I suppose it's all relative. I didn't mean to imply provincial as narrow minded but rather somewhat insulated. I've lived in various western countries and by a very large margin the USA is a comparatively unregulated free for all.
I base this on low tax rates, poor welfare network, poor infrastructure and public facilities, poor support for education, lack of socialized medicine, lack of strongly centralized policy standards, I could go on...
