When I watched it, I was around 6 years old. Here in Greece they kept their relationship as it was, and I remember even then I could understand that they were more than friends. However, the producers portrayed their relationship in a way that is so romantic, that from my point of view, there is absolutely no reason to censor it. I wouldn't mind my kids learning by this way that a relationship can exist between people of the same sex. It is something they will learn at some point anyway.

I think it sucks that they were made cousins here in the states. if they got their heads out of their asses it would be a good way to teach the young audience about homosexual relationships & maybe there would be less homophobia in this world

i definitely agree. I've been to japan. They're extremely open about it. It's in sooo many animes, mangas, movies, songs and even very open in public. Two people of the same sex can walk down a street holding hands and not have people stop to make negative comments. I wish things were so open here as well. Another thing to mention, (which im sure many fans know) is Venus and Mars were also lesbians in the Japanese manga original.

Clearly they are flirting in beother versions. so what the U.S.A. is saying. they would rather have them as flirting cousins then lovers. so the U.S.A wants them to commit Incest instead od Homosexuality....

As a "good liberal," I've always been accepting of homosexual relationships. But I don't think that I ever really "got it" before. This is the first same-sex relationship I ever saw as romantic, sweet, tender. I guess I knew, intellectually, that such relationships exist, but this show is where it clicked with me.

Haruka and Michiru are certainly the first lesbian couple to bring me to tears. And they have, more than once.

So how come they missed this? I mean really: they're so quick to see homosexuality where it is not, but they utterly missed it where it is.

I've never understood the whole situation, as a child. It was completely confusing. Now I can understand that they're likely lesbians, but as a child it was... Sometimes I thought: "OK, now I se, he is a boy and maybe I was wrong thinking she's a girl." But other times I saw, that he IS a girl. I couldn't explain the whole thing.

I don't know why it was so important to make the kids confused.

@JonPiano I believed it was blocked out because they didn't want to create an outcry by the parents. Homosexuality is more accepted in Japan than America. Anyway public outcry by parents means no show which means no money being made by selling Sailor Moon merchandise.
