  • 7 people have let the sun go down on them, how so very sad.

  • It's 4:15 in the morning, and I couldn't rest until I played this before ending my night properly.

  • This is definitely one of the best songs ever written and ever sung in the history of music!

  • The album Caribou, is turly one of his best. I wish someone would put the song Ticking out,, So in newcomers get to know it's relevancy to this time and space. It is quite prophetic. ahead of it's time. It''s worth the time, running about 11 minutes. I have been a super fan for 35 years. Thanx G

ps-I bought all the vinyl he produced and he was my first concert ever

  • I prefer this song his older voice, but that still doesn't change the fact that this is one of the most amazing songs ever!

  • 6 people are deaf blind and really, really dumb.

  • @mattmoeman and ur comment is really, really old and mainstream

  • Losing everything is indeed like the sun blowing you, thus burning off your junk.

  • Thumbs up to those that recognized Carl Wilson (of The Beach Boys) sharing in the back-up vocals. Voice of angel he had.

  • Yeah! I like talking about Elton John on this Elton John on this Elton John video!

  • What the hell is all this shit about... This is simply a beautiful song, by some amazing men. It has touched the world. I remember when I was a kid how huge this song was and how much joy it brought to people. Then they find out some personal shit about the artists and all this other crap is up for discussion? WTF? It is just a really beautiful song. You don't need to be having sex with anyone to love this song... Hell, when I was a kid, long before sex... I just loved this song.

  • @watsonvision Rite -on! it's just a beautiful song NUFF SAID !!!

  • Praise the sun...

  • haha damn that Gnomeo and Juliet xD hahaha

  • One of my all time favorite songs by one of my all time favorite artists. He gets extra points from me for being such good friends with the love of my life, Freddie Mercury. He was there when FM needed people the most. Has anyone seen the pictures of EJ"s baby? Perfect and adorable that baby is.

  • im not a christian, or a faggot. or whatever else people are talking about. i just like this song and elton john. and im sure that 9 out of 10 people that come on this video are thinking the same thing when they scroll down. so just shut up about it people

  • maynard ferguson plays this well instrumentally

  • i came here to enjoy this song.. not for church.

  • @GibsonSpecialist Yes and enjoyed this creation for years I have my friend. Wonderful simple comment you made, may I commend you? I no longer offer comment about church, religion, etc. Futile effort this has become, much as politics of late.

  • Nice Beautiful Song..

  • When I listen to the lyrics of this morbidly wonderful song, I can't help to think this song is about someone battling with depression, which I've dealt with more than my share of utter disappointments during the course of my life. Elton John & Bernie Taupin really know how to structure well-crafted songs! "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" peaked on the U,S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in May 1974!

    Bravo, Elton & Bernie!

  • thank you Sir Elton John, I am Engish born in Victoia, B.C. I am sitting here with my good girlfriend, Robyn. We want to let you know, that we have listened to a variety of music tonight, mostly love songs, we thought of you, of course, and we love you, and we sang the loudest when we heard, "Don't let the sun, go down on me," We are here in Nanaimo, B.C, Lot's of Queen's land here, hense, British Columbia. Please call me, 250-729-1709

  • @Ravannah11 Did anyone ever call this?

  • The Sun Went Down On 6 people.

  • This song always lifts me up when im feeling low,,,,, plus elton rocked it out in concert on March 12 2011.....

  • What is with all the naked women in this video? I'm so confused....

  • @bgatzby : So was Elton John. It's OK, I'm not judging you.

  • @soyounoat Lmao

  • Elton John sounds like Joe McElderry.

  • Did anyone else notice the topless girls at 4:47 ?

  • @ThickestCrayon I did now!!,ha ha :)

  • Elton's music soothes and calms my dog :)

  • Thumbs up if this song MOVED youor made you CRY

  • Christian people have to be the dumbest in the world. If you really believe everything the bible tells you, I feel sorry for you. Try to have some thoghts of your own! The bible contradicts itself in so many places it's ridiculous. What happened to love thy neighbour? Does it say there "unless he's gay, believes in a different god, swears or does anything else the bible says is wrong"?

Idiots! You are what's wrong with the world. Religion is for weakminded fools.

  • @astream99 I am a Christian and I believe it is not up to me, or any other Christian for that matter, to judge anyone. So maybe you should think twice before criticizing Christians as a whole, because not all of us are as you believe. We, just as anybody else, need to think before criticizing others. God Bless. :)

  • @carihendrix I know :) Well said. I may have gone a little overboard in my comment. It just really pisses me off when so-called christians start with the gaybashing and such, I truly believe religion is a bad thing though, but I respect your beliefs. As long as you don't try pushing it onto other people. That's when it goes wrong...

