to verify what i say all you have to do is study the nazi govt. documents from 1939, as well as statements from German govt. officials and officers from that period. There had to be a good rationale for Germany to invade Poland. In the summer of 1939 the German people, while supporting Hitler, were not in the mood for a war. At the start of WW1 German troops marched into neutral Belgium, on the way to France, with the aim of capturing Paris and by doing so put France out of the war. Britain only declared war on you AFTER the German army had begun it's march through Belgium. In WW2, Germany was warned not to invade Poland (with whom Britain had signed a mutual assistance treaty) but did so anyway, triggering Britain's treaty obligation to stand by Poland.

Looking closely, although it looks similar, that is not a Union Flag - it is presumably the regimental Colours of the troops who lower it. Colours are lowered to the ground in salute. If you watch a Remembrance Day ceremony video you will see them lowered in salute to fallen comrades.

to verify what i say all you have to do is study the nazi govt. documents from 1939, as well as statements from German govt. officials and officers from that period. There had to be a good rationale for Germany to invade Poland. In the summer of 1939 the German people, while supporting Hitler, were not in the mood for a war. The govt feared a backlash if the invasion occurred without good reason. Hence the false allegations against Poland including alleg. border incursions!

Hitler wanted Poland and so started a campaign of false allegations about Polish atrocities against ethnic Germans in Poland in the summer of 1939. He had to "build a case" to the German people to justify his actions planned for the end of the summer. The secret pact with Stalin assured him that he would not have a 2 front war and enabled him to invade Poland in Sept. There were no killings of Germans by the Poles.

Oh I see!! WW1 and WW2 were both OUR fault! At the start of WW1 German troops marched into neutral Belgium, on the way to France, with the aim of capturing Paris and by doing so put France out of the war. Britain only declared war on you AFTER the German army had begun it's march through Belgium. In WW2, Germany was warned not to invade Poland (with whom Britain had signed a mutual assistance treaty) but did so anyway, triggering Britain's treaty obligation to stand by Poland.

And we did declare war on you twice but only becuase first time round you invaded Belgium and we were forced to by "The treaty of london" Between UK and Belgium and second time round because you unprovikingly invaded Poland! Britian didn't want war with Germany either time but Germany didn't really leave us much choice in either occasion!

If your grandpas had taken our hand which Berlin offered to you repeatedly you would still be the largest empire in the world. Germans and Brittons are not only cousins but from my point of view the most capable peoples in the world. Kaiser and "Führer" are two of the biggest assholes in history. But usually history is not as monocausal as postwar propaganda pretends. For example Poland was a semi-fascist regime which killed 100s of Germans before Wehrmacht invaded.

I dont see how britain would go about to destroy germany back in 1871. Although as u pointed out earlier britain and germany were cousins due to royal bloodlines. Britain was far too busy running the empire and putting down colonial revolts. wasnt til 1914 when germany allied themselves with austria - hungary and invaded belgium that pulled us into the war

Why do we Germans, especially educated young people with international connections, have a much better relationship with French and Russians meanwhile than we have with the English although France and Russia had to suffer much more from German Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe than GB?
I think, in the year 2008 English-German hatred is a disease which is caused mostly by the English side.
