  • He just could've learned the piano...its kinda ridiculous :/

  • @Porly62

He is a virtuoso pianist also.

He often plays both at the same time.

  • funny how 13 people somehow found this just to dislike it

  • This guy is AMAZING!

  • between this guy, victor wooten, and tosin abasi ive decided that black people are more talented than white people. haha

  • Amazing ! This is not a guitar, in his hands, it is a real new instrument !

  • @malilite No, its just a guitar.

  • bassoon rules!

  • Hey, I played bassoon for 7 years. I was awful. Klaus Thunemann Rules!

  • I like basoons!

  • wat guitar is that?

    T-T

  • Totalmente de acuerdo.

    Shit!

  • what's the song he's playing? (i know very little beethoven)

  • funny how people always argue over who the best guitarist is, but ya almost never see heated debates over who the best bassoon player is? Of course ,that would be pretty dorky and hysterically funny

  • why of course, that'd be ralph macchio.

  • That is the pinnacle of guitar playing ability to me. Truly amazing

  • this isn't my kind of music but man can this guy play best gutarist i have ever seen by miles

  • Those that can, do. Those that wish they could compare.

  • Moonlight Sonata?

  • I think I just heard God scream: "I command youtube to remove all ignorant comments NOW!" --- Just enjoy the music and don't fight over an endless discussion about who is a better guitarist.

  • @Djonasz So who do you think is the best guitarist? ;-)

  • @Djonasz

no shit, and the thumb down crowd just need hugs(shame how misery drives some)

Appreciation, that's all that need apply here...well maybe awe

  • gentlemen, gentlemen there is such thing as the best guitar player because it is me. i can play arpeggios with my penis

  • HAHAHAHA, I LAUGH SO HARD!

  • really man, if you keep practising, u keep practicing, u tend to build up the necessary musculature.......seriously.......

  • You too???????????!!!!!!!!

  • Well... it can be possible. I've watched one called: "About a girl played with the cock"

Is very funny and it uses the same technic.

    Cheers!

  • I tried that, but the callouses put me off a bit. you know what its like playing until your fingers bleed? well....

  • The debate is hilarious: just enjoy - or don't - the music and the musicians. What is the point of breaking arguments over each other's head in yet another (yawn) raucous debate about this guitarist is better than that guitarist is better than that...

  • how can you compare two completely different musicians from different eras? the shit talkers prove their own ignorance by not understanding the history first.

  • This is kinda a ridiculous debate. Here, Stanley Jordan is using his guitar as a percussive instrument similar to a piano very well. Hendrix, on the other hand, revolutionized the instrument and paved the way for things we look at as common place such as reverb or feedback. At the beginning of the 1960s, Hendrix's innovations simply didnt exist. Basically, the debate is who is better, a very good player (Jordan) or the guy who made it possible. People didnt play like Jimi coz Jimi invented it

  • WTF i dont think theres a way to compare anybody. music is an exspression. how can you compare soemones feelings and say that there better than someone elses. its idiotic

  • sitiv vayi, jooo satriyani, jingwi masltiiim ve türevleriyle yatıp kalkanlara yemeklerden sonra ufak dozlarda Stanley Jordan öneriyorum:))

  • Gitar bırakma sebebi:))

  • you're favoring one technique over the others, i feel. eric clapton doesnt do jordans technique, and he most likely never will. jordan is the best at doing his style of playing.

  • .

Good point. People need to understand that different ways of playing within different genres cannot be compared acuratly or logically to eachother. Yea, truely amazing musician.

    .

  • Richcapo - I met Stanley at The Great Guitar Summit and won a guitar give away(YamahaPacifica) While backstage I spoke to him as he was signing my guitar I had won and asked him if he would show me his technique. He was very humbled about it and eager almost to show me how he did it but acted as if it is the easiest technique in the world.Even with him showing me and explaining certain things I can do it with 1 guitar (not very good) LMAO

  • He is amazing, no doubt. Have you ever heard him playing baroque and classical using the tap method, by the way? Fugues and such? It's amazing.

