it's too bad you didn't document the teardown of the dash and the side panels, you could have made some money. So far none of the repair manuals cover this that I've seen.
and guess what got taken out at 0:22 seconds, the engine that would go perfect in a lawn mower! just kidding, this is a sad video. Someone out there riding a bike to work would of liked this car. And someone wanting great gas mileage. Oh well. I am not dissing the video. Did it have a bad title or something? I have a metro myself, so its sad to see that tiny little motor (FREAKING TINY!!!) get pulled out.
This car was a piece of crap. The brakes didn't work, it ran on 2 out of 3 cylinders, parts were missing and it had mis-matched door panels and took 3 different keys to unlock various things. The title was fine but my dad just wanted some parts from it for his other Geo Metro. This car only went 35 mph. If you gave it any more than about 1/4 1/3 throttle, it would sputter and almost die. It took a very long time to get home.
That makes perfect since. If I could find a Chevy Metro with a bad title, I would buy it and use all the parts on my 99 Chevy Metro as well. Its ok right now. Its going to need a clutch soon. And whoever put the exhaust on was drunk. Because its not straight at all and you can tell it was a custom job. (A mexican owned it before me.) So now the CAT is ruined and I had to put holes in it for it to breath. So I gotta put a whole new exhaust on it.
I have to point something out. Why in the world would you buy an automatic metro? ask any mechanic in the world. Your just wasting gas mileage and auto transmissions are not as durable as manual transmissions. And why have four cylinders in a metro. Mine is a 10L 3 cylinder 5 speed. I love the gas mileage. And after I get the exhaust replaced, it will get better. The metro owns my 2002 Cavalier with a 2.2L 4 cylinder AUTOMATIC (i hate not being able to tell my car when to shift!) in gas mileage.
It is not a piece of shit, it is mostly metal and some parts are plastic and rubber in the tires and silicon in the computer chip, it is not organic material (shit).
I own a gee metro and am very happy with it paid 400 dollars for it bought from a friend when she replaced it with a cobalt so am very happy 35-40 mpg woot
I know my dad owned three. This is one he bought for parts. He sold the XFI for $3300. The base model he recently sold went for $1600. There is good money in Metros now.
Actually, the car wasn't actually destroyed, but merely parted out. Kinda like organ donation... that car now lives in perhaps dozens of other Metros/Fireflys/Swifts all over N. America.
No, me and my dad just took it apart to get some spare parts for his actual daily driver car. It's all sold and gone now. any problems we had were taken care of by cutting. we didn't really need to be careful.
Ive had 3 total 2 1993 geo metro 4 drs one 5speed one auto, I currently have a 1996 metro 5 speed coupe, I really want a convertible though.

I noticed the date was in 2006...now in 2008 a running Geo Metro-of any vintage-can go for as much as $4,000 now. Now there is one less....
