There is a guy in Jersey with a 700whp SHO. Everything is worked including the tranny. He spent over 10k on the tranny alone just so it wouldn't shatter gears and break transaxles.
I have an 89 SHO, and even with a going valve cover gasket and oil dripping in the spark plug wells - to be repaired this weekend, I still eat all your little imports as a joke.
You're still running a nice little Yamaha V6 inside that Ford body. But that just makes it better in my opinion. I really can't think of a better sleeper.
I would have really liked to see those guys race from a dead stop...but I do see why they are racing from a roll because the SHO's don't really get up and go until they are around 3500-4000 RPMs. I have an '89 SHO and that thing is a complete dog up until around 4,000 and then it screams.
no shos have a set of secondary valves that kick in at 4k once the open the compression ratio changes and it really opens up i had a 90 five speed and it was a beast its a high reving engine and 2nd gear redline around 60 if i recal and 3rd around 95 and ive run mine up to about 140 with few mods mostly just a chip mod and some good gas

I had an almost stock, SHO 1990 in Sweden. I won 1st prize in our local dragrace with it. 10,44@201m (1/8mile) on 17" wheels and custom exhaust + racing Clutch from SHOShop.
I loved it, but it broke down a couple of times though... Overheated and started sounding bad. Would have been nice with a fresh engine and a supercharger =)

I have a 97_SHO and a 92_MTX SHO. No, your SHO doesn't feel near as fast as a Gen I or Gen II (all the pre-96 SHOs). You need to reprogram your tranny and your engine. Change out the exhaust and then it will feel as fast as a Gen I/II SHO

Flip the intake, use a Ford Aerostar 5 spd bellhousing, 94-95 Mustang GT T5 tranny, and of course the SHO wiring harness.

I had an almost stock, SHO 1990 in Sweden. I won 1st prize in our local dragrace with it. 10,44@201m (1/8mile) on 17" wheels and custom exhaust + racing Clutch from SHOShop.
I loved it, but it broke down a couple of times though... Overheated and started sounding bad. Would have been nice with a fresh engine and a supercharger =)

The Yamaha in the SHO in much more capable than your Eclipse, sorry to break it to ya. Watch the net soon for some more videos, as the new version of the turbo SHO is up and running.

i have a 99 sho in great condition with only 50k on it but i don't think it is that fast..the automatic definitely doesn't help

I have a 97_SHO and a 92_MTX SHO. No, your SHO doesn't feel near as fast as a Gen I or Gen II (all the pre-96 SHOs). You need to reprogram your tranny and your engine. Change out the exhaust and then it will feel as fast as a Gen I/II SHO

the coolest thing about the sho is that a lot of people don't know what they are. they're a 220 horse grocery getter. my brother-in-law had a 93. you should have seen the look on the guy's face in the 5.0 mustang when he got his ass whooped by what looks like a normal family sedan.

I had a 1989 and a 95, both were 5 speed, though the 89 was a touch faster, i guess cause of less weight. They were awesome, and I surprised a lot of kids in TSi's and a couple of GTA Trans Ams