  • @astream99 All is fun and games, jokes are cool. I believe bigots should die in the manner appropriate to their obsessions. I believe their is a place as such...I think they call it hell. I am scheduled for an appointment myself. I might become their new Curator, since I notice the obvious manner in which 'Christians' blatantly violent their own code. If you are a christian it say's 'judge not lest ye be judged' so judging anyone is basically a 1-way ticket to hell right? Their book says, so...

  • @astream99 It's okay, I understand. :)) It pisses me off as well, especially being a Christian myself. We're supossed to show others love and compassion no matter what they may believe or do. Surprisingly enough, I also agree with you, for the most part, about religion. It's all about your personal relationship with your god. It's a shame so many other "Christians" have given the rest of us a bad name...and thank you. :) I respect whatever your beliefs may be as well!

  • @carihendrix No I love this statement. So many in the name of God. Your personal relationship with God, THAT makes you a better person, and remember to accept rather than judge. The bible tells all this, turn the other cheek, let Sodom and Gomorrah, not your place, judge and earn your own place. Besides God rewards Love above hate! If your crime was one of love. Man's law is not god's law. Love Thy Neighbor...despite his lifestyle.Love conquers all. Which is the point here. Don't let the sun...

  • @Odd879 I find this all facinating. I was raised catholic but always had strong belief in nature. As I grew I realized I am atheist (I do believe in non physical energy as something we dont fully understand). Love does conquer all, u r right. What gets me, is for a god who places love&compassion above all else, the morning star, his most favored, asked a question. God's reaction is not the sign of a patient, loving god. It's contradictory! Yet some scientists r catholic..I don't get it lol!!!

  • @johnjnukemsheridan It is also said that God is a vengeful god and a jealous god. What does God have to be jealous of if there are no other gods? I refuse to believe in a God that has transcended into a powerful being such as he and held onto primitive negative emotions. Sounds to me like a justification for our own feelings of jealousy and hateful revenge. In as much as it is a contradiction to the statement that there is only one God. This is all biblical, it can be read from the book.

  • @Odd879 Lol yeah I know; if there's one thing that book excels at, it's contradicting itself lol ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @johnjnukemsheridan "I do believe in non physical energy as something we dont fully understand." And you describe yourself as an atheist? Uh... yeah...

  • @Odd879 The Bible also describes slavery, infanticide, genocide, destruction, rape and debasement of women, and the willingness to sacrifice ones own son as some sort of "test".

It also describes the killing of non-believers with stones.

  • @astream99 It's hard for me to respect someone that believes in fairy tales... After all, most people who profess themselves in Christians don't even practice it, it's more peer pressure than anything else.

  • @carihendrix No I am saddened to say but their are a lot of Christians who have done terrible things in the past too. Vlad Tepes comes to mind. I may be ignorant but most judges on the bench are of christian-like beliefs. Certainly never heard of any openly Jewish or Wiccan judges. I do believe you must have faith in something. I just say you got to be more open-minded the bible was written by a man centuries ago. So the bible says homosexuality is wrong. Still, don't judge, not our place to.

  • @Odd879 I never said other "Christians" haven't done terrible things. I know they have, just as a lot of other people in the world. Being a Christian certainly does NOT make us perfect, as so many people seem to think. I also said that we shouldn't judge anyone else in my previous comment, so I'm not too sure why you're telling ME not to judge.

  • @carihendrix Because it is Christians over history who do. It is the very nature of my abandonment of Christianity based on the ministry I was involved in, and watching 'Christians' that I think it's all bull. I was going to say more but out of respect. I just see 'Christians' are as the more judgmental of all. Christianity is against homosexuality after-all right? Don't get me wrong, I believe in God. I just don't take man's interpretation of what he meant to say, as accurate.

  • @carihendrix I am a Christian also and human beings make really bad Judges! This is just a pretty song that brings back memories!

  • @carihendrix And maybe you should think about whether its healthy for you to still be believing in fairy tales. Also, the "God bless" thing is a little patronizing, don't you think?

  • @carihendrix .... 'I am a Christian and I believe it is not up to me, or any other christian for that matter to judge anyone' he say's before he goes on to berate someone for even daring to criticize their whole... So much for the frontal lobotomy... God bless :(

  • @astream99 actually no

  • being homosexual is just as much as sin as it is when we swear c'mon people get a grip your referring to the old testament, jesus brought the good news in the new testament we are all sinners and the good news is that he paid the price on the cross for all of us! and that's enough- It Is Finished/Elton John has done so much good in the world it is unspeakable

  • Lol, God doesn't exist. Both of you Fail.

  • @Gakitsuki FEEL SORRY FOR YOU.

  • Why did God make gay people if He didn't want us to accept them? Just askin'....