  • When he played The Great Guitar Summit he was completly solo and did everything needed to complete a peice that usually requires 3 okayers. I believe he used a electronic rythm track for his percussion but for the most part he was totally solo. What impressed me about him the most was how kind he is and very humble. He did not act like a egotistical typical star. He is a great human being.

  • OH COMON WHEN WAS DIS!!

  • like dead serious he might as well be on a chapman stick. although either way his music will be great

  • i totally agree... guitars are very limited to tapping

  • Guitars are actually unlimited to it if you use your imagination. Stanely is a very cool guy I met him and he signed a guitar I won in a contest. He showed me how he does his technique and it is not as easy as you might think.

  • His style isn't easy at all. The amount of independence, speed, accuracy and coordination it demands in unbelievable, in my opinion. It's the most difficult style there is, I believe.

  • Well his style of play is not the most difficult as I believe the music orientation is blues\Jazz but his technique is incredible. The manner of his technique is the most unique I have ever witnessed. When he and I spoke backstage he spoke as though it was nothing but truth is even with him showing me and actually doing it on the guitar I won I still an in complete Aw.

  • Playing completely independent between two hands while improvising over complex jazz changes with lightning fast technique and harmonic invention is the most difficult guitar style I know of. He literally does everything that any other guitarist does via tapping while playing their rhythm tracks at the same time. What style is more difficult? Flamenco? Classical? "Shred"?

  • stanley is definitely one of the best musicians ever. i personally dont think anyone could really say one person is the best. eric clapton is completely different than stanley, but his tone is so full and rich. hendrix was amazing. these guys play in a more traditional fashion, and i wouldnt call any three of these guys better than another.

  • Personally, I have a hard time calling anyone great because they have "full and rich" tone. If Clapton is great, it has to be for more than that, in my opinion. And, in my opinion, neither he nor Hendrix are anywhere near as good of a musician as Stanley Jordan. Jordan simply operates on a whole higher level than them, in my opinion.

  • i dont think there is really any way to compare them. their styles are completely different. For me, tonality is extremely important, and the ability to play really smooth. jordan is amazing, but it doesnt mean he can do what clapton does, and visa versa. i would also bring buddy guy ,santana, and some other guitarists into this. just because jordan, while hes amazing, has a nontraditional style of playing, doesnt make him better.

  • Note: I think that Jordan is a FANTASTIC musician, but I think that there's an aspect to musicianship that richcapo is ignoring. Just because Clapton, for example, did not ALWAYS crank out the kind of music people generally call amazing (like Jordan's, with a lot of fast-paced notes), does not mean that he COULD not, it just means that he chose not to. Take Horace Silver on "Song For My Father." Silver CAN crank out a kickass solo, but SOMETIMES it's the simple things that make a great tune.

  • are you suggesting that clapton could play with two hands on the fretboard if he chose to, because that is absurd

  • does it really matter whether Clapton can or not? Clapton is amazing in his own right just like Stanley Jordan is amazing in his universe. Guitar players...and excuse the cheesy analogy are like snow flakes. put em all side by side and someone is gonna say "this is better cause this one has this" and the other guy says "no this is one is better because..." but the truth is they're all just different. there is no best guitar player PERIOD

  • Flamenco is at least as difficult as long as you dare to consider other bands than gipsy kings or el barrio, Manouche jazz is also very difficult considering the modes they play on. And Stanley Jordan is god good, but he had to sacrifice many many aspects of guitar techniques to achieve his own, that s why i personnaly think that his way of bending his stacattos and his stress variations arent as great as we can hear in other great guitarists style

  • everyone will sacrifice many aspects to make up their own style but no one has made any real innovations since more than 20 years...so it is not easy then again it is real hard cause you always play like somebody.....

  • yeah, that's one of things that stinks about tapping...the dynamics aren't as good

  • I love this guy.
