hey how is this guitar for like more overdriven pop punk sounds or even distortion?

Matter of opinion as always. Sound is personal. you can get some pretty sweet higher gain sounds from it, just listen. Another option would be a les paul junior, although if price is a factor... Theres a Billie Joe Armstrong (green day) signature, which i guess is a good endorsement of the 'pop punk' thing.

i have the dual pickup which is discontinued, and i have never seen a better guitar for under $500
