  • The girl on the Piana is fine....

  • Rock 'n roll before rock 'n roll?

  • BB King recorded a great cover of this tune many years later!!!

  • (this here R&B) + (old Country "Hillbilly Music") + (a splash of old jazz) = Rockabilly!

  • sweeeeeet ! Louis RIP

  • My name is Caldonia! Hahaha i love this song. The way he describes her is exactly like me, I have big feet, when i dont have anything to eat in cranky, all my bf's mom's think im trouble, (wtf?) and im long lean and lanky haha

  • My name is Caldonia! Hahaha i love this song.

  • This is the amazing original that Woody Herman copied, put in a white bread sandwich and made into a hit.

  • I love Mr.Louis Jordan. He plays not only Jazz but also great american music!

  • wow, shes SO hot...where are women like that nowadays?

all them hos runnin round in 100inch high heels half naked with they butts outta they skirts n shit

  • @g4ngst4m4n I agree with you! I'm a woman and I HATE the idea of showing off everything! She's showing her beauty and sex appeal with out showing too much. Imo modesty is sexy!

  • @g4ngst4m4n they exist, it's the media that focuses on the hos and the skeletons

  • The bass player also played for Cab Calloway. Search "Call of the Jitterbug" by Cab Calloway and you will see him.

  • @JPfromFlint Are you sure that's Al Morgan from Cab's band? He does look like him, but his playing style is a lot different!

  • This song should be in the next Fallout game.

  • LOL @ "Caldonia's bad for your morale, son."

  • Thats rock and roll

  • My step mom's name is Caldonia. . . You have no idea how much she hated it when I found out about this song.

  • @Shad0wKrylon hahahahaha she should have been grateful a classic like this was made after her

  • @Shad0wKrylon LOL

  • @Shad0wKrylon your bad lol

  • @Shad0wKrylon Is she tall, thin, lanky and aint had nothin' to eat?

  • There is a version of this song where the vocals run a lot more smoothly, and it has more of an early boogie-woogie rock n' roll tone...but I love both versions just the same. :) Oh and I love the part where he shrieks out the last part Caldonia and dances around like a monkey for a couple of seconds...

  • I've got pictures of the old people, and man, they look just like this! BLOW BROTHER, BLOW!

  • This is what I call a house party!!

  • That trumpet player really looks like Lee Morgan! but hes not..?

  • @opcfuzzle Lee Morgan would have been about 8 years old - but he was great

  • Great song.

  • This is awesome. :D

  • The very first rapper.

  • I love louis jordan and my last name is jordan I would shit my oants if we were related then I find a alto sax and start takin lessonslol

  • My gramps used to call my gram "Callie" after this song. He really took to heart the chorus of this song. He loved my grams more than life itself.

  • I love how they have their bitches on stage lol

  • Also recorded by Woody Herman but this is the best !

  • When I talk about this guy to people who have never heard of him, I say that he was little Richard before Little Richard ever thought of it. I have an anthology album. I can definitely say he was the first rock n' roller ever.

  • Elvis Presley made me listen to this!!

  • MAN just LOOK at her legs! what a beautiful chick. And if you dont love Louis Jordanthen you need to see a shrink.

  • Years after I first heard this it sounds better than ever - probably because of the acres of shite I've endured in the interim under the guise of popular music. This is one of the most joyful sounds on the planet - and this guy was a major influence on BB. Straight fuckin 'A'!

  • i love the way that the snare souds soo low

  • que arrecho

  • too the mother of jesus bless yoy

  • Yeah Lets Kick Some Ass

  • He kicks ass, LITERALLY !

  • Always make smile.

  • this is where rock n rool came from, son

  • What a great tune! I remember this song being played Serbian and Croatian tamburitza musicians in the 1970's.

  • "Caldonia's bad for your morale, son! Keep away from her!"

  • Remembering the great Louis Jordan today: July 8, 1908 – February 4, 1975

  • Imma tell my girl "Caldonia! Caldonia!! what make your big head so hard!?!! and do the kick in the air. she'll really dig that!

  • This awesome song has been covered thousands of times. It’s called jump blues a cross somewhere between jazz, blues and boogie woogie. I always said that this song was really the song that launched r&b and one of the songs that inspired many early rock n roll artist.

  • Now that is a fine ass black woman.

  • @sirroxalot I'd hit it.

  • Thumbs up if you came here because of Dominic Deegan and ended up falling in love

  • Awesome old school music. This is truly amazing. Thank you Mookie for directing me to yet another awesome music artist.

  • Louis Jordan is so much funny and friendly to me! I love his music! Thanks for this!

  • the song is already a unique thing for me, but the video clip is something else

    it bring's smile

  • @grievermode Your looking at the man who made today's music videos possible

  • I heard another version of Caldonia... The music is almost the same, but there is in addiction an electric guitar, sounding like in Chuck Berry's songs...

  • The intro made me giggle. The rest of the song made me smile.

  • Walkin' wit' ma baby, she got great big feet, she long lean and lanky and ain't had nothin' to eat.

  • First time i heard great stuff they had real soul thanks for the history.

  • i love this song

  • Beautiful, totally cool, groovy, and ya just gotta love it!

  • B B King must have liked him a lot cause he covered several of his songs

  • started rap

  • @MKFCFTW - This is not what started rap. Rap is disgusting filth trash. These men all play musical instruments and he is expressing his interest in a woman. Today music is degrading to women, and says it is cool to be a thug, and a gangster. This is what started ROCK&ROLL and R&B.

