • I would watch Sengoku Jedi.

  • Hahaha, I love this

  • lol nippongo

  • 5:30 「洗い中」じゃなくて、お笑い芸人の「荒井 注」さんですね^^;

    あと6:33は、正倉院の宝物の「螺鈿紫檀の五弦琵琶(らでんしたんのごげんびわ)」の事を言っているかと。

  • @anchoco1146 手伝いをくれてありがとう!アメリカ人ですから、少数のお笑い芸人だけを知っているんです。 ^^;

    それから、「螺鈿紫檀の五弦琵琶」が本当に奥義の知識なあ・・・お笑いの翻訳が難しくてもっと練習しなくてはいけないね。

  • @anchoco1146 OK, できた!

  • 5:30のあらいちゅーん は、 ドリフの荒井 注 だと思ってましたw

  • Awesome subtitling! Actually Tanaka Fukenko means "Tanaka is not healthy"

so Tanaka is not healthy for drawing too much manga.

  • Thank you for translating these!

  • Well! XD This was highly entertaining, even if I understood like 20% of the jokes.

  • It's funny because it's true.

  • Wow, amazing translation.

You understand the jokes which even I couldn't...!

    Thanks a lot, from Japan

  • コーヒー・モカマタリ コーヒールンバの歌詞に出てくるよね。

  • COMING SOON.

  • @IJethrobot

    No no, you misunderstood.

Rahmens did also another video: ラーメンズ 日本語学校中国編

from the serie of the language schools (you did: america, italia, franch, african, there is also chinese one)

    watch in you tube watch?v=jUaLRKUatew

  • @alexdal Right, my bad-- my apologies. I do know about that one. I haven't much time these days to translate. It follows a similar pattern to the African Japanese Language School video, but it is funny in its own right.

    ~ Jethro.

  • Thank you for the subtitles. I watched these videos for years but now i can understand better.

Have you time to subtitle also the chinese video? code:jUaLRKUatew

  • @alexdal Hey, you're exactly the type of people I made these subtitles for. I'm really glad you enjoyed it! : )

Unfortunately, even though they share some written characters, Japanese and Chinese are completely different languages. I only know the former.

    ~ Jethro.

  • `koohii mo kamatari' is from Coffee Mocha Matari, which is from Coffee Rhumba.

  • @kikira77 Ugh, I wouldn't have gotten that in a million years. If it is any consolation, my fellow Japanese graduate students here didn't get it, either.

    ~ Jethro.

  • Hats off. Superb job. Tanaka Kakuei himself would be proud of this!

  • @montecristo73 Too kind! Thanks for checking it out.

It makes me wonder if Tanaka Kakuei has actually seen this...

    ~ Jethro.

  • OMG, your subtitle rocks!!! Thank you so much XD!!! RAHMENS FTW <3!!!

  • @nintama6 Anytime! I have a few other videos by them (and more on the way), so check them out if you're interested.

    ~ Jethro.

  • Oh wow. That had to take a ton of work, and from reading the other comments, it did. Great job!

  • @Book5204 This one was definitely the hardest so far. But, there's another one (it's a two-parter!) that will definitely top this one in terms of translation and length difficulty.

    ~ Jethro.

  • That was incredible... Your translations and explanations meant I laughed at the bits I was supposed to laugh at. :P Yay!

  • @CarylCake The only problem with it is that they go REALLY fast, so you really have to pause to understand everything...which sort of runs against the point of a joke. But, I prefer to be thorough for the sake of my own practice. : )

That being said, I think there are a few errors in my translation.

    ~ Jethro.

  • COMING SOON!!! :D

  • @TheJollyTog A MAX A SHALLOW IV?

    ~ Jethro.

  • Jethro, you're my favourite.

  • @gaerpedsun Thanks! There are more to come, if you are interested!

    ~ Jethro.

  • Wow... well, it was certainly entertaining, even if I had absolutely no idea what was going on. Amazing job with the translation.

    "COMING SOON!" :)

  • @withalittlegrace It's unfortunate that it's tough to follow in real time, because it's just so fast! I can't even estimate how many times I listened through individual phrases to just to figure out what was being said.

Still, parts of it come across pretty well universally-- COMING SOON and the roll call are the best for everyone, I think. : )

    ~ Jethro.

  • This was fascinating, and very funny, even if almost all the cultural references were new to me. Also, awesome job with the subtitling, and all the research that must have gone into explaining all the cultural stuff along the way!

  • @ghostwritten87 It was about a week and some change of working on it -- consulting dictionaries, Wikipedia, and my Japanese friends in the lab here. But, I sure did learn a lot (and was surprised about who they talked about).

Next up-- Italian Japanese Language Class! : )

    ~ Jethro.

  • Coming soon was my FAVORITE part. That was a pretty interesting clip. Culture shock isn't the right word, but it's the only one I can think of. This really seems like a japanese version of "Whose On first?"

  • @Kentkillmore A MAX A SHALLOW!

It is pretty ridiculous, to say the least. This kind of duo-style comedy is quite popular in Japan nowadays. You see them all the time on variety shows.

    ~ Jethro.

  • Brilliant!

    Good subbing Jethro.

  • @xiberphim Thanks dude. Another ones of these will be coming in the distant future.

    ~ Jethro.

  • @IJethrobot Distant future? Aw man, I can't wait!

  • @xiberphim This one took me about a week and change to make, and this one had a lot of easy English. The next one will be for Italians instead of Americans. : P

    ~ Jethro.

  • @IJethrobot Oh my, a Japanese comedian's take on Italians? This could be good.

  • COMING SOON!!! XD

I can't say I understood most of the jokes about the historical figures, but I did enjoy the play on words. XD

  • @auracel The only real joke based on who a historical figure was had to with Tanaka Kakuei -- especially around that part with Lockheed and Doraemon. But otherwise, essentially all the other jokes are just ridiculous English. : P

    ~ Jethro.

  • This was hilarious! It's exactly like grammar school. :p

  • @TheMissingSignal They have other ones with different nationalities. The next one I do will be for Italians!

    ~ Jethro.

  • @IJethrobot Ha, that's fantastic. I'm curious and afraid of what that may be like.

  • @TheMissingSignal Never fear! Rahmens never fails to impress me. : )

    ~ Jethro.
