Dude is strong. Though on proper rings this is even harder due to the stablization required. Need to have strong biceps and forearms to not fry your elbow tendons too - this issue (tendon strength) gets worse with age if you haven't been a gymnast from an early age.
@paulflo12 The Iron Cross is really a testament to your entire upper body - it's one of those most difficult moves to perform, and even harder the variations (such as maltese, inverted, victorian). It uses your shoulders, traps, triceps, pretty much everything.
@MstrJames I think that if you are using all those muscles just for a cross, you are probably doing it wrong. For a simple cross, all you need to do is roll your shoulders forward and lock into it. It requires almost no strength at all except for your bicep. Maltese and planches are a completely different story.
Re-read my statement. I said "And EVEN harder the variations" not "Even harder THEN the variations" the variations are much harder. I realize I was a bit unclear and my sentence could of been worded better.
but..No!-by the way i would say iron cross vs maltese is arguable. The rest is clearly harder than cross. I think for people(like me) who did planches on the ground and then got to rings maltese is easier to learn than cross
@KalaXionE lol gymnastic comps have 9 foot straps i think. my school has rings as well, but 20 + foot long straps , its rediculous just trying to do dips, supports, muscle ups . i figure once i can do a cross on that , ill be able to do weighted crosses on regular straps lol
I stumbled onto your channel and I'm super impressed. How did you initially start your training? I'm doing research myself now, and using a few internet sources like TT, and beast skills to get form and technique.
james ur goal was to do 5 soild seconds ur goal is nearly accomplished u r 1 second off from what i see in this video keep kicking ass james keep practicing

If you have access to rings, it's easy to get to. Just try going a little lower each time. Eventually, you got it!

Very close. Probably a month of less left of training. And seeing as there are 1 month old comments, i would imagine that you have it already.