  • @SupernalOne god didnt make ppl u stupid fucking follower

  • @tokesalot42069

well, you are sufficiently stupid to fail to recognize irony when you read it, so don't talk

  • @SupernalOne man ur stupid cuz u didnt even understand something as simple as what i sed, god didnt make people therefore he didnt make gay people so your original comment is just pathetic and ignorant

  • @tokesalot42069

I was posing a facetious rhetorical question, working withn the intellectual/theological construct held by the majority of fundamentalist Protestants - however, you have no idea what I'm talking about

  • @SupernalOne look ur comment wasnt that complicated k, it was simply a shot at gay ppl, just accept it

  • @tokesalot42069

No no no - "why did God make gay people if He didn't want us to accept them?" Look at the question from the point of view of Xian concepts of charity, & of God's omnipotence - if there is a God, & we are his children, & He wants us to love one another (& remembering the parable of the good samaritan), then His purpose must be to challenge us to love those we may not be able relate to - it was actually a pro-gay statement, hopefully invoking reflection - you smoke too much -

  • @SupernalOne Beautiful, well spoken.

  • Comment removed

  • @SupernalOne Most people don't. But I hear you.

  • @MissTiggyish

Thanks - after all, why would people be naturally same-sex oriented, if God didn't intend it? The Xian fundamentalist argument that they are really straight, but polluting their own bodies to spit in God's eye, is a miserable piece of judgmental idiocy - most gay people are born gay - so what are we to do? Follow the 10 commandments, and love our neighbors as ourselves. And as per the parable of the Good Samaritan, everybody is our neighbor. Tolerance is a virtue too -

  • how could u not like this song i mean whats not like about it

  • I heard this guy I like sing like one part of this for a video he made it was a funny video but it was about people trying out for a musical and he played a bunch of parts and then I just had to find the song!!!! It gets in my head easily but I imagine him singing it!! Love ya Kory!!!

  • @porcupineinteruptus - Dig that - to Lisa - from 1975...

  • Double barrel Hi -Q. Elton John and Bernie Taupin. What a team.

  • Carl Wilson (Beach Boys) also sang backing. You can hear his amazing voice on the chorus - he sings the harmony line "don't let the sun go down" as well as various ooh's. Still miss Carl and Dennis.

  • he's gay???

  • rocks,...thanks,...

  • Don't dizgard this song.

  • Dude...this is an amazing video you made. Be extra proud, babe.

  • love u're video, & this is a great version of this song too! <3

  • One of his very best, Toni Tennille sings backing vocals on this. Originally on his 1974 album 'Caribou'. Pax to all from 73soulboy.Xxx.

  • I love songs I can describe in one word and this can only be called majestic.

  • thank god george michael isnt singing this version

  • What a wonderful composition. I'm thinking quality, genius. Could you imagine the limp pricks in command of the "music" mill today even approaching anything like this?

  • Yes, he really used to be able to hit those high notes- quite an unbelievable talent.

  • *listens to song*

    Whoa wait a sec,

    this song isn't awesome

    IT IT EPICCCCCC!!

  • did a great job on the slideshow, some people manage to fuck that up

  • I love the lyrics to this song, very meaningfull.

  • This song has beautiful lyrics.

  • Stunning background vocals by Carl Wilson. Wasn't Bruce Johnston in there as well? This is by far the best version, the original version. Nothing better than this.

  • Thank u for this post my friend..Cheers from Barbara in Pennyslvaina

  • I always knew this song in the back of my mind but it's only been until this year that I've properly listened to it. It's so unbelievably good that I don't even want to hear the covers. I'm sure it would ruin the pure beauty of this song :)

  • Deep & Many Thanks For The Post !!

  • this is Elton John's voice????

  • @parchekopche Yes it is!!!!

  • the first time I heard this song as a kid I almost fell over when I heard Carl Wilson's voice in the background. thanks for posting this in a nonlive version, because it would lack something without Carl's presence. RIP Mr Wilson and happy birthday.

  • Awesome song.. I hear Toni Tonille & the Beach Boys singing backup..

  • it's a great song by a great artist , why can't we leave it at that.

  • beautiful song. classic

  • @EdEckersley me too. im a lesbian if ure wondering

  • It's all good; thanks for the positive feedback. It is true, time does heal all wounds. Some scars, but healed mostly.

    Cheers,

    K

  • i think this is one of the best songs in history!

why you discuss about that he's gay ... it doesn't matter! the music is very good and that is the important thing and not his sexuality! don't care about it! love this song !

  • @JBloveslondon Think of it this way..If the Christians are right and homosexuality is wrong and they are going to hell for their evil ways, and then the Christians(spell checker request I capitalize christians!) are judging them for it, aren't they joining them in eternity? Don't ask me what I really feel........

