  • It was interesting that Benny Parsons mentioned that Terry Labonte's first win came in the 1980 Southern 500, since he was in that bizarre incident with Dale Earnhardt and David Pearson on the next-to-last lap that opened the door for Labonte's first win that day. All three of them ran in an oil slick from a blown engine and they all hit the wall. Labonte, running behind the lapped car of Neil Bonnett, slowed down and avoided the carnage to outrace Pearson to the caution flag to take the win.

  • love to see that final pit stop that put the ice man out in 1st place.