  • @DanielSchmidt94521 whats disgusting about rap is the people rappin about swagger and being and gangs doin drugs and shooting people. rap is pretty much expressing how u feel

  • @MKFCFTW

"Rap" is not disgusting. what's disgusting is radio stations who play lil wayne and soldier boy as if there is nothing better out there. any BS can find an audience somewhere but they select the worst of the worst garbage and play it over and over and over.

  • @bigotrysux i never said rap is disgusting

  • @MKFCFTW

But I say rap is disgusting!!!

  • @tumsabai1 everybody's different

  • Thanks mrstep2me, please I know her name now. Excellent tune, never gets boring.

  • "CALDONIAAHH!!!"

    This song's awesome.

  • The first rapper. lol

  • This is a great tune from the master and the atmosphere is just perfect - beautiful woman too. I'm unsure of her name but she dances on most of his tunes - he has good taste! Oh, by the way, that's the great Earl 'Father' Hines on keys and it looks as though he's enjoying himself as always.

  • @Musicartsandcoffee The girl is Nicky O'Daniel.

  • The slicked hair.... The snazzy tuxes..... I wish I was from that aria.

  • @YurisDisciple you mean ERA,lol ;)

  • @YurisDisciple

    Men dressed sharp back then.

  • @tumsabai1

    They sure did! :)

  • Great stuff!

  • 0:59 you can't say that that man doesnt look like tupac

  • @HerbisH20 lol he looks like little walter off cadillac records

  • @HerbisH20 I noticed that too :P

  • This is everything that's cool about Humanity: sharp-dressed, jazzy Blues cats, yummy women, tenor sax, walking bass....I want to go and live in this video when I die!

  • @pyannaguy Me too sir this is real music

  • @pyannaguy

    Can I go too???

  • Now I can for believe in black people!!!!!!!!!! I love you guy from the bottom of my heart!!

  • i agree @106732..... i'd say this is actually a perfect example of blues and jazz blending. so this could be one of the first rock and roll songs.

  • My mother is 90 years old and occasionally she'll say, "Caldonia, what makes your big feet so big?"

  • The rock and roll hall of fame's movie mystery train gets it right. They say back in the 40's started rock n roll. Like it or not Blacks started rock n roll and i must say it was a great invention and then old stupid whitey screwed it up in 55. Thank god the 60s got it right again.

  • Roy Clark and Clarence Gatemouth Brown did a fine version of this song.

  • like if you got this from mafia 2?

  • whoaaaaaaaaaaaaa this is my song!!!!

  • OMG i hate being reminded of this song *ugh* every single time i tell someone how to pronounce it they always say "hey isn't that a song"? that's so annoying >.<

  • @caldonia09 This is a great song, who cares if people say that...You should be honored that a song like this is sang by so many artists...I named my car after this song!

  • Light was right back in the godd old days I see.

  • Looks like they had the concept of "video vixens" down as far back as the 40's.

  • The guy on the trumpet looks like mos def who just happen to sing this song in Lackawanna Blues, i loveee it!

  • caldonia rocks goods this is the best song

  • Blues is Soul !!! No Blues No Life !!!!!

  • Someones grandma's in the background getting down.

  • You all need to checkout the soundtrack to the broadway show " 5 Guy's Named Moe. " It's all about this musician Louis Jordan. It's excellent.

  • what an era cool music cool dudes and women that dressed sexy like women should,

  • Great song the first time i heard it it was on a movie called "Lackawanna blues" i loved this song the first time i heard it

  • wnix4564great ; from yhe 40's

  • I guess Rocket 88 wasn't the first Rock and Roll single, this is Rock and Roll.

  • @bloodnokian Many people feel that Rocket 88 was indeed the first rock and roll song. However, Caldonia would bring up some very strong arguments. Louis Jordan is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an early influence and deservedly so.

  • @loveclevelandohio we learned in our rock and roll history class that it is considered to be the first rock n roll song \but i still like caldonia better

  • What a treat with the fantastic AL MORGan

Louis Jordan plays Tenor Sax .........the best years of the Thympny Five

  • you know he got laid after that.

  • The grandaddy of R & B!!!

  • What more to say...? The classics of R&B

  • So much to like about this video and LJ's music: great horns, great vocals. Jody808 is right - R&R came from this got, not Bill Hayley. And the girls on the piano - Caledonia I guess - is hot!

  • This is great!!!

    Fantastic.

    Thanx!

    Greetings from Holland.

  • God I love this version. What an amazing song!

  • so this is the source of RnB....my dad raves about this guy.....i love the bouncy rhythm.....im a hip hop fan, but this is a keeper.

  • Actually Mos Def sang this song in the movie Lakawanna Blues and did a fantastic job of it! You can get the sound track and it's great

  • rock'n roll !!!!!

  • this man to me is the King of Rock N'Roll or what was to become rock n' roll, he predates Elvis and Little Richard, these clips are from the 40s.

  • Jody your absolutely right this man along with Joe Turner,Lionel Hampton created a style of music called "Jump Blues" music historians said that it was blues music with a beat to it and because of that you got rock&roll,R&B and everything else you hear today.I call these men the TERRIFIC TRIO!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jody808 Louis Jordan was one of the leading musicians that played "rhythm and blues", a precursor to rock n roll. The song was released in 1945.

  • @musicman69123 He was one of the main pioneers for a style of music named Jump Blues along with Big Joe Turner and Lionel Hampton it was the predessor for R&B AND ROCK &ROLL AS WELL