Love is what is about, Passion is what it feels. Strength it gets when it says it aloud. Wholeness it feels when it accepts and understands. I love and honor my gay friends, NY.

  • @Odd879 Furthermore, this song is about something we ALL have to go through. Think about what the man says. Everyone has moment that this song relates to........admit it........maybe it's your hair line maybe it's your youth, maybe it's the time you had fun but no longer..........maybe you're getting older and wiser but wish for the younger animal. Maybe you've been battling inner demons for years and finally have won or lost? Maybe you misread what you believed.

  • @JBloveslondon No it is a great song. It means a lot to me.

  • fuck this is gorgeous.

  • Toaster, I too have a similar memories. Perhaps a tad different, I am gay, doubt you are, so please do not take this the wrong way. I had a 1980 Toyota Celica and a boyfriend from age 16 to 24. We used to lay on the hood and look at the stars and stuff. he is gone now, we broke up he got HIV and he died about 10 years ago. Anyways, though different, this was our tune along with a many other classic '70's stuff.

    Cheers.

    Kev

  • @MrBumpmen

im sorry for your loss :(

i know that kinda stuff is really hard

at least you still have those memories to hold on to, you know?

  • reminds me of the good ol days, layin on the hood of my 77 toyota celica drinking a beer watching the summer stars up above with this on the radio coming out of the car.. laying there with my best friend, i remember he was wearing a denim jacket and a led zeppelin shirt.. thick, blonde hair. i dont know how i remember. we talked about girls in school, the future, college, everything. we were like brothers. hes been gone ever since may 2008.. i miss you, bro. youll always be my brother.

  • I love you Cor

  • Things could have been so different....

I think the suns gone down on Lyn and I

    I'll Love Her Forever..............:(

  • i freekin love this song

  • Don't get me wrong. I love Elton. And I love this song. But I have to admit, I really have no idea what exactly he's talking about.

Really the only line that hits home with me here is about searching oneself but always finding others. So true. But maybe I'm reading that out of context - a context I don't really understand.

  • stop talking toffee you lot its the best version of the song but try to get the superior sounds of version it will blow any version away like a george bush missile.....UK RULES THE MUSIC PLANET,UNLESS YOUR A ZAPPA

  • this version is way better then the newer one with george.

  • I love this song AND the way this video was done. Kudos, Cameron m55 , You did a fantastic job

  • i love this song

  • That doesn't sound like Elton Johns voice, is this really his version?

  • lol? it sure does you probably didnt listen his 70's songs..

  • This is classic eltonJohn, complete with backing vocals by late great Beach Boy Carl Wilson.

  • I don't know... I just love both versions. The live version with George Michael is a more bombastic epic production, and plus It Is George Michael!...

But the original is a more melancholy, tender record. Both are amazing though.

  • all serbians and albanians are raised to be anti-gay so dont waste ur time....they are like cavemen, no class, no gentility, not civilized and not worth anyones time

  • there is nothing wrong with being anti-gay . I don't walk around saying I HATE GAY PPL if your GAY it's okay just don't kiss me you fag.

  • classic. gotta love it.

  • So what if he is gay! Does that change the fact that he's a brilliant singer/songwriter?

  • One would hope not. Brilliance is brilliance in my mind.

  • No i think his music is great i heard this music many time over many years and i do like it. But he is gay.

  • Just because someone is Gay doesn't mean they can make something as touching as this; many musicians have been gay. One of his best works in my opinion.

  • I do like his music i don't care that he's gay.

  • Are you a homophobe?

  • And so are you. (:

  • Yeah but he sure can sing & play! Elton was the first 8 Track I bought...guess how old I am..

  • you know, a lot of people in this world piss me off, you are one of them. yes, Elton John is gay, it is his choice. you should really think before you say stuff like that, cause' you never know, maybe one of your close friends is secretly gay, and what if one day he wants to tell you? you gonn punch him in the face? i hope not, so smarten the fuck up, and stop being disrespectful.

  • Don't feed into nzserbian he's just trying to get attention. He's trolling for homos.

  • How do you know it's his choice to be gay? Maybe he was just born that way.

  • people aren't born gay...

  • You mean you weren't...

  • i mean people aren't.... cant you read?

  • I see, so you choose to be gay?

  • that would be my point

  • How do you know? The act is chosen, but as far as being gay? YEs they are born that. Why choose something like that????

  • people aren't born as sexual beings.

  • @spacedoutangel - Amen brother..Much Peace...

  • great song

  • superb editing

  • oh yeh windows movie maker skillz!

  • eltons a genius. how he took bernies lyrics and wrote tunes like these i'll never know.
