It's kind-a dumb hey. Peoples have been migrating since the dot of time before the lands were even named 'Germany' or whatever. Personality matters more than nationality. Wasn't that why people bothered fighting? To stop someone who believed otherwise. Or was it just because they envied someone else looked to hold some power at that moment, and actual ideals mean nothing?

@Hawbawbowba The Germans were mainly assimilated in American during both WorldWars. And the most still have no Idea what the Germans did for the USA. Go to the Pearl Harbor Memorial and look how much German names you can find on the wall.

German americans are one of the three reasons america rose so quickly (others being Irish/Italian). Other cultures entering america today could take a lesson to the dedication and fortitude these cultures showed

germans aren't the largest, mexicans are. germans were the largest up until around 1950 or so but then things changed.

So the Christmas tree is originally from germany it was adopted by the Romans in Italy, and from there spread throughout Europe and then brought migrants to America

No, there's not much German culture in the U.S. because we have always been a good people to be integrated and assimilated. When we go to a foreign country, we mostly give up our culture and become true citizens of the new home. Because if we wanted to be Germans -- we would stay in Germany. If we go to the U.S., we don't want to be Germans, so why bringing German culture to America?
That's at least how we think.

Who is a "German American"? Someone with a great-grandfather who owned a German shepherd? If you have German ancestors, but also English, Irish, Italian, French and Russian ancestors -- then of what ethnicity are you? Or when a white and a black American get a child -- is it an African or an European American? Or an Afro-European one? The Schmidts who became Smiths and the Eisenhauers who were later known as the Eisenhowers surely are not good examples for "German" Americans.
