@pa1ntingpics Thanks! I'm really happy you like it! Most of the characters I didn't design though. A lot of them were done my this great designer Tim Moen. I just storyboarded.
@FoggyHunterX *looks up brony definition* ... Cool! Thanks! Not a My Little Pony fan, but I am a sucker for a lot of other cheesy animations. Especially Disney. Heh!
@megakid39 Oh yeah! All of the clips in this are completed as far as the storyboards are concerned. None of them made it to market though unfortunately. I did work on storyboards for one direct to DVD feature, and I'm currently working on a couple projects right now, so hopefully I'll be putting up more of my work on my YouTube channel as it comes through.
@Skunkoon98241 Oh yeah! They're both finished with the storyboards. But the studio went under, so I doubt they will ever be completed. Thanks, though! I'm glad you like my work!
@LuckyNekoPrincess I never realized that, but I can see the similarity. I'm pretty sure we worked on this project before Angry Birds was even released, so it's just a coincidence.
@KaschaKitty Thanks! I'm about to get started on a new set of storyboards so, perhaps you'll get to see an actual finished product in the end this time. Haha!
I can't believe how little attention your videos are getting! Unfortunately, I only discovered them myself because of your short snip in Bath Rhymes. It stuck out, and I figured I would track you down. Definitely going to share your site with my friends and family :)
@AmandaMacification Thanks! I'm glad you like my work! I really haven't been doing the You Tube thing for very long. I just used the account to show my demo reels around to clients and whatnot. But getting such a large reaction to my Bath Rhymes entry, it really has helped motivate me to work on more personal animations to share.
@Jamchanizhere Hah! Thanks! I pretty much referenced Napoleon Dynamite directly from the movie. Tried to get the camera motions right and everything. That was a fun clip to do.
@MrLoneWolf009 No, those were add drawn with a wacom tablet in PhotoShop. Unfortunately, I don't own the rights to that story or those characters, so I couldn't finish that story without getting in a lot of trouble..
This is just beautiful. I love the design you have for your characters. It's really reminescent of Don Bluth and a little bit of recent Disney animation.
@MichaelBurling13 I'm glad you like them, but I can't take credit for the designs. The only design of mine is the wooden bucket character. Pretty much all the others were designed by the people I worked with on the projects.
@GruntofAction I can't take complete credit for the comedy. There was another guy who did the writing for that episode. But I'll have to agree, the bat is probably one of my favorite character's I've worked with.
@TMCsyforceHUN It's called an animatic. It's visualizing the movie in storyboard (comic) form before you actually make the movie. That way you can quickly, cheaply make changes and edits before you spend the big bucks on final production work.
@nekoluver101 Unfortunately, I don't own the rights to them. Believe me, if I did, I would love to do something with them. And besides, there's more stories out there. Thanks for the kind words!
Amazing job. Even with just the key frames I could watch these all day. Where did you get the audio... not the music but the voices... are they from other things, or do you have voice actors? Sorry if that's a dumb question...
@TheEtesian All the clips were done when I worked in a studio. So they are all voice actors. I did the bulk of the voice directing in there as well. I loved doing that. I did the voice of the pig that says "mine mine mine!" and the bird that says "you'd rather us all drown than let us borrow a hammer?".
I like The Spider's Web (the one with the cat holding her baby and running through the storm to her home). i hope it will be released as a normal film.
@mag237 I don't think it will. The studio was just getting started on the production phase when it shut down. I don't even know who has the rights to those properties anymore. The Spider's Web was a pretty good one. I loved drawing those cats.
@pivotgunner096 Unfortunately nowhere. I don't think any of these got past the animatic stage. Sorry, man. I would have loved to see them animated as well.
@TheVeyZ Thanks! I can't take much credit for that bat. He was designed by the director, and all the dialogue was written by another writer. I just storyboarded it.
So I want to know, are you going to do this for Disney some day? Or are you going to go with another animation studio? What do you thing will you would do for these companies?make movies, animation boards, comics? I'm really interested and inspired by your work. I am getting into Disney animation and what now...but I have a long way to go!
