Hi Chuck wow great song my friend I loved the lyrics great performance I loved the song my friend you got me thinking happy memories of my child hood now which is great thank you my friend from Phil .
@slikastacy hello slikstacey. good to hear from you. also, thanks for subscribing and i have just returned the favor by subscribing to your own chanel. peace and love, chuck.
This is a great song, Chuck! Your lyrical meter is really precise, and I can tell you worked hard to develop a meter that lent itself so easily to writing. And wow, all that's going on musical is incredible! Left and right hand are both super busy!
@mamaunderscoresays hello Davis. thanks for taking the time to listen and appreciate. i respect your opinion as i respect your own original songwring skills. so nice to hear from you. be well, chuck.
Hello, Chuck, I'm back on Youtube now, and I just thought I'd come listen to some of your newer tunes. Love your playing here. I've heard that as become older, we actually become younger, hehe. I've also heard that older people have more in common with children because we can once again embrace the fun side of life. I think your lyrics address all this. As always, you perform and write most excellently. I hope you had a happy holiday. :) Janet
@onewomanandsomesongs hi Janet. welcome back. you have been missed. hope you were able to work out some of your medical issues. thanks for the visit and wea are all looking forward to your own next original posting. peace and love and health, chuck.
Hi Chuck! The new year is upon us - what a nice song to finish out the year with... Closing out the year (and decade) gives us pause for reflection... which for some of us can lead to reflections of even earlier times - the "distractions" having been "played out".
With your prompting, I now remember Larks (but for some reason not in connection with Studebaker - the bullet nosed one).
Hi Chuck, you've struck a rich vein of creativity recently, and here's another delightful gem. I too have been considering writing a song about my memories of childhood - our police cars had bells instead of sirens! - partly inspired by a book called "When I Was A Nipper" by Alan Titchmarsh, full of evocative pictures and slightly rose-tinted recollections of the 50s and 60s in England. I'll have a job on my hands to match what you have produced here, though!
Another great original song. You are my favorite storyteller, and I always love watching you play your guitar--wonderful!! Thanks so much for the nice comment you left on my latest video. Hearing from you makes my day. :)
@guitarjosie hi there Josie. it's always a joy to hear from you. i hope you and your friends and family have a great, safe time tonight. some old timers don't like to be on the road for "amateur night". be safe friend, chuck.
I remember the Studebakers as a kid, from a distance of course. All we could afford was a used Dodge or something like that :o) I enjoyed the song very much Chuck, like the images you create with your words. I also like your backing singer as well :o) Have a great New Year Chuck. -Ron
@rhopen hi Ron. thanks for the nice visit. i'm still enjoying your most recent original. have a happy, safe, new years week end. peace and love, chuck.
Great tune Chuck....I went to the link and checked out the Studebaker Larks...they were beautiful cars....wonderful storytelling and fantastic picking. Nobody tells a story like you my friend. have a Happy New year.
Thats Fancy Picking there My Friend and as always a Great Use of Words I admire your Talent and ability to carry a story through song it's out of this world Chuck Happy New Year My Friend
I really enjoy the stories you tell and images you create Chuck. This song is no exception. Studebakers were a little before my time but I can see them roaring down the street in this song..wonderful stuff! Vanessa
@nessyvt hi Vanessa. thank you so much for the nice visit. looking forward to your own fine original posting. happy new year and more to come, chuck.
Another great one Chuck! I like the rhythm and rhyme scheme, especially the "there was a three pony ride" verse. Very well written. Great performance too!
I love the dog helping with harmonies at the end too! :)
@timhomanmusic hi Tim. thanks for your nice, thoughtful comments and for taking the time to listen. Stella and i appreciate it. peace and love, chuck.
@psychospeakempire hi Paul. thanks very much for the nice visit. i kinda' like that Stella went to the door to be let out at the point of the song when i was singing about doorways. i'm really enjoying playing nylon strings lately and this spannish guitar is nice because it also has an under the bridge fishman. be well friend, chuck.

Nicely done, Chuck. I love your honest lyrics. 'it's nearest at birth and death' -eloquently said. I loved the howling at the end.

Let me be the first to say this is one of your best melodies Chuck. I love the sensitive lyrics too.
(Now that I'm old and distractions are played out
I'm thinking of childhood again.
Now that I'm old and distractions are played our
I'm opening doorways again.) That's me!
What a great way to say good bye to a year.
Happy New Year my friend!
