i believe steve died in las vegas from a heart attack, i think he was there to cover either a world of outlaws race or a different racing event. I remember feeling saddened and shocked of his passing. I miss his calls of the races, truly a legend
Thanks for the clarification. Where did they run the 1979 World Finals because I though that was at OC but in this video the camera is on the other side of the track.
the screen during staging. That is the actual Logo for OCIR. That logo was used
as window stickers for "Participant" and "Winner" stickers that you receive for competing. There are some vendors at the Pomona and Long Beach auto swapmeets that sell reproduction stickers
that are kinda cool to collect... if you're into that sort of thing.

I couldn't help but admire your name. I still have my Final Strike T-shirt from the Snake's last pass in 1994. That was an awesome ride!

What track is this? It isn't Orange County is it?
stamphater 3 years ago
Yes it is Orange County, 1981 was the
1st year they ran the World Finals there, until it was moved to Pomona in 1984.

The World Finals from 1980 or earlier was at Ontario Motor Speedway (now extinct) which was also in California, not sure what city though.

You can tell that it is OCIR by the Blue and
Red billboard sign at the top left corner of
the screen during staging.