@meageekygirl Well currently I'm freelancing, so I've done character designs, storyboards, animation, some effects as well. I'm kind of sticking with the freelance gig because it gives me time to work on my own projects. But if a studio offers me a sweet deal, then we'll only have to see.
@tiredartist Well sir, if I worked for Disney I would recommend you in a heart beat....the only thing is (that I've noticed) is that large entertainment productions these days are having animation done on computers. I rarely see ones that have been done on paper (and are decent). But you have a true talent. I am becoming an artist and I just love Disney animation. I am currently working on 'Toy Story Style'. I was wonder if you could give me some good hits to follow. Possibly a college to go to?
@meageekygirl Yeah. I tried 3D for a little while, but it just didn't float my boat like 2D does. So I'm trying to stick to that. As for colleges, if you're really trying to go serious Disney, then CalArts would be my first choice. Animation Mentor online seems to put out some really good work out of their students. Other than that, I really can't think of much else. Not for a focused animation degree with the Disney philosophies anyway. But I haven't done much research in that department.
@tiredartist Ok they are pretty simple questions but Im pretty new to the whole animation thing...
Ok! Here I go.
Is there any way to make a drawing repeat its self so I don't have to keep drawing it over and over again on the next slides??? And is there any way to shade in what you draw? Also, how did you make the color change on your dick figures entry? Ya know...red is red. But whenever I try to draw in red, I'm not able to draw red on the slides with black/blue on it.
1. - Repeating the frames is easy. Simple click the frame you want repeated along the column of frames on the left, and drag down. The further down you drag, the more frames it will produce. These are called "clone" frames and they can do different things according to how you have your settings in PAP.
2. - As far as shading, you can do it by hand if you want, but you really need to think of PAP as JUST PAPER. There's very little it can do as far as post-production is concerned. You can mark the shadows on a different layer in PAP, but as far as shading and coloring, you will have to export your PAP images and import them into another program such as ToonBoom or PhotoShop to do ink and paint and EFX.
3. - Believe me, I would LOVE to do my rough animation in red instead of blue, but beggars can't be choosers I guess. It goes back to what I stated before, PAP is just paper. I animated red in black, and then exported my frames and imported them into Adobe After Effects and used that to turn my black lines to red. I also used After Effects to composite all of the characters together as well as the backgrounds. AE also did the motion blur when the camera moved.
You... you did all that by yourself? except the voice i mean it's kind of impossible to do all these alone... but except this you did all this by YOURSELF? Oh my god! This if just incredible!!
Whoa!! Favouriing this! This is absolutely incredible. I love all of them. My favourite ones would have to be the cats, the hummingbirds, and the shrimp. That angry fish looks so Disney like. His eyes looks very Disney. I could easily see him in a Disney movie- too bad Finding Nemo's already done it :/
@tiredartist Nice, well your friend should defintely work for Disney. You all should work for Disney!! Who designed that storyboard guy at the beginning? Lol, reminds me of Michael Moore! I'd love to see the hummingbirds completely animated! <3
a joint effort, i remember you guiding me with references from an aquatic book you had-one of the many bargain books you brough in weekly. but thank you for the credit : )
@tiredartist Hello My Oscar and I really enjoyed your design, It looks so much like the old disney. I'm an amateur college artist (still learning the basics) and I would like to know were did you learn to draw like that and how do you train to achieve this great skills.

I can't take credit for the fish design. It was done by my good friend Tim Moen. I just boarded it.

@tiredartist Nice, well your friend should defintely work for Disney. You all should work for Disney!! Who designed that storyboard guy at the beginning? Lol, reminds me of Michael Moore! I'd love to see the hummingbirds completely animated! <3

@nddlj I designed the storyboard guy at the beginning. It's supposed to be a drawing of me. lol. Thanks for the kind words.

@tiredartist Hello My Oscar and I really enjoyed your design, It looks so much like the old disney. I'm an amateur college artist (still learning the basics) and I would like to know were did you learn to draw like that and how do you train to achieve this great skills.
