I think that people who need to keep comparing him to his Zeppelin days, never understood where Zep were coming from. They never sat still, they were always extending and expanding, and looking for new direction. Maybe his voice isn't quite up to 1969 standard, but I saw him in '84 when his voice was brilliant and he was trying to carve out new paths for himself. I love the journey he has come and I will continue to follow whereever this legend takes me.
Zep, and specially Page and Plant, never stopped rocking for many people, including me, although I was a late comer given my birth year ;)
but still, I have been hearing more and more of each artist and their different musical paths, and all I can say is both are great, and kudos to Plant for giving it his best shop all over these years, his music has inspired countless others, and his legacy will live on long after his years.
No more comparisons, just enjoyment of music please :)
@Arasan822 My exact thoughts! Read my posts. Zeppelin were about changing course and direction. People don't get it, but Plant does. I welcome anything new from this man. Ok I will quit posting my thoughts on the matter! Robert you are still the MAN!
@Ketersimax Well said. Zep always strived for originality-going to new places musically. That's why a Zep reunion is absurd. I like where Plant is going with his musical journey's.
if all of you are going to compare robert to his former days in zep, then you just dont get his music. i suggest you spray your hair gel and wear your acid wash jeans and rock out to old zep albums since you are living in the past. roberts voice is still the best. yeah he doesn't sound like he does in 69, but this is 2009.
well my friend, you have had the chance of seeing him in his prime, unlike many of us who went just to see him, even in his current shape. what id give to have seen him 30 years ago when Led was the real deal, however i wasnt even born back then :)
so ill settle for RIP any time of the day, given that i cant get RP
I thought about going to this as i live near. Last time i saw him ws 30 years ago at Knebworth. This sounds awful - so glad i did not. His hair and form looks the same (at a glance) praps he is Mickey Rourke in the wrestler. It will be death metal next :-) The "violin" solo at 2.30 fits in well with the up-beat mood. This is more RIP than RP
give the guy a break. he's just going with the flow. have you held up better in the past 30 yrs? i'm only 25, but already my thin days are over. That's life. LOL
i dont think he can do old zepp songs anymore, especially the ones that need strong voice, like Since I've Been Loving You, though he did give a few of his famous high pitched screams at WOMAD...
and since his last performances with Page, I dont think he ever sang old zepp songs as part of the main attraction of his concerts
he sounds more relaxed when he is not doing old zepp songs i think it's hard for him to go back to zepp without some great new material.not the old stuff again.

robert is not a sellout like jagger and tyler. he has respect for the legacy. zeppelin did it's thing in the past, lets remember and enjoy it.
