  • Greetings,

The recipe and the procedure are in my book. I will eventually be posting it on YouYube...The reason you really need the recipe from the book is because the procedure is also key when preparing great honey balls.

  • Thank you for this really easy to follow video, its so nice to see different variations of this sweet from other parts of the world :) I grew up enjoying the greek "Loukoumades" which my grandmother made.. its very similar to Awwamat. :)

  • Excellent video. Thank you for sharing your culture. We lived in Jordan for two years and the persian gulf for another three. My son requests these sweets often and now we are making them for his class. Shukran.

    Chef Kamal

  • its close to impossible to find real Syrian recipes on youtube-- would it not be better to dip the spoon into cold oil that way you dont have water accidentally dripping into the oil---this looks fun- i need to look up the recipie- x shelly

  • wheres the recipe?

  • MY mum makes these for ramazan :D And i mix them in the syrup and put them in the ball. Thanks for sharing this :)

  • You are welcome.

  • hey they look like our pakistani/indian gulab jaman!? o.O

    look so yummy..mmmmm

  • Greetings,

Yes, they do resemble one another. I believe gulab jaman is more"doughnut like" in texture while awwamat have a crunchy outer shell and are light and airy inside. I agree...they both look so yummy.

    Chef Kamal

  • Marhaba Kamal....... Mashallah your cooking looks delicious!!!! Can you please send me the recipe for the dough and the syrup you use for the honey balls, hope to hear from you soon....... thank you, Salaam

  • Sir, you made my mouth water! When I ran across your other videos, and saw the heading for "Honey Balls", I was curious! I wondered if they were similar to the Italian Pignolata's ( small pastry balls bathed in honey)or Strufolli that we serve for desert on Christmas eve and New Years eve. These large Awwamat's look fantastic! I have never seen a Lebanese chef before, let alone preparing foods on the net! I am somewhat familiar with other Lebanese food thought, great recipes, take care!

  • Greetings,

Thank you for contacting me. I beleive the difference between "honey balls" and the two recipes you refer to is that the honey balls have a crunchy outer shell and a light airy center.

I hope you will try the recipe - I think you will enjoy the honey balls.

    Stay well - best regards,

    Kamal

  • Haha, I should have watched this video before attempting to make these. I found some random recipe on the internet and tried them out, and mine look mishapen and sickly. Not to mention they're not crunchy. Thank you for the video! Hopefully my second batch will be like yours.

  • Your welcome. Good luck!

  • i really wanna try this...can you give me the recipe...please!

  • Greetings,

    Happy Holidays,

  • OK. I am hooked. First on my endeavors will be the lamb meat pies (I ate them as a kid from my mothers kitchen) then a batch of these. I can't wait!

Thanks Chef. Your cookbook is next on my list. شكرا

  • Greetings,

The meat pies are great and the awwamat are really great.

    You are welcome ...sahtain.

    Kamal

  • Thank you so much.
